OK I am remiss to not have read this post before last night. I have a 98 450 ES and had the same symptoms as you and scratched my head til it was bare. I also tried all the things that were listed here for fuel and ignition issues and came up blank. The one symptom I read for you that brought back my 450 was blow back from the carb. So with help from these guys, that time on the old forum, I pulled the front cover off and timing chain was toast. And just like yours it had run the day before and then all it wanted to do is crank and not fire. My chain was stretched past usable condition so it was replaced along with my cam sprocket. Also make sure the chain tensioner is working correctly. I had never taken apart an engine so all was new to me but with help here I did what was needed and got her running again. Unfortunately for me not long after I got it running it started puffing smoke so again with help from retro and shadetree I was able to pull the engine, rebuild it, reinstall and get her running. And she is purring like a champ now. Maybe missed it but how many miles and hours on the engine? Mine had a bunch and was ready for the rebuild but maybe yours just needed a few parts like the chain and sprocket. Hang in there and ask lots of questions, you will have it running and feel good about saving many $$ by doing it by yourself....

LOL Fish! We had a very close friend that passed away last June after a 6 year battle with a very rare case of appendial cancer. She shared a story with us of a trip that she and her husband took down to Colorado to see his sister. They went on a small tour bus to go see one of the higher peaks in the state. She was a very sweet person and loved meeting and visiting with new people so naturally she and her husband sat right behind the driver. After asking some poignant questions in Julie fashion, she quickly found out where he moved from knowing by his accent he wasn't from the area. Throughout the visit it was apparent he was there living out his life long dream of finding Bigfoot. The more he talked, the more excited he became proving it more of an obsession than a dream. During different stops he broke out his phone touting pictures of proof of Bigfoots existence, intelligence, and communities. Pictures of constructed passage ways,(overgrown logging roads), communal gathering places, (standing deadwood that has fallen over leaning on other trees, Widow makers, or just bent over in a big arch) explaining, "That just doesnt happen!!" Addiment that every bent over tree, every leaner, and every slash pile were warnings to stay away from "Their" area. Over the years she had a lot of fun with that stopping in the middle of the forest or along a trail breaking into a monologue about the way the trees were leaning or piled up pointing around and making the statement "That just doesnt Happen!!!" We really miss her, our rides will never be the same.

Thanks. Yup, Pretty inside and out, she was only 49. Been 9 months her husband is not doing very well, really struggling try to call him every week. A lot tougher for him now with us being in shelter in place. He's a teacher so with schools being shut down they are trying to teach from home remotely. Plus he's there alone so making it really hard.

It's a chilly afternoon! I only went out for about 2 hours today, I couldn't warm up at all (I ended up on the phone for nearly an hour with a friend). What I did do though was I took apart the drum I removed yesterday and cleaned up all the parts. It turned out to be in pretty good shape, with the exception of one of the parts being quite badly corroded, I might be able to repair or replace it though. I removed the blades which are in tatters but the bolts are in good condition and just needed cleaning. It appears from the original paint marks that the drums did run 4 blades at one point. The bolts that mount the blades are flush with the blade so nothing to catch on rocks etc.. although I fear if a rock was sticking up it would just strike the blade! As you can see the blades are well worn out, I marked them so I know which drum the new blades will go on. I painted one of the washers and the main drum itself with etch primer but the wind was picking up so I'm back inside the cosy home now! More to do tomorrow weather permitting. What do you think of using these wheels? Are they a bit small or would they work? The tyre is about 8 inches tall I think and they are rated to around 100kg each..

More like a tactical weapon for anything it could be needed for. It has a 400 lumen light on it with a strobe setting and a basic red dot sight. Modern warfare style lol

Dont have any idea what worms taste like either, all they tell you is they taste like worms! How something like that ever got started is beyond me, but they sure do make quite a deal outa that festival. There was about 500 people there doin all kinds of worm dishes, from burgers to stew, all kinds of gear for fishin with worms, and worm shockers they put the probes in ground and run current threw them , 120 volts and the worms come crawlen out! There was an entire area where they had all kinds of devices for catchin them. up here we want em for fishin, we go out at night and pick up big ole crawlers on the ground that come out right after dark. I always thought everybody did that. But they take it to a whole other level.

you will need to pull shifting shaft out, before you try to lay it on the flywheel side. over on clutch side, main clutch gear needs to come off, as well as the shift drum cup before you can split the cases. and i see a lot of bolts still in the engine cases ?, remove them, then tap the right side off the crank, make sure you lay it down on the flywheel side !. no need to unbolt the output shaft.

