  1. I have a 1988 that I bought new. The CDI box went out on it in 1991 and the Honda dealer put a new one on it. I have had no more trouble with a CDI since it was installed in 1991.
  2. OK guys, I'll save up my money and buy one from Honda. Thanks
  3. Thanks Jeep, since '96 was a bad year will any other year CDI work on the '96 ?
  4. Hey guys, I've been away for a while but I have a new problem and I knew where to come to get the answers. I've got a new to me 1996 fourtrax 300 and when I go to start it with the starter it will not hit at all until I release the start button and it starts instantly. Why will it not star while I'm pushing the start button? This is very annoying when trying to start it in cold weather and having to use the choke, I don't know when it's ready to start or not so I'm having to try it numerous times to see if it is choked enough and ready to start up.
  5. Retro and Melatv are super guys, I know I ran them thru the mill. Looking back on that experience I feel sure my harness was bad. I'll never know . The friend that owns the one we were working on is still riding it with the manual shifter I built for it . Good luck on fixing yours.
  6. I welded one back in and dumped the rest, welded the end back on. It's not loud to me. Thanks to all.
  7. Here is what I found when I cut the end off of the muffler. I'll never get all that crap welded back in place. I wonder how loud it will be if I just dumped it out clean and welded the end back on?
  8. Thanks THH, I may have to go with it, at least I know where to start. Thanks all for the input. It may be a few weeks before I start this project but I will let you know how it went.
  9. Thanks guys, my problem is knowing where to cut it to get to the baffle. I can TIG weld the baffle back if I can get to it and then TIG weld the cut back up. I'll look for the other post.
  10. Hey Guys, I've got a Honda 2003 Foreman 450 ES that has the muffler baffle that rattles sometimes and sometimes it don't. Is there anything I can do to stop the rattle or just live with it. I know there is a lot of experience out there so maybe someone has a trick that has worked for them.
  11. I let it go, it was cheap and in pretty good shape, thanks guys.
  12. Thanks again jeep, I’ll check retro out.
  13. Thanks jeep, I'll do some research from what you told me. shadetree, talk to me, is this model just got problems or just the shifting a problem, you know something to say far far away.
  14. Guys, I have the opportunity to buy a 2013 Foreman 500 ES, it's in pretty good shape, but the ES has problems, and I don't know enough about them to know what I might be getting in to. With the engine running the N blinks 2 long blinks followed by 2 short blinks. Does anyone know what this means? I know there is a list of all the codes, but I don't know where to find it. Thanks for any help.
  15. A bad battery, man , had me all tore up , thanks, I just keep on learning from you guys, quite a relief.
  16. The previous numbers are bogus. I had forgotten to plug the reg/rec back up so numbers changed thank GOD, With key on reading 12.9v, with motor idling 13.4v and motor revved up 14.4v.
  17. OK, 12.9v with key on, 12.7 with motor idling and 12.7 with motor revved up.
  18. I'll do it, thanks. First, I've got a plumbing job here at home and a great grandson's birthday to take care of.
  19. I'll pick up a battery and see if anything changes, fingers crossed. Thanks
  20. Update key off reading 12.1v, key on 11.3v, using better digital meter.
  21. The battery is not the best, reading 11.7v this morning.
  22. I pulled the reg/rec off the 450 and tried it on the 350 and sadly I got the same results. I didn't check the volts saw enough when the lights were doing the same thing.
