update: here is the frame painted, all i am going to do as far as the frame goes. got a few parts in today, but no gasket kit...aghhhh !!. so i'mma head back out to shop, do what i can for now, then wait until i get the gasket kit in, that shows ??..too be here friday ( tomorrow ) ?, we'll see how that pans out..lol.

depending on what model this fits ?, if its a 450 or 450es ?, one or the other dpending on year ?, they do not have both the gear position and speed for read outs.

ok..i've only restored about 2 yr models back then, 1 was a 98, other was a 99, and neither one of them had this on them !. i guess i missed out on the '' fix '' .

i just looked up a 1985 big red 250, from what i seen, it does not call for a bearing stopper.

left rear. will be shift side.

left rear axle tube ?, if there is a bearing stopper on the axle on left rear side ?..THEN YES..YOU MUST HAVE IT !.

but the cost diff ?..lol. myself too, i use bxbxq paint rated at 1200f, it seems to hold up pretty good for me.

its deff cheaper to run them, or a battery tender on them when they are going to sit up for a few days ?.

buy from rocky mountain atv. they are the cheapest around right now that i know of ?.

update: well..from the looks of my tracking numbers on an order or two ?, some engine parts should get here today, but no gasket kit is in sight ?!..aghhhh..its still somewhere in FL ?, go figure ...right ?. gonna head to wally world here in a bit, pick up some gloss black spray paint, and start getting this frame touched up. will update later.

if i'm not mistaken ?, this '' module '' is made into the display circuit board on the display itself ?, only way to update older displays is to replace the whole display/meter. if i am wrong ? ( happens alot lately..lol ), this module is somewhere on the wire harness ?..i do not know where though.

he will need to see a few pics of it, turn the lights on, light it up, take some pics. @AKATV

my advice: break down, and buy an oem switch from honda !. DO NOT BUY A SWITCH FROM AMAZON OR EBAY!!., they are mostly china knock offs..and they are junk !. only time i go china parts is when honda discontinues parts for what ever i am restoring to own or sell. you are correct, the wire contact points are prob bad on the switch, getting them apart are a royal pain !..unless you got tiny fingers and hands ?, and is very good at taking them apart, and putting them back together ?, i'd advise you NOT to take one apart !.

update: just placed another large order, got both front and rear rims, itp mudlite AT tires, seat, meter, rear axle tube bearing and seal,swing arm bearings, couple new swing arm drive shaft boot bands, upper head light and i'm sure i am forgetting something on this order ?. only thing i need now is a battery and engine oil. no rush on getting all these parts, but i do need the meter in order to run the engine. jeep mailed the carb off, so i need to order a carb rebuild kit for that.

yeah..just checked..but was good to read, the trx300-trx300fw uses the very same gears as the 450fm !. also..the trx400fm is same gears.

the tranny alone is worth what the whole atv was worth.

i gotta get off my butt, get this engine out to my shop, and start tearing it down, all i need is the engine case halves, rear stator cover. i might hold onto the tranny gears ?, never know when i might need those !.

you are correct, if they go into limp mode ( and it would after throwing code ! ), he tossed that atv to the curb..lol.

update: just got back from my buds place. picked up a lower engine skid plate, all rear fender stays are rusted on mine, got them off the frame there. got a better 12 volt outlet, lower steering bearing, dust seal, and snap ring. air temp sensor ( this one was cut at plug !. ), and a complete 450 lower engine that is a mixture of electric shift at the front, and manual shift on rear ?..haha..someone must converted it to manual shift at one point ?..I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THEY WOULD DO SUCH A THING ?!!..( YEAH..RIGHT ! )...ROFL.

all older style ( 300-400-450's ) use flat head slot in the air fuel mixture jet. let me know what the shipping is ?, i'll either send it to ya ?, or i'll pay it forward to the forums here.
