  1. I would lap the used flywheel to the tapered end of the crank.
  2. I can't comprehend what you are experiencing right now brother but I do know God's word says His grace is sufficient for you.
  3. I remember seeing this when it came out in theaters. It was thrilling.
  4. Sorry to get back so late......didn't see the notification. All of them were violent if I recall correctly. I actually like violent movies if it seems to make sense or add to the movie. Saving private Ryan, Green Mile are good examples. Silence of the lambs was very interesting but watching it a second or third time it seemed too much for me.
  5. Never changed one but I'm almost positive you split the case. It's a funny 45 degree sump.
  6. Wow! These are some violent scenes! Good though.
  7. It is a relatively light tapping sound. Probably the only proper repair is a new cam and rockers. It looks like it was run low on oil with uneven wear marks. Perhaps just run it until it gets bad? You could get the parts if available and just keep them for a future repair?
  8. I have a 4 or 5 inch crack in the plastic of my rear fender. Not on an edge.......just somewhere on the top flat portion. I've plastic welded decades ago but not with the methods I'm asking about today. I've seen two interesting methods and want your opinions. First is the method where you melt a small mesh stainless steel screen into the cracked area with about a half inch overlap and the second method is the hot staple method. I also wondered if i could do the hot staple method then put the stainless screen over that. Opinions? Go
  9. I've had two 420's without the 02 sensor and now have two 420's with the sensor. I have never had a problem of any kind. They ran fine last year when it was about 15 degrees here and I've had them at 13,000 elevation. The only difference is they are much more fuel efficient........so much in fact that they reduced the size of the fuel tank a few tenths of a gallon.
  10. I've had Honda TRX 420's for 12 years. They are incredibly powerful. I've loaded my 16 foot trailer behind it and pulled it on my land with a few thousand pounds of firewood with it. Traction is the limitation because it's 2 wheel drive.
  11. I know that beginning in 2014 Honda added an o2 sensor. Check it with a multi tester?
  12. I would replace the bearing asap. I like the engine braking of my TRX 420
  13. I wad thinking about that while typing. Couldn't remember when they went to auto comp release.
  14. That's too much compression if it has a compression release on the cam. The valve timing is not off for sure. I would check the spark plug cap by unscrewing it from the wire and holding it on the spark plug some way.
  15. Too Deep...I agree, I had a mud dobbers nest in an intake snorkel once. Andy, another thing to check is the spark plug cap. It has a resister built into it. Perhaps you could jump the bare coil wire straight to the spark plug. Can't remember ......are you sure the spark plug is good? I've seen them spark good outside on the head but not under compression.
  16. You may be misdiagnosing your problem. If the carb is running very rich ( for whatever reason) it will sputter badly which will cause a timing light or spark tester to flash much slower because the engine rpm's drop suddenly. In other words it may have a very rich condition. Without me actually being there we can only give educated guesses.
  17. The inner wire where it threads into the cap can degrade over time causing weak and erratic spark
  18. Have you trimmed some of the coil wire as I suggested?
  19. I had an odd problem years ago on my YZ 250. I cut off about a half inch off the coil wire and screwed the cap back on. Fixed it. It irritated me for months!!!
  20. As many of you already know, I've had a shop for over 38 years working on outdoor equipment. A new thing happened and just wanted to share it. A customer brought his riding mower in saying it just started burning oil. After inspecting it I suggested new rings but it didn't make since because it looked to be a low hour machine. After tearing it down I was concerned because the rings were like new. I decided to replace the rings anyway because I did express doubt about the rings to my customer and he understood he was taking a risk. I installed the oil rings first (expander with two scrapers). When the last scraper was installed the ring suddenly got tight and wouldn't expand. I took the rings off to see if I missed something........I did. There was a small ding on the piston skirt that was barely noticeable. It was squeezing the ring at that point so I scraped a small portion (like peeling a potato) off the corner of the ring gap and filed a small chamfer. The rings floated fine now. The engine runs without smoking now. I was concerned about giving my customer bad news but now I'm looking forward to talking to him. Anyone else out there have an odd problem like this before?
  21. We remember you! Thanks for your advice.
  22. Do you have any suggested camping areas that are central to the trails?
