ES System will NOT change up or down

Recommended Posts

Hi to AKATV.

I have a 2011 Foreman 4X4 ES (USA model) that was imported into Australia.

Intermittently the gears will NOT shift up or down.

At times the gears work fine and then suddenly and depending on the gear selected at the time, will not shift.

The (stuck) gear will rapidly blink three times.

Using the change gear tool does assist towards placing the bike into an appropriate gear to limp home.

i.e. I can manually change up and down gears through using the change gear tool.

All advice is greatly appreciated.

pull the transfer gear cover at front of engine, clean out all old grease, put some fresh grease back in, see if that helps ?. DO NOT PULL THE ELE MOTOR APART OR OUT !..LOL.

Thanks Prov.

I've reposted under the "Electronics" section.

Shadetree, thanks for your advice.  Unfortunately fresh grease has not rectified the issue.

Back to the drawing board for me

First has to have a good battery. My 02 Rancher doesn’t like batteries over 3 years old.

Secondly perform a clutch adjustment.

Third thing , disconnect every electrical plug , clean them out , make sure there is no corrosion  and apply dielectric grease to the terminals
