  1. are the carb jets diff by any chance from any other trx500 ?.
  2. we don't mind questions asked...its the questions that do not get asked that we don't like !..lol. most all honda frames do have drain holes, some just get clogged up, or rust up ?. and welcome to our forums. we like pic's !!. post some pics of the damage, we can give you a mention or two on how to go about fixing it.
  3. yep, pretty much the diff needs to come out to make it easier. the nut can be tightened while the front diff is still in frame. it does not use loctite, you will regret this later on..lol. tighten, then carter pin, thats all it needs.
  4. ohm the stator out, see if you have an open circuit ?. a tad of info, spark ( or in this case, voltage ) starts at the stator, this voltage is AC voltage !!!, this ac voltage then goes to the reg/rec to convert this voltage to DC current. keep in mind !!. stators ( most honda stators ) have 2 charging circuits to them, one operates/recharges the battery, the other side sends current to the c.d.i. after it goes through the reg/rec.
  5. what are you calling a power pack behind the battery ?, a pic will help us. what is the full make, model of this atv ?.
  6. stators have to sides to them, one charges battery-operates lights, other side fires spark plug through c.d.i.
  7. bad stator ?, or bad pick up coil ?, or bad c.d.i. ?. could be one of these ?.orall of them !. before you go tossing parts at it...make sure to check the kill switch on handle bars..make sure its clean, and good working order !.
  8. save the 60 bucks, buy oem from rocky mountain atv or partzilla ( partzilla shipping times suck , and the prices are higher ).

  10. no sir, it does not have a front pto, it only has a mid and rear pto for the tractor. the small tiller i am talking about ?, its front tine rotation. picked it up sunday, made by honda, great little machine, light as all get out, easy to run down my garden rows.
  11. update: spent a couple hours last night cleaning parts out, i got most of the cases cleaned, and installed one side of the lower engine with the crank, and tranny all in. waiting on gasket kit, oil seals, cam chain, and carb kit. ordered a first size over shindy piston kit 86.25mm from g&h, when that comes in, i'll run them to my local guy to bore and match piston to cylinder. in the mean time i wait for my parts to come in so i can get the lower engine back together.
  12. install dry only !. just ask jeep ^^^ how that worked out...AFTER I TOLD HIM HOW TO DO IT ?!..LOL.

  14. you are deff in great hands to learn from here !!. i started doing this 30 yrs ago, mostly self taught, it takes years to learn the skill of doing this kinda work.

  16. there is all kinds of ways to bend racks back, i use my shop press most times.
  17. for parts, dont cheap out, buy oem ball joints from honda...NOT AMAZON OR EBAY !. looks like the tie rod is ok from what i see ?. as for the a-arms being bent ?, only way to tell for those is when it comes time to bolt it all back together..otherwise...its a gamble if they got bent or not ?. what year, make, model is this ??. i see foreman on the side panel, but the front bumper does not look like a trx450fm foreman to me. this a foreman rubi ?. prob is..because the trx450fm foreman's did not come with disk front brakes.
  18. got the center split, pulled the oil screen, not sure what caused it to vanish ?..lol, but i figure from oil getting too hot ?..not sure..never seen a screen this bad !. called it a night.
  19. update: here's some tear down pics..and again...atv's are not boats !!. this thing is all kinds of nasty in the engine.

Hey outlaws, i have in my shop from one of the deer hunting buds a 1996 trx400fm that needs the engine looked at. claims it smoked when last ran over 10 yrs ago ?, i '' think '' i asked if it was sunk ?, and he said it may have been ?, if this is the case ?, it will need to be pulled, and gone through. it will get all new oil seals, cam chain, prob bored over and new piston kit, along with all new gaskets. i have no idea the shape of the crank/rod yet ?, as i have not started the tear down yet ?, but may head out to the shop tonight, and start tearing into it, and see how bad it will be ?. i'm sure it will need a complete engine rebuild. i'll keep this thread up to date as i get into the tear down and rebuild.
  21. ah..ok. i do know the front racks will need the holes cut/drilled, never seen a '' cooler carrier '' ?, but front rack ?..yes.

  23. why did you use washers for spacers ^^^ ?, if you have the chrome fittings that go down in the hole, you should not need washers for spacers. every fender on the trx350 fourtrax uses the same hardware to mount the legs to the mounting brackets.
  24. he will have to drill holes in both front and rear fender on the 1986 fenders, they are not drilled, but they are pre-fabbed from the under side , so you can see where the holes must be cut/drilled out.
