messed up foot this past weekend and it’s slowly doing something. Hopefully getting better. Foot shifter has been whacked a bit since I got it on the road. Found out it isn’t factory. Folding one off motorcycle. Pins were wore out and made part foot contacted loose. inspecting RMATV I realized Foreman’s is a solid piece. Put one on order along with a shifter extension(15” moose). Really like both. Foot is thanking me(and wife will let me ride atv while foot heals) shifter extension fits perfect with plastic. Had to persuade it outboard a bit but it’s just the right length.

We have 28 degrees out right now and the maples are bright red. Fall seems to be about 10 days or more ahead up here. This should kill the last of the mosquitoes. Hunting season Saturday!!! I love this time of year.

As those in chat know. I intend to put my 450 to work. Picked up a 40 dollar blade this morning. Light enough to not beat up front end but heavy enough for snow and light loose dirt leveling. Has mount beam that sits nicely under engine. Just gotta figure out a mount. and remember how to use my welder. the latter is likely the challenge.

I know I might get tarred and feathered for putting this one here but I'll do it anyway and take the risk. First off I'd rather have a Honda but getting one in good condition and a good price is hard to do and I really don't feel like a project. I'm wanting something that is reliable and don't want anything that needs very much work on it. I found a 2006 Kawasaki Bayou 250 that looks to be in very good shape except for the tires and a rip in the seat. The tires look to be original. They're asking $1,000 for it but I should be able to get it for a little less. Do any of you know how good these are or aren't? All opinions are welcome. https://images.craigslist.org/00e0e_8Z7viXb7QLn_0t20CI_1200x900.jpg https://images.craigslist.org/00J0J_2oVGvvKx69S_0t20CI_1200x900.jpg

hardest part right now locating a good deal is hunting season is nearing, and a ton of 4-wheelers will be up for sale everywhere.

i sure can tell alot of you folks don't look on cl's much ?!..lol.

anytime you see an atv that has a gmail, or in the 800 dollar range on CL's ?..IT'S A SCAM !!!.
  11. 2 points
the only reason its hard to shift with your foot ( a good foot ! ), is because you got those stupid floor boards on there !. this is the number one reason when i get a atv, and those are on it ?, they go straight to the trash !!.
  12. 2 points
Yep , I have a couple of them Moose foot shifter , 22 incher on my 450 and 15 inchers on my 300s , I like them , works well when your mudding and you are standing with both feet on the same floorboard or if you have to walk it out a hole I think you should look into converting your bike to ES with your foot and all , and then with all your China stuff , we can have a ball in Chat !!! , LOL

Rebuilt a Bayou 250 engine in 2017 - machine was overall very clean, but the timing chain let go and tore some stuff up inside After rebuild, it ran very quiet and smooth and what I noticed is that pulled really hard and fast all they way thru the very last gear I was impressed for a small machine I was sold on Honda along time ago, but I could see the comparable Japanese quality inside the older motor that you do not see so much now days. I also pulled a Bayou 300 4x4 out of the weeds years ago when I was first starting out for $100.00-owner just wanted it gone It needed a front gear box that I got off ebay for 50.00 shipped Had not been started in many years but it had had a tarp over it and was pretty clean Got a new battery and went to turn it over to get oil flowing and Boom! it fired right up on the oldest smelling gas I have ever smelled- the fumes just about killed you while it was running No idea how it ran on that gas but I had much respect for that....With fresh gas and oil change it literally ran like new Cleaned it up and sold for 1500- buyer was super happy and so was I.... My biggest Kawasaki gripe is on on the inside of the engine (and any others that do.... --ARCTIC CAT) Why put red loctited phillips headed screws inside an engine case?- dear lord what a pain to remove..... I tried heat and impact and every trick I knew and managed got a couple out but had to tackweld a nut on 2 just to get them out I know red loctite takes heat to remove but these were just insane thought I was going to ruin the cases Anyways, although I am partial to Honda, I would recommend an older Bayou 220/250 or a 300 any day, if they are in good shape they will last a long time and would make a good machine for a young one to start out out on Just my 2 cents Good luck and let us know what you find/settle on

