4 pointsWhen we had our gender reveal, it was in a cake. Blue cake, boy, pink cake girl. You didn't know till you cut the cake. I've eaten a lot of pink cake. I'm with Wilson on the "showers are for women". I had to show up and load everything up when it was over. Wife told me to not be too drunk when I came to get the stuff. LOL

3 pointsLast nite we talked about it more. I’m not going to pull the pin on it. I agree that I will be doing a lot of wrenching on it to get it to my standards. & with hunting season upon me, I won’t ha e the time until winter. So for now, gonna pass...

2 pointsWelcome aboard Michael. Guys, Michael sells parts on ebay. I've bought quite a bit of Foreman stuff from him for the 08 I'm building now, and the 07 I have on deck. Good guy to deal with. Parts are accurately described, and priced right.

2 pointsWell at this point the count on homes lost in the fire is 23. This is an area that is pretty affluent, so there is quite a bit of property with the homes. So in that sense it could have been a lot worse. Hopefully we'll know more by tonight. My niece's house is fine so we're very grateful for that.

2 pointsI don't do anything for free. A broken bolt is more work than estimated. On all jobs i give a price range not an actual price. If the range is big enough then no problem if everything else works out as planned.

1 pointI’ll pick up the story about my current project. Two years ago my wife bought this quad for me as an anniversary present. Awwww. It came out of an estate sale. I think the owner was a small engine guy—but no welder lol—he installed some ugly shop-made carriers. Those heavy racks broke down onto the fenders and led, eventually, to at least one rollover. About 60 lbs of steel. sad ol tank, looked like it had been stored in an outbuilding with lots of mice, webworms and spiders. All the harnesses were chewed and every switch, hose and crevice was filled with worm web. It suffered from the common blight of non-OEM parts: master switch, carb, CDI and stator. Many parts were missing, rusted, bent or broken. You could tell someone tried to look after it, but these old rigs are picky! the current owner got it started, i ran it around to listen to the engine, run all the gears and check front axles. Except for a hard neutral light, all was good. I lost all my purchase pix but here’s after i started stripping the racks.

1 pointI sell used parts on ebay but can make some better deals off of ebay. I only ship within the USA and can send an invoice via paypal. I'm attaching a link to my ebay store, if you see something you need just shoot me an email or message me on here. We have new inventory every week! 1 pointLast week end I used the lead sled to try out various hand loads I had made for my new to me Rem 700 with Timney Trigger & Magpul Hunter stock with box mag. Burris Veracity 5x25x50 front focal plane scope. Managed some good results. So today I made a few more reloads to try. I have seated them a little deeper, added a tenth of a grain more powder & I’ll see how I do this week end. I use a chronograph as well to keep eye on things. Hornady 162 ELD-X bullets.

1 pointIm not sure what an MC2100 is but our machine is pretty big. I could probably get in it if i really wanted too.

1 pointhttps://atvhonda.com/forum/20-for-sale-trade-wanted/ We have this area. Since you're a parter-outer I would suggest linking to your ebay store and maybe listing new bikes you aquire as you start to tear them down.
-
1 point2 pages and you ain't bought it yet? FYI: In my area. A 1000 dollar four wheeler would have been gone in less than 4 hrs.
-
1 point😂 Not the wife part but I do have some great friends who are trustworthy and would let me borrow a truck, boat or trailer. Same for them. If someone calls your bluff on the borrow their wife deal you got real trouble on your hands now lol
-
1 pointFirst purchase for the engine rebuild was made today. Nothing too serious but I know I need it and wanted go ahead and get it coming. https://www.ebay.com/itm/402248265110 - $40 shipped at time of purchase

1 pointQuestion for her should be how much she wants to see you over the next little while as you will be in the garage and out of her hair working on it. Whether that helps or hurts your cause... I don't know 😂 Don't do it to make money IMO but if you want to get into the shop and work on something for the fun of it then go load it up.
-
1 pointYou figured right on the Big Gun lol I used to run one of those and I remember having no issues with it. Long gone now though. Wanna say it was a 350 Yammy Warrior (Terrible bike) My machines have enough performance. I don't race and if I wanted to go faster I could get a 450r quad or dirt-bike and just go full life-insurance policy with it but I don't want to. The idea of revving higher than the limiter is not attractive to me anymore. I have one in my scooter but if I had it to do over again it would be kept full stock.

