Hey everyone north of the Mason Dixon line (and some south of it) Fishfiles and I are sending some warm and moist Gulf air to y'all starting this weekend. Do with it what ya please but be aware that our little gift mixed with your cold air is going to result in some pretty hilarious car slip/ sliding videos on the news for us to enjoy.🙂

from the looks of the top of the piston pic you posted ^^^, that is a ton of oil burnt on the valve area. when you rebuilt the top end, what kit , as in..did you use the complete kit, piston, rings, cylinder, all new ?, if you just used a new piston with new rings, and just used your old cylinder ?, then that maybe your problem. a worn connecting rod wont be good either. any time i rebuild a top end, i make sure the rings fit the cylinder, by pushing them each down into the cylinder to check for fit, if the end gap is too much ?, it will smoke !. its also very posb you bent a ring while installing the cylinder down on the piston. one thing i have learned in all my years of working on atv's and rebuilding engines ?..DO NOT RUSH THE JOB !.

The green plug is the actuator. Wire it as instructed above. The other two plugs are speed sensors so you can snip the wires off or simply tie them out of the way.

Not sure how I missed this one. Not sure how I missed this thread, but if it only smokes when recently ridden, I would agree with your assessment that it's oil leaking down through the valve seals. There is a crankcase vent hose that is on the left rear of the engine and goes to the airbox. Does it smoke under load? If you have a bad rod that's egging out the cylinder it should be wearing things to the point where it will smoke if you ride it hard at all. My 09 has a bad rod and it made noise for awhile, then started smoking under load. Doesn't smoke when cruising, only when I put a load on it in the mud or revving it up. Your symptom sounds more like a head issue to me.

I'm sorry for your loss. According to my family, I'm "not a dog person" because I don't treat my dog better than I treat my children LOL. That said, they become family and losing them is always just as hard as losing a close friend or family member. I have a big bumbling clumsy Labradoodle now. He's a big oaf, but so am I so we get along for the most part.
