  1. Tires for the truck. The sipper may be down for the count, blowing oil out from somewhere. Yea I know what tire threads do to undies around here….. kinda why I wanna start one…..
  2. I’ll take a look at it, thank you! This has been on the back burner for a bit, had my gas sipper break down on me and the truck has to have tires to pass this year’s inspection so I’ve been dealing with those issues….. might start a tire thread for the truck lol. The good news is my effort seems to have paid off, the Bridgestones have been leak free as far as I can tell, and look great in my opinion.
  3. That does look great, but I don’t think it would work well with red lol. I’m gonna check that thread out for tips.
  4. Yes, I’m a glutton for punishment lol. I think silver paint will be the best, easiest way. I was just entertaining the idea of black wheels. I really wish I could sell the mud lites and put that money towards something else, but I can’t sell them in good faith knowing they don’t hold air well.
  5. I think I’m just gonna paint the rears silver. Not a fan of black wheels in general, and after looking at these in the daylight, I like the silver better.
  6. What’s the general opinion, black rims or silver? Started thinking about mounting the front tires on the black wheels and leaving at that.
  7. Yea, about the same odds for both hahaha.
  8. Thanks for the links, those are much better prices. I like the concept of the 424, but I can appreciate the simplicity of full time 4x4. I can also appreciate the clean looks of the 400AT route. Decisions decisions. Maybe one day I’ll actually ride the thing more than I work on it.
  9. Well, at $170 a new one is out of the question. Just kicking the idea around for now, but the 400AT mod looks appealing too.
  10. So if a guy wanted to remove the warn 424 kit and make it full time 4x4 again, is a stock front drive shaft the only part I would need? I’d have to source one as I didn’t get the original when I bought it. Thinking about removing it and putting new stickers on the sides to cover up the mounting holes.
  11. Haha no, mines a marked sheriff patrol car, and they like for me to behave myself. I’ll check that video out, I’ve heard a lot about plastic dip but I’ve never looked into it myself.
  12. How many cans did you use? I looked on amazon and that stuff goes for about $23 a can. Kinda steep, but if I only need a couple cans that might be the route I take.
  13. I used to be a hardcore Chevy guy. Now, I own a Toyota, a Nissan and two Hondas lol. There’s not a domestic to be seen in my yard. Well, there’s a dodge charger, but that belongs to the county. Definitely not my first choice. You sir, have lost your mind lol. Walked out to the shop today to grab something and kicked the tires as I walked by. All four seem to be holding air like they should, so I guess all the work has paid off.
  14. lol I’ll bet not. No it has the hydrostatic transmission. It’s nice to have, just have to make sure you use low range whenever you’re pulling anything. I just wish I had a trailer big enough to haul it, my trailer is a 6x12 single axle. I don’t feel like it’s quite big enough.
  15. That’s a B2400, 4x4. It belongs to my father in law, but he never uses it so I keep it at my house. Same for the grasshopper zero turn mower in front of it. He has two so I keep one at my house since my mower died. It’s way overkill, but it’ll last me forever. I used wd40, but maybe starting fluid is easier. I ended up using your method with the tires as well. I would drive up on the board to get the bead separated, then turn my truck wheel and drive over the tire. Stop and turn my wheel back and forth. But I was by myself, so it was get in, drive up, twist and turn, then back down, get out, readjust tire, get back in truck, and repeat. I mean, it only took two days lol.
  16. Success boys and girls. After parking my truck on this tire for another 24 hours, I was able to get the beads busted. These 589’s are no joke, and jeez they’re heavy. Got the second one broken down and spent some time on both rims with a drill and wire wheel. Managed to get my shirt wrapped up in the wire wheel. Sorry, no pictures of that, I was too busy cleaning my shorts out. Anyway, after the wire wheel I hit both beads with some emory cloth to smooth them out. I’m hoping my effort pays off and the beads don’t leak. The front tires seem to be holding air so far so we’ll see. In my opinion Bridgestone is an upper tier tire so I hope these will hold up well. My only real complaint with the mud lites is that I couldn’t get the dang things to hold air. While I had it up I took the axle housing off and greased the bearing in the tube. Now I just gotta get some plasti dip and get the rims all one color. But at least it’s down on all 4 paws. And on a positive note, I’m getting pretty dang handy with a set of tire irons lol.
  17. One down, one to go. The tire came off the rim pretty easily after I finally got the beads busted loose. Got the truck parked on the other one now, gonna give it a bit and go fight it some more. This one will need some attention from a wire wheel. I’m sure the other one will too, these tires have been mounted a long time.
  18. Yea I’ve lost my fair share of hair to starting fluid lol. Got the rear tires and wheels off while I was waiting on that bead to break. It’s been 2 hours and I’m still waiting. Gonna leave it there over night and see what happens.
  19. I did manage to get the other front tire seated. Had to take the valve core out and take the chuck off the air hose and just shove the fitting on the stem. It worked, so at least the front tires are ready to go. Definitely liking the look of the 25’s so far.
  20. Got the Toyota radiator swapped out today so I figured I’d mess with the tires some. The tire thread post above gave me some more tricks to try. Currently have my Titan with the 5.6 v8 parked on the tires with a 2x6. No luck yet.
  21. Got the 12” rims home yesterday. Got both front tires on the rim, one seated and bolted back on. The other front tire is fighting me on seating the bead. Started to break down the 589’s from the rear rims, and this is not going to be fun. They are 26x12’s so they are already tight against the beads, so I’m going to have to get creative to break them down. Got a radiator to swap out in my Toyota today so there probably won’t be any progress on the tires.
  22. I hadn’t even thought about plastidip. That looks like a dead match from what I can see.
  23. Thanks, I’ll try the grease trick. Two of my mud lites have tubes, and I’d like to avoid that with these tires. I don’t like tubes at all. I’m not looking forward to breaking them down either. That’s one reason I went ahead and started on these yesterday instead of breaking down all four 589’s. I figured out last time that the mud lite beads are really easy to break loose compared to the maxxis tires I messed with last time.
  24. Well, started breaking down tires again today. I said I wouldn’t do it again, but here I am. As I posted in the tire section, I found a set of 25x8x12 and 25x10x12 Bridgestone dirt hooks, in like new condition. Of course I now have stock rims, 12 in front and 11 in rear. I broke down the front 2 wheels and got one tire mounted, but of course I’m having trouble getting the bead to seat yet again. I got the other side broke down and pulled the tube out, but I have to put a new valve stem in before I can mount that tire. For the rear, I’ve got a set of 12” rims but they’re at my dad’s house in SC, so it’ll be Saturday before I can get them. I’ll have to break down the Titan 589’s on them and then mount the dirt hooks. The rims I’m getting are painted black, and I would like to paint them the factory silver to match the front wheels I have now. Does anyone know what color that is exactly? Silver? Grey? While I’ve got the rear wheels off, I’ll pull the axle apart and pack the bearings. Hopefully that’s the last time I’ll have to take the rear apart for a while.
  25. Thanks for putting my mind at ease. I made the trip and picked them up for $100. They look practically new to me, no torn beads like my current tires and I’ve only found one old plug in a front tire but I’m not too worried about that. I feel like I did alright on these. Pictures don’t really do them justice, they really show almost no visible wear.