Man the old Kawasaki 300's in the 90's were some tough machines. Had hi and low range too. I'm not familiar with the 250's, but the 220's and 300's were tough back in the day. Friend of mine still has a 98ish 300 Bayou. Honda parts are cheaper, and Hondas are easier to work on, but those old Bayous weren't bad bikes at all in my experience.

there not a honda ... ... but as for as possibly the worst atv ?? i think Polaris still holds that trophy high... IMO it's a good looking machine .. at one time there were a few running around my area ...

I'm looking on facebook quite a bit too. CL is loaded with scams but it's usually not too hard to pick them out. I looked for a long time before I found mine and it was on facebook. This guy had his number on there and it matched with the area. I sent him a text but he hasn't replied yet. I'll probably pass this one up and wait for a Honda even if I have to pay more.

It looks really clean and I'd bet most of the time it was ridden on asphalt and that may be why the tires are worn as much as they are.

Won’t get my grief. I’ve owned a brand new 1994 Bayou 220 & would own another. They were beasts! So fast! I got nailed by the cops going 90km/hr in a 50Km/hr. Tough bikes. Didn’t know that ever made a 250 though only 220 & 300
  20. 2 points
That worked perfectly! I got it off thanks man!

Heat!!!!! Hit it with a torch and it will move for sure bud. To do it off the axle you would need something with splines on it to slide it over. No better way. Also remember the jam nut is reverse threaded. Once you get it off you will want to hit it with a wire wheel and cover it in wd40 or some sort of lubricant. It should be able to turn all the way across the threaded sleeve by hand when you get it good and clean.

My 86s both have the drums with the black plugs as do my work 87s. The 86 drums should be a smaller diameter? than the 87s. LMK if you want me to measure for you; an 86 backplate probably won’t fit the Foreman because the brake lines would be different length—either longer or shorter due to difference in diameter. You might be able to fit the wrong hub on there but the shoes might not fit the hub properly. Good question I’ve never had a Foreman so i don’t know if those drums used the red plugs. My 93 300 uses the red plugs.

this has nothing...and i mean nothing to do with when it was made ?..this is an after market product that does more harm than good. ride with your foot level ?..problem solved !.

Yep took the pic of the 135 this year raking with it. This will be it's last year raking silage may still do hay with it. Need to switch to a bigger twin rotor rake. Grandfather bought that new in 1971, she won't be going anywhere, too much sentimental value. The White we have is technically an "AGCO White" so it was made after White was bought out by AGCO. It's basically just a Massey 6270 with a Cummins in it. They use the 6BT engine. It's probably my favourite tractor, love running it, love the sound of the Cummins.

Wow- 5 packs of JB Weld! thats a solid repair for sure ☺️ I think the Steelstick I am using by JB Weld is the same thing- its a grey putty stick that comes in a tube with a black center filling you just cut it off a piece and knead it until its a uniform grey color- then stick it where you need it It sets up rock solid in about 10-20 minutes depending on temperature it gets warm to the touch while setting up It worked pretty well for me so far That window screen is a great idea too- kind of like when they put rebar in cement for strength

Using JBWeld one that comes to mind. I broke the pivot ball for the clutch linkage off the bell housing of my truck. I used 5 packs of JBWeld and some window screen and repaired it. I found a new bell housing and never did change it I have been buying MinuteMend instead of JB. I like it better. It is like a tootsie roll with a center filling and you kneed the Stuff together. With you fingers. the window screen works well , you put some putty down then you put the screen on top and put another layer on top of the screen and it gives it strength

An old Suzuki king quad in super low is decent for a kid, top speed 25kms...

Smart move IMO 👍 Everyone goes from their personal experience and mine with the Bayou could not be worse. I am so thankful that I'm not being brought these anymore. Have a bit of a soft spot for Polaris because the scrambler was so fun... but I would have to agree overall they are the king of avoid this brand.

