that reminds me when was about 13, or 14 .... i helped an older gentleman .... do firewood, might have be one of my 1st times.... and sure enough he had some elm .... it was a blow down on my fathers farm, and my pop gave him the tree, told me to help him....we sawed it up, loaded it, hauled back to his place, he said you can split some.... all he had a sledge and three wedges, well he sat back and we talked while i split, and... i went to work on this one -/:;$ log, and drove one wedge in, and he said stop, and we waited you could hear the log popping..... then he handed me another wedge, i drove it in, on the side split, same deal i stopped and listened to the log pop, then he looked at it, said he had never seen an elm log so twisted up, he said try the other wedge, end result was, we never did that log to split.... lol! and one wedge was buried so deep, we couldn't get it out, he didnt have a chainsaw, he had one borrowed, there was only one way, i loaded the load in his furness, and we recovered the wedge the next day... every since then... I've tried my best to stay clear of elm.... lol!

our big chevy dealer in town used to have at least 30 silverados in various flavors on the lot...they have 2 plain white trucks right now...and anytime I take my 2011 duramax in for any service, it's an immediate "hey..you want to sell?" used to be they'd try to get me to trade in..now they just want to buy...cause they've got nothing to trade me up to. but that was the last new truck I planned to buy when I did.. I'm coming up on 65...debt free from here out...so...new car shortages are not a part of my watchlist.

I gave up on the Class A motorhome and decided to go pickup and travel trailer. I got very, very lucky and found a 2021 Tundra scheduled to be built and one day away from not making changes. Going to wait a month for it but it's the way I want it. Of course as soon as you try to get any deal the salesman looks past you and says Next to the dozens of buyers in line behind you. I can also sell my 2011 Element for a higher price so that helps.

not the 350 Rancher head, that wouldn’t work. The older 350 Foreman head and cylinder will swap as an assembly, you do need a reverse grind cam and will have to custom build an exhaust and top motor mount. It’s much the same as swapping over a 300EX head. The whole thing is quite involved and I think there are some new big bore kits on the market now that are probably a better option. Although you wouldn’t be getting that 4 valve head.

I hadn't thought about product shortages in our beloved ATV market..but makes sense. many of our local new car lots are extremely low on inventory on their lots. And new boat dealers have been complaining that they can't provide simple things like the bimini top/frame for new pontoons..etc. And with so many ATV products coming from Asia..yeah..makes sense. all the more reason I guess to hang on tight to my beloved old Japan/USA made toys. I treat them easy..mainly cause I'm old and need to treat myself easy (grin). But for sure I'll have to make these old vintage bikes last the balance of my years..and honestly, that's ok too. I love to old hondas.

A little update on the 2001. I let the friend I got the 2001 from have his bike back for what I gave him for it. He is happy as can be, he had had the bike for years and was really glad to get it back. He is aware of the work you guys put into trying to fix it and is very appreciative of your effort. Thanks guys for making him happy.

I didn't even get my 350 build 300 completely done and I was tired of replacing all the other parts of the machine. It did win a lot of mud races though. I'm glad those days are behind me on now it's the kids problem to spend all that money. On topic: Nice job, simple but does the purpose. All I ever ran was a cooling fan but most of the time the motor was under water so it was "water cooled".

I wanted to say thanks to all the info on the 90’s 300’s in here. These forums were a tremendous help. Brought one back from neglect. First time doing anything like this. Took my time. Frustration. Patience. Frustration. Slow. Pretty much in that order. I had Polaris’ growing up but never gave them this attention. Haven’t had a wheeler in 15 years. What was done to the ole girl- Carb rebuild Piston rings Valves-new and lapped Rockers spaced All gaskets and seals for top end Front brakes-me no like drum brakes Ball joints Front bearings New CV’s Wire wheeled A arms and painted Wire wheeled bumper and racks and painted Tire rods Front diff was seemingly in good shape CDI and coil New ignition Had to get the red R button on the reverse lever New vent lines all around Rear brake delete Double bearings in the rear backing brake Rear backing brake shaved down Wire wheeled the axle New nuts all around on the axle New seals in the rear diff-the bearings were seemingly ok-scared of the needle bearing in the diff Grease zerk in the axle holder Just synced up the throttle play, throttle screw and idle screw today. Lots of cleaning-lots of wire wheeling bolts And of course basic maintenance-spark plug, lubes, air filter and anti-seize and loctite where needed. She purrrrrrs. I don’t have the tally on the total money yet. I’m pretty stoked tho. First ride about an hour ago. Think I’m addicted to the resilience of the 300’s. Think I’m addicted to the 300’s period.

I just sold my big flat a few weeks back and had a box of tools in it that I didn't let go , opened it up and found all kinds of goodie , this adaptor was in there , it fits onto the same plug pigtail of my battery tender plugs and turn the cord into a power source on the atv , pretty handy thing , can't remember where I got it from

Drove past my grandfather's Buick/GMC dealership (he sold it in 1990) this morning. Not a single car on the lot other than employee vehicles.

Hey guys, I'm back. As some of you that followed the 2001 shift problems, I bought a 2000 Foreman to sort of use as needed. I finally got finished with it and one of the grandsons has taken over it so I'm going to try and start on the 2004. I'll need help!

Splitting Elm? I found a nearly magical way to do it. Get the kids to do it for me.

I used to have a well used speedo set for the 300 but I have no idea where I put it. Wouldn’t be worth more than $100 but the likely hood of me finding where I left it is slim haha

So, I dropped a few trees last weekend and the wife was the only one on the mower. And she only mowed the small area of the front yard so never turned it off. But I came home a little early today and started mowing because the big area I cut has gotten pretty thick. After about 2.5 hours (maybe 1/4 done with everything) I stopped and let it idle about 15-20 minutes, turned it off about 3-4 minutes later tried to restart and it restarted with a pop. But it restarted and ran. It’s definitely better but i wouldn’t say it’s resolved. I’ve adjusted valves, replaced the fuel pump and replaced the fuel solenoid. I also put have a bottle of octane boost in my last 5 gal can which should have upped the octane from 87 to 88, maybe 89 (the only non ethanol around here is 87 octane). Things left: insulate fuel lines (picked up foil tape today) and replace coils. Also plugs, though they’re not that old.

Works great for me.. I was looking to stiffen the ride and make it track more firmly (the old shock was original OEM). The middle of the adjustment range did that just fine. My 500 weighs in the neighborhood of 800 lbs, I add 300 lbs, so your results will probably be different. The Bronco product was the relatively inexpensive shock option. The other shocks that offer more adjustment are more $... in some cases lots more. Let us know what you decide and how it works out. Eric

I guess this is a good of a thread as any for this story , 8/5/21 Just got off the phone with my buddy who lives in BrookHaven , Mississippi , the Honda dealership there has always had the best prices and best selection for years , many Louisiana guys go there , well Robbie just told me , he went there over the weekend for an oil filter , air cleaner and spark plug and there is not one Honda atv or utv on the lot , owner told him they can't get them , two atvs are allotted to him at the moment and have never arrived yet and they are already sold and paid for

You want the "T" on the flywheel for TDC, not the 2 marks.

I saw awhile back that Larson had come out of retirement. His stuff was always hilarious. Not sure that our society today will be thick skinned enough to enjoy his work.

As fish has stated if you dont have the SM you can download the one for your model for free here. The main menu line has the link, it will come in handy for most any problem or question you will have and give you most all the info you need.....

If you can figure out a way to let the cap vent air in you'll eliminate that or prove it.

My guess would be a problem with number 6 in this print , the bolt backed out or sheered off or the spring broke
