  4. it should keep the fuel tank from vapor locking, and not allowing the fuel tank to vent from the sounds of it.
  5. STOP !!!!.. you are mixing the valve settings up !!. NOTICE THE METRIC AND INCH SETTINGS IN THE BOOK ^^^. you said the valves are set around .14 - .15 ^^, but the book reads .14 - .15 in MM ?, yet your also saying book calls for .004 - .006 INCHES !!..LOL. both are the same !.
  6. goes in from bottom side, it's tapered, flat side will be on very bottom as you install it, you will notice one side is shaped like a funnel, it is on the top inside, main jet needle slides up and down from the slider inside. just remember the flat side is facing you as you drop it down inside from the bottom.
  7. carb is dirty. its not pulling fuel through the idle jet, i watched this video, and from seeing the main slide jet bounce up and down ?, tells me its not getting fuel through the idle jet. no good thing comes from anything '' all balls '' related !.
  8. no clue ?, but if the engine is that hot ?, he'll run the risk of cracking the engine cases.
  9. water will not turn the fan off, fan operates from the oil temp sensor in engine from oil temp. turn the atv off, no need in running battery down if fan is running when you stop.
  10. buy a shindy carb kit, take that all balls kit, toss it in the trash..best place for it !. welcome to the forum !. down load the service manual for your year/make/model for our site here, have a read on the air fuel mixture. you will need to set the air fuel mixture correcttley. YES THAT O-RING ON THE CHOKE VALVE IS IMPORTANT !.
  11. pull the transfer gear cover at front of engine, clean out all old grease, put some fresh grease back in, see if that helps ?. DO NOT PULL THE ELE MOTOR APART OR OUT !..LOL.
  12. like i said, you will need a valve compression tool to put the valves back in, hammer an socket can remove the valve springs, once these are off ?, you will see the valve guide stem seals on top of the valve guides, under the springs in this case. best to pull the valves, run them in a cordless drill, see if they got bent ?. also check the condition of the valve guides, sometimes when valves get smacked by the piston, the guides break. some degreaser and a small wire brush to clean the carbon out of the head.
  13. well, you tell you're '' friend ''..if he wants to pull this engine all apart, fork out the cash for new gaskets and seals ?, i'll be more than happy to do it !..rofl.
  14. welcome to the world of owning an atv !!!..lol. dumping money into a used ( and yes..unless it's new with a warranty ? ) even new machines have money dumped into them, it's all part of owning, repairing an atv freeobo86, no one gets a free ride, we all pay up, either at the front, during, and after the sale...lol. what little cash you have invested into this atv ?, is pocket change to some of us, get very used to it ?, or don't own an atv..that simple.
  15. if the engine needed work ?, then i would, but this engine runs very well, no need to open a can of worms, spec when this is a budget build, remember, cost is kept down. i wont split an engine unless it needs work.
  16. thanks, but i know where one is if i need it.
  17. hopefully its just oil that was still in the swing arm that did not get cleaned out ?. if its older than 10 yrs old ?, dealers ( most ) wont touch it with a ten foot pole.
  18. rofl. when i first seen this ?, i thought..oh crap..fish got into my carport !!..lol.
  19. no idea.?, not gonna pull the cover to find out, i do not have a gasket for there, so i will leave it alone.
  20. got the rear end done for now, rear wheels on so i can roll it. drained the engine oil, looks like muddy miss water ?..lol. oil filter is gross !. will pull the engine later today or tonight ?. here's some pic's to keep ya'll interest :-). p.s. all signs of water in engine !.
  21. moving this to the utility section OP, seeing how this has turned into a build.
  22. motor has to be split to replace the shaft if my memory is worth a crap these days ?..lol. although, something in my brain tells me the rear cover can be removed, and that shaft pulled out from the back ?..i do not recall this.
  23. that's why i asked him if he cleaned all the old oil all out of the swing arm ?, in case it was from the first oil seal leak.
