Got The Covid

Recommended Posts

What was originally thought to be a sinus infection with added features turned out to be the tsunami of doom, Covid.  I rarely get sick, but this thing kicked my butt.  I received about four different "Watch this video and it shows how to treat it!" messages and they are all just as shaky as what the govt is telling us all to do.  The difference is they happened to land in a "source" of information they have bought into in versus the government as a "source".  All have their experts and it sounds good if you buy into it, but generally it's their bias which leads their "faith" in it.

Since I feel safe to be in public, I went to do a workout yesterday.  Since my lung capacity is just a fraction of what it was previously, the workout was painful.  I'm sure that will improve over time but my sparring will be tough.  At the workout, one of the stupider people in the class said "It's just a cold, people ..." and I said "What?" (I had heard him and knew where this was going).  He said "It's just a cold, stop being scared".  So I let him know what this "cold" did to me, and the three people I know that it killed.  I then told him to get the ! away from me, which he smartly decided to do.

Whatever the roots of this thing is, calling it "just a cold" is absolute idiocy.  I've never had this type of thing happen to me, let alone a cold.

How long have you had it?

The really weird thing about Covid and the vaccines is the way it affects so many different people in so many different ways.

I know people that you would expect to drop dead any day due to their multiple multiple comorbidities who strolled through Covid like it was nothing, and then there are healthy people that it beats down.

I know you are in better shape than I am, and I’m on day three and today I feel fine. Just took the kid for a walk to get some sun and fresh air.  Day one and two I felt like I had a horrible hangover from cheap liquor. Headache was the worst. Wife has same symptoms as I do.

Of course, from what I’ve seen, sounds like you likely have Delta while I likely have omicron.

I’m taking ivermectin, D3, C, zinc, melatonin, querceten, aspirin, and rotating acetaminophen / ibuprofen for the headaches.

I think I've had it for about 11 days.  I think.  And you are right, like many other things it hits people differently.  My wife had it and things weren't as bad for her, as she likes to remind me here and there.  Two of my friends were normal people walking around and died, and the other was just a year out of cancer so many things could have taken her out.

I've never had a hangover (though I've deserved many) but I was asked twice if I had a hangover as it reminded people of that.

I'm taking nothing for it.  I SHOULD have, but I didn't.  I'm an idiot like that.

Well as much as I would like to say that it’s a big nothingburger based on what I’ve had this far, I have seen a lot of people who have mild symptoms at first and then around a week to nine days they take a turn for the worse.  I’m going to keep my mouth shut on the seriousness until I know it is 100% behind me.

I don’t know that the ivermectin will do any good, but I know that it won’t hurt me so I’m taking it. The vitamins are good for my immune system so they can only help as well.

I hope you feel better man.

I hope all resolves itself 100% with you as well.

All seems to be on the mend with myself and daughter (who also had it) and unless it suddenly goes the other way, it's just a matter of time as things get better daily.

Update: Lungs still working their way back to full capacity, and my energy reserves are not at 100%  I feel normal, for the most part, but after a workout I'm very tired.  If I push my lungs beyond a moderate level, compared to pre-Covid, it gets tough quickly.  This will improve daily, I'm sure, and it seems to be doing just that.  Last night was my first sparring since catching the tsunami of Doom.  First hour was drills, second hour was group sparring.  We are still 9 weeks away from the March 19th fight.  Each person is expected to come into camp "in shape".  In the first few weeks during sparring a person is in the ring and three others are in a corner.  A time is picked for what we are trying to accomplish and we go.  Last night was 1 minute.  You spar 1 minute at a certain intensity and when the timer rings the next person jumps in, then the next.  For me I just went the first minute and jumped out.  I did a few cycles of that then watched for the remaining time.  At the end of my 1 minute cycles I was as tired as I'd be in 2-3 minutes.  When a newer or less-skilled person was in there I was happy as I got to relax and let them work.  When one of the higher-level fighters was in the ring, the minute seemed like a long time!

Though it won't speed up the healing, I'm going to focus on lung-capacity (conditioning) Sun-Wed of this week to try and compensate a bit.  Thursday off and Friday is Fight Camp again.

I hear what you are saying.  You should come out and say what you mean, instead of dancing around.

We are safe at work from getting the jab for now. I have seen more people that have been vaccinated get Covid than people that haven't got the jab lately.

We had a perfect 6-0 score at our house for Covid this week. Assume this omicron variant roared through. All but our new littles are vaccinated so it wasn't bad. Wife and daughter had it the worst. Mine was stuffed up head. Daughter lost her appetite and had a cough. Wife had cough, plugged head, fatigue, etc. But it seems to have moved on now. 3 of us were mostly symptomless. 5 yr old didn't show any signs. 14 mo old had a fever and was generally 'teething' in symptoms.

Hope you keep improving WM.

Other than fatigue and a mild cough I’ve been fine for a couple of days.  Wife had some fever last night but none today.

Toddler is still 90 to nothing and driving me nuts lol.

How are you feeling WM?

Fatigue and reduced lung capacity when exerting myself are the biggest lingering effects.  I'm sure that will go away a bit each day.

Glad to hear you're doing better.  I guess it's just going to take time.

My son and his family had it last summer.  It hit my daughter-in-law the hardest.  She and my granddaughter tested positive but even though my son didn't get tested he knew he had it.  He still hasn't regained all of his taste and smell back.  I'm sure the other two kids had it even though they didn't test.  They also didn't show any symptoms.