Well.... Those are not exactly stump jumpers .... 1st off there would be no exsposed bolts .... (One sunk gear box main shaft bolt for each disk/gear box) And ONLY two blades on each disk ... And the disks are usually made of 1/4 -1/2 inch thick steel ... And most heavy models are a 1000 rpm pto, not 540.

Sorry for the misunderstanding but it wasn't the cleaning. I was just referring to your gun. He was shooting factory ammo and I'm convinced one cartridge was undercharged resulting in a pressure spike. You could hear the difference.

Yeah the compression ratio will decide what octane of fuel you can and should be using. ***Jetting update*** 185 main jet in. Started up and instantly had to turn idle screw in 1 full turn. It was way high with just that jet change and nothing else. I let it idle up to temp and dialed in the mixture screw. Highest smoothest idle was achived at 1 3/4 turns out. It stalled at half a turn out. And anything higher than 2 it starts to idle rough and stumble and hunt. Its rained like 2 inches in the last 48 hours here so not able to go ride it to see how the 185 is. But i think im making progress for sure.

I'll say Goodyear mud runners, others have gave probably better advice on tires, but ask a tire question and you get lots of different answers. best of luck

No. But have seen plenty of sign! LOL!! Also when we license ours they are a permanent license plates and stickers

Most of our riding is on Forest Service gravel roads and old “logging trails”. Cost $25 a year per machine for a permit. We keep ours licensed for the street as well. So we can ride anywhere but the Interstate System.

You got any ideas? At the moment I am thinking about putting that controller into a water proof box which will also houses the sound system amp , I don't even have that box yet , right now it has a custom sound tube and the amp is inside of the tube , I am going to change sound systems to a Boss with 4 pods , swopping sounds so the front rack will have room for the cooler/ fan box , also thinking since this controller has two fan circuits built into , I might go with two fans like my 450 is set up , one fan for the coolers , and a fan with no cooler on the engine , then run a kill toggle to the engine fan so it can be turned off while submerged , --- the project is snowballing fast into an avalanche ---

is kill switch in center position ?, with spark plug in spark plug boot, lay it on the engine, crank it over, got spark ?, if yes ?, then its narrowed down to fuel issue ?, or timing ?. if you had spark ?, shoot a short burst of starting fluid into the back of carb, it should '' hit '' ( run for a sec or two ), then this tells me its narrowed down to a fuel issue. if it dont '' hit when you do this ?, then this tells me you have a timing issue ?, or not enough compression ?. one last thing..is it cranking over pretty fast ?, or slow ?. battery fully charged ?.

Here we can license our machines. All you have to do to make it street legal is add a horn, a mirror, and a lighted license plate holder. Since most come with head lights and tail lights it's pretty easy. We also purchase a trail sticker. The courthouse gives us a plate and the sticker, we put both on the machine and that's it. We can ride any non interstate type road, paved or not, in town where ever we want as long as we are following traffic signs and speeds. The sticker allows us access to any Forest service trail available to ATV's. There are some that are motorcycle only, Motorcyclists have it the easiest, the duel-sport machines are street legal, and they can ride all forest service roads and trails, plus there are single track motorcycle trails for those types of bikes only. The majority of our trails are in the 50" or less catagory which is atv width as well allowing 50" side X side's. I personally don't have many trails that are accessible from my house very easily. We actually may have 1 or 2 and you would have to ride a mile or two on pavement, then 15 or so on gravel roads to finally get to a trail head so is better to just trailer our machines to the trail heads. But a lot of trailheads are easily within 20-30 minutes from the house. Pretty fortunate.

With a few new members I'm going to throw out a little explanation of what makes a forum work. After about a week when spam was starting on that old forum I sent a message to both Admins on there (Feb, 28 way after I quit helping) On March 16 I get this reply. March 17 I replied that I wasn't interested. As of posting this there are over 25,000 active spam posts on that forum. The spammers they did ban they did not clean up/remove any of the posts (I suppose it gives a good post count). I was also a Mod on the pioneer forum and informed the admin of the problem on HF. They have a whole team of people controlling forums they have zero care for (members and the forum) and do nothing to help it out. That's why we are here, where we ALL are the bosses and take care of OUR forum.

He is not working on a TRX350 far as I know? And the service manual for the TRX350 is not in error... here is pages 13-6/13-7 containing the drum seal grease recommendation:

Holy cow of course thats wrong. All rubber lipped seals on rotational parts must be lubricated. You didn't know that...? This is from the brakes section (page 12-20) in the1988-1994 service manual:
