sounds like a bad ignitions switch. bad ground for lights ?, short somewhere in the wire harness. bad connection in light switch. electrical is easy on these models. if you can get it to run, do a test on the reg/rec, see if its putting out voltage from the stator.

i only said to swap it out, because with my '89 trx350D foreman, the master cylinder ( oem ), was not made for disk brakes like on some newer models today. i used a master cylinder from a trx420 on my trx350D when i did the front disk conversion, and it works great !.

i always re-use those washers, no need to replace. the manual will tell you to replace a lot of stuff ?, but this is honda's way of ripping us off. re-use them !.

i am not sure where that spring came from ?, but i can tell you right now, it does not go anywhere in the cover, or that side.

again, deff use a WDH !. i pulled my last tt with my trx450fm in the bed of my 1/2 ton, full tow package, that tt was 22ft, tandem axle, had no issues pulling it ?, but was a tad hard controlling it on the highway, couple white knuckle moments ?, but it road good. yes i had a pro reese 10k WDH too !..lol. that is why i decided to get this 18rd camper, its so much better behind my truck now.

please...PLEASE CONSIDER GETTING A WDH !. even though it might be a big truck ?, that all goes down hill fast when you start loading it up. yes, the new truck might be 3/4 ton ( not sure ? ), but even at a 3/4 truck, loads, roads, and weather will kill you !.

welcome. my first concern is..how did you come up with a 2005 trx400es ?, honda did not make this model in 2005 !. as for can you convert an es to manual shift ?..sure..but by the time you '' half way '' do it ?, you would have been better off buying a manual shift from the start.

first..look back through the months, threads here..and see how many threads were made from es owners ?, then locate the threads asking for help on manual shifts ?..then come back here..and tell me how many !..lol. second, the easy fix for handycap ridders is simple, put a stick shift on the foot shifter..seen it many times.

i will never, EVER..use battery tender jr again..cost me way to much in replacing batteries !. my battery minder has not let me down yet.

I thought this was a battery tender thread ?, now its turned into an oil thread ?..rofl. oil, as far as i know ?, does not have a shelf life. battery minder is what i use now, i tossed every battery tender jr in the trash after i found out they do nothing but take my money !. battery minder does more than keep the battery charged, it also works on the battery plates as its charging.

you must have 12 inch rims in order to run disk brakes on any atv, trx300's come from the factory with 11 inch rims, if you want to use disk brakes on your trx300 ?, you will need 12 inch rims.
