  1. can't answer that ^^ ?, all i know is..it will shift in and out at any speed..but i don't go fast anyway when shifting from 2wd to 4wd. maybe you got a bad front diff ?, or a bad control box on yers ?..dont know.
  2. i can go in and out of 4wd on my '03 trx450s at any speed, not sure why you could not ?.
  3. i'd day you got something going on with the carb ?, or fuel filling it ?. all honda's are cold natured, they do not like to sit. my '03 trx450fm can sit for days..weeks..months ?, i can go out there, turn the fuel on, operate the choke, she'll fire right up in no time. i used a shindy carb kit in it.
  4. i've had a couple nibbles..no one has the cash ?..was offered 3500 for the '04 trx450s..turned them down.
  5. rear brakes are prone to go bad..or not work at all when buying used !. dirty carbs from sitting. left rear axle bearing and oil seal. rear diff should be torn down, and inspected for worn bearings, worn ring gear, worn ring gear splines, as well as axle splines where the ring gear rides. axle hub splines worn, the list goes on an on when buying anything used. YOU MUST GO THROUGH EVERY INCH OF THIS ATV TO MAKE SURE ITS IN TIP TOP SHAPE !. don't forget the swing arm bearings as well !. check all cables for sticking..not working ?.
  6. the front diff's don't need 12 volts to work, they will work with less than that. the 450 are great solid engines..cept i don't like es models..i'd rather have a manual shift all day long. i'm not sure if wide open still sells the kick out or not today ?. if you do find one ?, chances are, the drive shaft will need some mod done to it..as the early version 450's have a diff length drive shaft than the later models, i know this..cuz i had to cut a drive shaft to make it fit in an early model.
  7. idle jet is dirty. the primer on these has nothing to do with why they wont start an idle. i don't know why honda put these primers on these ?, its not like it gets 50 below zero here ?, that is what they are for..very cold temps.

  9. i currently have a '04 trx450s that i just rebuilt, have it up for sale @ 4,000 cash, bottom dollar is 3800 cash. also currently rebuilding a '01 trx450s, won't be as pretty as the '04 trx450s ?, but it will be solid engine wise !. will list the '01 trx450s @ 3600 cash, prob settle for 3400 bottom dollar ?. i don't set the prices ?, i just build them.
  10. the front elec diff will NOT be a direct bolt on !. why ?, because the wire harness is NOT the same on the es models..as well as the early models from '98-'01. the front diff on select diff's only work on '02-'04 trx450. you CAN however get retro to make a gizmo that will control the front ele diff if you decide to install it in this es early model, i did it. you will need the throttle control off a later model '02-'04 that has the 2wd-4wd switch made into it.
  11. for 75 bucks or more ?, its cheaper to buy a starter from db electrical. most starter brushes cost as much as a whole starter..soo..why replace the brushes when you can buy a good decent starter with a decent warranty. i always replace the starter, cheaper this way. i replaced my starter in my '89 trx350D foreman over 10 yrs ago from db electrical, its still going strong today.
  12. miaer fenders on it, notice no rear outer splash guards on rear fender ?, also, side panels have screws holding it to frame..famous for miaer fenders..lol.
  13. its a gamble when buying from ebay, over half the sellers on there sell the wrong parts, but '' claim '' it will fit..lol. you better know what you are looking at/for when it comes to buying on ebay !. also, when buying oem parts ?, ALWAYS CHECK RMATV OR PARTZILLA FOR A LOWER PRICE ?!, i've seen sellers on ebay selling meters/displays at a higher price than from rmatv or partzilla, rmatv is where i buy my honda parts.

    its only fun..until yer butt is laid up in the hospital with a huge bill !..lol.
  22. update: i spent all day yesterday getting the front brakes all back together, and one problem after another hit me when getting them to work. first, i could not get any brake fluid to go through the brake lines, then the plunger would not return back out, then the sight glass was leaking, FINALLY after another trip to catfish's place for another brake line, got back home, only to find out, part of that brake line ( top part ) was stopped up as well !..aghhh. sliced my thumb up taking it off the frame on the backing plate, becareful folks..the edge on these are very sharp !. swapped out the top part of the line, got it all back together, then the plunger and sight glass was having fits leaking and not coming back out. grabbed the master cylinder off the trx500faa that is sitting in my yard..HEY..I FINALLY FOUND A USE FOR THESE THINGS !..LOL. got that installed, adjusted my brake shoes out, started pinching the brake line at the master cylinder, got pressure !. front brakes are done now, rear brakes done, still need to paint and install the rear brake drum cover. all brake cables working. engine runs top notch, did have a problem with dirt dobbers stopping up the muffler after i cranked it up, got all that blown out, runs great, even fired up without using the choke at first crank. fuel tank is cleaned out, installed, no leaks, used the petcock from one of the trx500faa bikes, they do fit great, but the knob must be turned 180 to line up with the markings on the side cover to match, easy fix. had a chance to test the tranny out, all gears and reverse work great. still need to paint the rims, picked up some good tires. stayed stock rims on front: 25x8x12, and rear is 25x10x12. i need to do some welding on front bumper, a winch was bolted to it, and did some damage to it, DO NOT BOLT WINCHES TO ANY PART OF THE BUMPERS..OR RACKS !!..winches are suppose to be bolted to the main part of the frame. bumpers and racks CAN NOT TAKE THE STRESS FROM WINCH PULLS !. Once i get the front bumper fixed, i'll paint it, and the racks, start putting plastics back on. still need to get the sub-lights cleaned and installed in the front grill, if anyone does not know ?, the '98 -'01 models use the same headlights as the trx300fw's use !. i did get the rest of the parts from rmatv, heel guards, front fender splash guards ( the large ones ), can't install these until i get the plastics back on. now that i only got 9 fingers to work with ?, it will even be slower putting this back together..lol. if i can remember ??, i'll snap some pic's soon !.

  24. keep this in mind for future reference, there will be a time when a one-way bearing for your model will discontinue one side or the other ?, not a problem !. simply buy the side that still can be bought, flip the bearings around, use it on the bad side !.