1 pointI know Wheeler a while now , he would tell like it is ----- I don't think he minds the punishment , he is all about gains --- LOL

1 pointwell... reckon there's just some things that take a low priority .. on my list of things to reserch ..... baby showers, and coming out of closet would be on that list.. lol

1 pointI will never do estimates , I will give a "pre-hands on" guess'timate , it comes with an advance notice of don't hold me to that price , could be less if things go well ------ once I start working on it , the clock is running , much of what I do is troubleshooting , so to give someone an estimate to fix their machine , takes time and work to find the problem ----- and that ain't free ---- Caterpillar here for road service work on site is $190-$225 per hour depending how far you are from their shop , road time to the job and back to shop You can do the same exact job , on the exact same type of machine , 5 times and there will be a problem here and there on this one and not that one , never fails , so many times the job that you feel is going to be hard turns out to be easy and it is the easy job that turns into a nightmare because of unforeseen events I understand why the dealerships don't want to work on machines 10 years or older , I am not that bad with 10 years , but I turn away a lot work on the 1970-80s model equipment that you can see are junk that was never taken care , that is a nightmare every time , turns into a restoration project cause everything you touch is messed up Another thing is friends and relatives , it is best to not work for them , believe me , what I do is use the barter system with friends and it works out better that way ------- if I really don't want to do the job and a friend is persistant and says what you want , usually asking for his truck , boat or wife for the weekend ends the deal quick , LOL

1 pointmy brother-in-law gave me a few cottonwood trees.... had been down for at least 6 months .... and never did cure oure out even after sawed up .. but i did take it... and even mixing it with other types didnt help... it was always a cottonwood log left on the grates ... and Sycamore ... yes that also is low on my list... I've used it before, and cured it burns like paper, but it's a rare tree around my area ...

1 pointPeople will pay extra for that color here in the States , don't know about where you are as they were sold there , could be a good flip I am just the opposite as Shade' on the CDI , I would buy a Rick's Motorsport CDI before OEM every time , a lot cheaper and better as it will remove the rev limiter on a 1996 and adjust the timing curve , I still have 5-300 and 4 of them have Rick's , 2 are 96's, ---- Don't you already have a Rick's on the 300 you got now

1 pointDo you know what a baby gender reveal party is ? It is before the shower so people know which gender presents to buy --- Is is big down here , they come up with ways to surprise the father and everyone else with the baby gender from the ultra-sound , they blow things up that throws colored powder all over the place , only thing is I have only seen the colors in pink for a girl or blue for a boy , guess the other 64 colors come later at the coming out the closet party

1 pointI thought some of the part prices were steep, but your explanation certainly cleared that up. Honda parts are cheap compared to other brands. Arctic Cat parts are stupid high. So are Polaris. Dang air filter for the RZR 170 I got for the kids was about $30, and it was a paper/ non cleanable filter if I got OEM. I got a UNI instead so i can at least clean it and reuse it. Was still $30! Labor I'd do at least 1/2 of what your local Honda shop charges. The tricky part on this is if you twist off a bolt, you spend hours and $$$ fixing it, but do you put that on the bill or not? I would say no, but then again, how many times has something like that happened because a prior owner overtightened a little 6MM bolt? Doing it right to keep the customer happy without shorting yourself is a tight rope I don't really want to walk, so for now I'll keep working for beer. LOL
-
1 pointLOL. Shade makes projects a lot nicer than I do. If I just figure in part prices I probably do ok on flip bikes. If I figure in anything for labor I'm probably paying myself $3/hour.
-
1 pointThat should be all you need bud. There is a filter in the tank on the top of the petcock. And then this one as a last line of defense. Those lawn mower style filters IMO have always been alittle over kill. And they have a tendency to get restrictive over time.
-
1 pointyour right, ff.... he doesn't get payed enough .... at least that's my thoughts on it...
-
1 pointMan. I'm glad you got it running but I'm honestly cringing looking over those pictures. Anything that smashes out and makes its way into the oil will make its way into a screen or filter. It is just a matter of how much and whether it will affect anything. If that engine is filled properly and the valves are adjusted but the top end is loud like it is starving for oil you will know why. My recommendation if you are not going to redo it all is to change the oil three or four times in the first hundred miles.

1 pointI bought an old Cycle Country manual lift kit for my Kolpin plow. It is part number 15-0015; the old part number 15-0010 will fit this quad but the drawbar is too short to clear the foot wells on newer quads. 15-0015 is called the extended manual lift kit—the draw bar is 2-3 inches wider than the 15-0010. the kit installs on a push tube assembly that is prepped for this type of manual lift. It will have a welded on flange and eyelet on the left side tube. So here is the installed kit on the plow assembly. i bought a set of NOS plow mounts for this old girl, too.

1 pointfinale update: here she is all done, i'm not gonna do anything else to her. i will post these pics in the for sale thread.

