I'll be tearing back into the 450 soon. I need to take the exhaust off as the exhaust studs are wore out and the gasket is shot so it's loud and leaks profusely. Also, the steering stem bushing disintegrated and the handlebars move around like a plane yoke. No other updates besides needing to change the master cylinder out.

So anyways, let me tell you about why our country is going to crap.... 😅

Just got home and grabbed a pic of the garden 4 weeks later. Looks like the fertilizer was a hit for the tomatoes. Could see another crop if we don't get a hard frost in another few weeks. Butter crunch lettuce and cauliflower are loving life too. Garlic has made it's slow progress into life but the squirrels are digging around them. I fertilized with chicken manure and put in some phosphate too.

Nice! I tried carrots last year and they started out great but then just withered away. My cabbage didn't do so hot either, just never got big, looked healthy though. I think it was those roots that took over sucking the nutrients and water from the little plants. I have some pots I could probably plant something in so I may try to grow something.

Anyone getting ready for a fall planting?? I have to filter my soil of all the roots and restart the boxes with soilcloth/plastic on the bottom to keep the roots out. Le sigh.

My soil WAS good but I think that tree or whatever is growing in there is sucking it down. I added a couple photos of my problem mesh root system and the tree I think it is. I tried to grow some peas but they were in a big pot and I don't think they got enough water to really take off. I have one huge cucumber I need to take off but it still has a a tiny skinny bottom.

River, we're wrapping up here too. The cucumbers and peppers are still going though. My garlic have all died and are non existent unfortunately. I think the heat killed them. I need to get a box further in the shade. Speaking of boxes, I have something growing into my boxes and I suspect it's sucking the nutrients from my veggies. I think it's the white oak tree in the neighbors yard. It's like a mesh network of roots. I'll get a picture tomorrow. Needless to say, this winter will be me emptying the boxes and shaking the dirt out of the roots onto a tarp so I can put plastic soil cloth down under the boxes to prevent this from happening again hopefully. Other than that it was a pretty good season

That's cool! Yes it's definitely unique and has style in my opinion. Only think better is the Honda XR650v Africa twin. Really neat bike too. They are almost identical,but the AT is a little more off-road than the TA but not that much.

I recently, right before I came to work, picked up this Honda rarity. It's a 1989 Honda XL600V Transalp locally from a gentleman that had hundreds of old motorcycles from the 70s and 80s. He used to have a moto shop and retired and sold most of his stock parts to David Silver of David Silver Spares. I plan on doing a portion of the Trans American Trail with a buddy of mine who will start in CA and come east in Sept. I'm giving it a refresh with new bearings and fork seals, fluids, etc. Anyways here it is!

Finally got home after 8weeks on the ship. But our tomatoes are doing great. Cherries and Roma are producing now and the heirlooms have budded so should see tomatoes in a few weeks. Peppers look a little stunted and need to be stood up better. They are producing a little though. A bunch of my garlic just decided to quit on lift. My dill is outta control, it's like 4ft tall!

Got an update from the wifey the other day of her first harvest. She's been picking cherry tomatoes and eating them too. I get home Fri and she said everything should be getting ripe by then. Cucumbers, banana and serrano peppers, and cherry tomatoes.

That's a good point on the 2x stuff. And probably most of my issues has been not letting it cure long enough and being impatient. I know when I did my rims they hung in the hot attic for a month while I was at work. The paint appeared to be very hard set. Also, prep is 90% of the job. The better the prep the better the final product.

Nice! I used vht wheel paint plus a couple coats of primer on mine but only did it last year and 1 ride off-road so far. They were in worse shape than yours so I did a full job on them. I did use aerosol version Raptor bed liner for my racks which has a similar texture. It will be interesting to see how they fair. Duplicolor was next on my list and I'll probably get that for my other projects. Rust-Oleum just doesn't hold up in some applications.

Got an update from the wife, the previous peach picture was from last Wednesday. Here they are today. Growing quickly!

Got my spring/summer crop planted before I went to work and rigged up a temporary watering system on a timer. Soil test came back with normal sodium levels so that's good news. Put down compost and and hand tilled up the top layer, saw a lot of worms so that's always a good sign. I planted this time: 4 Roma tomatoes 7 cherry tomatoes 4 cucumbers 2 jalapeno(1 in pot) 1 Tabasco (in pot with jalapenos) 3 sweet peppers 1 shishito pepper in pot 3 squash 1 green bean in a pot We'll get some cilantro when it is available. Apparently everyone is buying it up. Our pea plant is still rolling holding on from winter. I put some Alabama and Georgia peach seeds in the fridge for a few months and they sprouted so I pulled them out and planted them in little potter's.

Has anyone used one of those Eastwood hot staplers for repairing plastic cracks and such? Seems to be something that would work well. It's certainly cheaper than new plastics if it works and is durable. Comes with a bunch of staples for most small jobs so that's a plus. Nice I'm sure I'd have a bunch of questions. Mostly though is what is the grow time for garlic her in Louisiana? Any tips or tricks? Best way to get it growing (fridge for a cold period or just straight from bulb to ground)? Garlic is definitely a gift from God! Cures just about everything. I'm probably going to start planting another batch this time home.
