I've been spending nearly every evening fishing off a small pier at our campground located on Bon Secour Bay in Mobile Bay. I'll catch Croakers in 2# line and hook them on the 30# braided 7' medium heavy Ugly stik for Cats. Last night someone fishing at the corner where I catch the Catfish immediately pulled in their line when I approached. It's know that I pull in the fish from that spot. I felt bad so tonight a kid about 15 came down to watch. No rod. Told him if he had a rod I'd set him up. He came back with a 6# test rig. While setting his drag and getting him baited up I had a bite on my rod. Told his Mom who came back with him to go ahead and catch it. She landed a 25.5" cat. Young son managed to bring a nice one right up to the pier before he let his rod get too straight and the cat broke his line. OK, set up my rig for him and he caught his first fish. A 24 inch Catfish. I have successfully converted another kid to the good side.

🤣😂 It is, was -13 when I lit the fuse, they shot off for 24 minutes. Was pretty spectacular if I do say myself, always amazed at what kind of show you can put on with class "C" fireworks. Now I get to go clean the mess up🥴, its still -4 at 11:30. Here's a pic of the set up before I shot it.

Read a Sci-Fi short story as a kid. Can't remember or find the name of it. Earth is overpopulated, everything is concrete and a search has begun for a new planet with natural resources intact for mankind to transition to. Main character is a young girl who helps out her elderly neighbor some, and as the last ships are leaving Earth, she realizes that her neighbor is still back at home. She rushes there to find him digging a hole in the concrete, and she panics as the last ship leaves earth in a cloud of exhaust. She says they've missed their chance to go to "New Earth" and the old man responds "No we didn't. This is the new earth. They took the old one with them" as he plants a tree in the hole he's busted in the concrete.