1 pointyeah...some hollywood nut made movies where a sawed off shotgun is able to splatter like 15 guys at once with one round and they all blow in half with body parts flying 40 feet back into the air...and so, now, short barrels are considered weapons of mass destruction..cause oh my ..the spread on a barrel that's 1 inch shorter could probably blow up an entire coliseum...whatever...it is what it is..and screwing with a half inch just isn't worth the risk, nor will it gain a benefit....

1 pointJeep I finally got those parts installed yesterday—man they look good! Knocked that thick green film of COVID off the taillight and grommet—i see now i musta got it bunched up in there. A little armor-all will make it seat better. need to paint the spring. I had to used a tubing sleeve to get the drain plug to fit but it will sure keep daubers from nesting in the air box! thanks again please lmk if there’s something you need!
-
1 pointGot a taillight, airbox drain cap and a mudguard support from Jeep on Monday. outstanding gift @jeepwm69 thanks very much! s😎. so much fun making this old tank happy again—

1 pointOh man Retro you bet I’d love to use that—I’ll pm ya and I’ll have some return fire on ya too. i temp hardwired a waterproof switch from the accessory circuit to the fan. my friend repaired an old cooler carrier—i got it off a rollover—he got a 5 gal keg of homebrew off me for that one. i can’t wait to get this thing on the trail!
-
1 pointThanks FF it’s 3M Conspicuity reflective tape. Same color and i ordered it in same width as the real deal— has that little diamond pattern just like the real sticker. the real one has a fade front to back pattern
-
1 pointI’ve used Novus on Jeep soft top windows. There are different ones depending on the polish needed. One removed the yellowing and light scratches, and another polished. Looks good!
-
1 pointHere’s some pics of how the Novus plastic polish worked on the air box and toolbox covers. with my Armstrong polisher 💪🏻. use liberally with a soft cloth, like Turtle Wax don’t work it too hard. When it’s dried abit, Use one of those microfiber cloths to buff. i buffed the airbox cover last night—i bought it used from someone who got OD green overspray in it. Completely removed the overspray and shined the surface. worked on the toolbox light for about two minutes for ya
-
1 pointGot almost all the parts hung on this quad. lacking a rear taillight, a rear fender guard spring and two fender guard screws. I need to add some rear fender stripes— Idle was real low so i’ll check the plug to see if it’s running rich. The starter gear seemed like it wanted to skip a little so I’ll check the gear set—might just be the compression release out of adjustment.

1 pointHey @Shadetree here she is with the bonnet on. Oh man yeah it had a Cobra muffler on it and used mufflers are pretty hard to find. So I painted this one up. yeow that 2000F primer and paint is trying to hold up. I ran it up the road about 10 minutes in granny gear—looks like smoke coming off the head I don’t think it’s the header paint. The oil wasn’t 160F, so I’m going to test two spare oil sensors and swap out. lol @Fishfiles no I don’t wanna get it muddy just yet
-
1 pointOk after this post I’ll be caught up. I’ve spent two days painting primer and paint touching up rust spots. lot of worn and missing parts went into this build. I haunted fleabay for months for these: Both hand levers NOS Foot brake lever NOS Front/rear bumpers take offs Fuel tank shield and rubbers Breather box and hoses Complete battery box assembly Air box rubbers Air filter and body Air box cover Carburetor and hoses Brake master cylinder NOS Starter Steps Complete Toolbox assembly

1 pointThis fuel tank was in terrible shape—rusted outside and inside. i put a pound of BBs and two gallons of cleaning vinegar in the fuel tank. I wrapped it in bubble wrap and cardboard—rotated it in my cement mixer for three hours. then i used a magnet to remove the BBs i then mixed a gallon water with several tablespoons of Hot Tub High pH chemical—something hydroxide—sodium carbonate—I cant remember. Anyway i dumped the vinegar out and neutralized with the high pH solution. then dumped it out and dried it with a hair dryer—after drying i swirled around a cup or two of fuel to remove the dried pool chemical—no water! so anyway here it is a year later—pristine
-
1 pointIt hasn’t been too bad Jeep; the old engine guy must’ve gotten into the head to replace a valve—there’s an oddball adjuster in there. I couldn’t get it to start after i got it home, so i pulled the fenders to get a good look at it. The choke and throttle cables weren’t mating to the knockoff carb, the starter was squealing, the fuel tank was rusty mess! The racks had crushed the fender into the right side harness area, chafing nearly all the wire bundles. Here’s pix of some of the damage. Took me all winter to find and rebuild every single wire harness on the quad. I used wires and connector parts from some old harnesses, too.