Yep...he knew it was as soon as they said 'Its my mom's here's her email'.... Its not hard to spot. One's that have 4 ads with the same ATV in different orientations(Gleaned several pics from different ad and re-use them). Anyway, no one got scammed...just frustrating how many are on Craigslist.

Are you looking on FB marketplace? CL is kinda old-hat for selling four wheelers
  34. 1 point
I'll agree 100% that a Recon is what I want if I could find a clean one for a good price. I have found a couple but they sold before I could get to them. I'd even consider a Rancher even though I think that's more than what they need. Maybe I'll get lucky and this one will sell before I can get to it.

For something like you talking about to happen once , twice , even 6 times certainly could be , but I think for it to happen 100 times would seem highly unlikely , especially since there has been no rain in such a long time and all the fires are so evenly spread out
  37. 1 point
I can understand it happening days after a strike but this was 2 1/2 weeks after any weather we might have had. Where this started is heavily used by hikers. They have all trails in the area closed so no one can even go take a look other than forest service personnel or law enforcement.

Yup, we talked about some of his thefts on another forum. He stole the source code for DOS from an alcoholic and the poor man ended up homeless and died while living on the street. He's an evil psychopath... has no conscience, no empathy, no concerns at all for his fellows. And he admits those facts. He works for the royal family & their central bankers. He, his wife and their children have never been vaccinated. Vaccines are for cattle and sheep, according to Bill. He's right about that IMO.

Sure did. Just like anyone who owns a company of that magnitude. Same can be said about Steve Jobs, Bezos, Branson, Musk pretty much anybody who rises to that level. At least Bill has committed to giving away a large portion of his money. Can't totally discount their foundation... they have done some good work. He (in my mind) could be doing a lot worse. Charles ‘Chuck’ Feeney the owner of "duty free" stores in the airport has to go down as the best billionaire in history. https://metro.co.uk/2020/09/16/billionaire-89-says-hes-happy-to-be-broke-after-giving-entire-8bn-fortune-to-charity-13281560/

I guess i kinda worded that wrong. It wont ruin the carrier. It will ruin the bearings. But to alot of people that does ruin the carrier. Most just replace both. I personally have a shop press and just rebuild mine. But the biggest issue for this dude is he has told me he keeps the airbox lid on because he rides alot of mud. And deeper water. His hubs (and i say hubs because im sure both are bad). Are not gunna have any place for the seals to ride. Which will allow all that mud and water a nice open gap to come right on in and ruin the bearings again.

Hi: Big Welcome Here ---- This may help --- Wrong Picture
  44. 1 point
To properly tighten the axle nut you have to be able to crank down preload on the bearings. This is the reason there is a sleeve in between the bearings. You tighten the nut with a hub with not enough flat surface it turns into a wedge. It will eventually force its way into the inner race and the bearing will detonate. My quad i have now had this happen. Previous owner wasnt exactly the sharpest tool in the tool shed. He ran it until it locked up. It ruined the sprocket hub. He then baught a brandnew lonestar carrier. Cranked the nut tight and he made it 20 minutes after fixing it before it seized again. He accepted his inability to fix it and traded it to me. I fixed it at his house so i could ride it before doing the trade. I am running the lonestar carrier he put on it rightnow lol. I keep 2 carriers so i can rebuild one with new bearings and seals and have it ready for battle lol

All I want is the engine. I’ve been talking with a buddy who isn’t on here but is on the FB page. He wants parts off it. So looks like a win/win.. (I’ll see if he will join here) I want to build a full 400bbk engine.

CamKnough, I am not a forester, and this is a legitimate question, Don't you think it would have started sooner with 3 days of sustained wind prior to its actual start day? When it started there wasn't a stitch of wind. A guy that I work with was just below the mountain where it started and he said it was calm air, then within five min was burning like crazy. I dont know seems suspect to me. The investigator that sis all the explaining wasn't even from this area. Like I said, the only rain we had was almost 2 1/2 weeks prior to the fire and there really wasn't any lightning activity then. We'll never know🤔
