After taking down it back apart I see what I did, I didnt put a little grease to help it slide on smoothly so it’s bunched up will post photos. Hopefully so no one else makes the same mistake.

That appears to be Webers on the engine in an AC Cobra. I got to ride in an original 427 AC Cobra one time. Many, many years ago my son and I were at a Shelby show at Brown County State Park in Indiana where two guys were giving short rides in their original AC Cobras. I didn't think anybody would let you sit in an AC but these two guys were actually giving rides. The one I rode in had a 427 and my son rode in a 289 car. My son said his driver punched it when he turned around and my son grabbed a grab handle that was in the car. He said the guy laughed and said that he had to grab it a couple times himself. Jambalaya for breakfast yesterday morning at our LSU tailgate party on the porch ---- then it was onto drinking ---- after 7 hours of smoking I took the Boston Butt off and pulled and cut it into pieces , lubed it up with Sweet baby ray's and cooked it on low on the grill for a hour and a half , drained the juice a couple of times and boy is it good ---- before the game we heard a crack a few times and then this limb hit the ground, that's the tree that died , what a shame , big oak , well got fire wood

Sometimes the shaft will wear a groove in it. The seal should be flat against the case surface when drove in all the way. Even with using protective measures on the output shaft it's possible to knock the spring loose on the seal and without that little tension it will leak.

My Dad had a 65 impala SS. Was bluish purple. 327. Think they also came 427 that year.
