2000 Suzuki King Quad 300 4x4 one-way gear

Well obviously to start off, yes I've tried the actual suzuki forum site but they're not even replying to the 2 threads I made for this.
But I'm having a problem with the flywheel and one-way gear, when I took the side cover to get to the flywheel and stuff, the one-way gear was seized to the flywheel and didn't move, I had to use brunt force (with a rubber mallet) to get it off then it worked again. Then after I finished rebuilding the engine, and I went to go start it and it started to turn but the battery died so I went to go pull start it... and then when I pulled the cord, it was turning the starter. I took it all apart again and boom, the one-way gear is seized to the flywheel again! I honestly have no clue what's happening right now and it's so annoying and frustrating. I know the one-way bearing is still good because after I get it un-seized, it works perfectly fine, I even took it apart to see if anything was wrong and it was perfect. I even put a screw in the bearing with the one-way gear attached, and I hit it with A LOT of force multiple times and it didn't lock up.
I just don't know what to do, please help and if you're able to help then thank you so much

I have no idea.  My father in law has two Arctic Cat 300's (rebadged King Quads) from around 2000.  I had to pull the engine cover off to replace the starter reduction gears on one of them, and it was a nightmare.  That's the only engine work I've ever done on one.

 

Even though it is unseized after messing with it, if it seizes up again then something is off with that one way bearing (at least in my way of thinking).  I can't think of any other component that would cause your problem, but I need to look at the KQ schematics again because I'm applying to logic to the way Honda motors are set up, and the KQ is likely to be significantly different.

Alright, I guess I'll order a new bearing for it. Just the reason I'm so confused was because before I took it all apart, the one-way gear was working perfectly fine, I've never had any issues with the starter or anything, but as soon as I take the flywheel off, all of this stuff happened. 
Also let me tell you, if you're able to find a King Quad 300 4x4, get one, it's actually really worth it. This thing has been through ! and back constantly and it kept running like a champ, the only reason I had to do a rebuild on it was because it started to leak oil and burn oil. Which whoever worked on it last never put a timing cover gasket back on it so oil was just leaking onto the header and the head bolts were seriously, maybe tightened down to like 3fpt and somehow it still ran like that. This quad may not be fast, but it can sure as ! get you out of any sticky situations thanks to that front diff lock.

did you take the rollers out of the cage , i think they need to be originated in the correct direction 

 

 

I have a Arctic Cat 400 in my yard for sale , I do believe it is very similar , if not the same ATV as a Suzuki ,  I do know it has a Suzuki engine  , this one runs , has brake , 4x4 locking front diff , $1,500 , S.E. La. pick up , only thing wrong with it is the seat cover

Yes, I took bearing out of the flywheel and it seemed perfectly fine. Also it can only go in a certain way so yes, it is in the correct way, thank you for checking

I know you say it can only go into the flywheel  one certain way , but can maybe  the rollers come out of the cage  and be flipped  around  ???

Well my wife's brother took them, so I'm sure they're destined to be gone.  He always gets stuff from my father in law and then not too long in the future we find that he sold whatever it was.

 

Definitely way ahead of their time.  IRS, disc brakes all around, Hi/Low/Super low, selectable 4wd with a diff lock.  They were some super highly optioned machines 20 years ago.

 

I didn't like the downwards tilt of the carb into the intake.  One of the FIL's had a leaky float and the engine filled up with gas several times.

 

Parts are $$$ for them compared to Hondas.

 

But I thought one with some 26" Mudbugs would have been a fun little mud toy to have around.

I've never really had a problem with the carb so far, but yeah the parts are pretty pricey and the back wheels are impossible to find which sucks because I need a new one. The have a 5/160 wheel which is just so rare, I was thinking about buying a set of quadrunner 250 rear hubs because it's a lot easier to find wheels for them and I'm pretty sure they'll work but I don't know yet. And that'd be fun to just a extremely reliable mud toy that has a surprising amount of power, I think a lot of people would be surprised seeing a little 300 doing so much.

Yea the 300 kq's have 24" fronts and 25" rears.

 

I'm still running the original tires on mine with tire chains to plow snow

Correct, I believe the fronts are a lot easier to find (I haven't searched) but they don't make the rears anymore

That's a weird set up ,  5 lugs x 160 on the rear and 4 lugs x 140 on the front ----

 

 

What you  can do is have a set of adaptor spacers made , I got the guys  info , he'll charge you about  $100 for a set of 2 ( use to be ) , and then you can use the 4/110 common rims back and front  ----

It's a very weird setup indeed, I have no clue why they'd make it like that. I might do the spacers or if I can find some wheels on ebay then I'll probably just get the wheels because I only need one.

I just looked at  this atv rim wheel chart I got , thought maybe there was another model that uses that same pattern and there is no other atv of any brand on my list that uses that same rim pattern

Looks like front and rear wheels have the same part number and the front and rear hubs do as well.

I think it'd be best if I did the 250 quadrunner because the king quad I have has drum brakes and so does the quadrunner so it'd be easier to switch those things out

No no no.  You're doing this the cheap easy way instead of over-complicating it and making it budget bustingly expensive.

 

You swap the disc brakes AND wheels from an AC 300.  LOL 

 

Nevermind that you'll spend 1/2 what the machine is worth doing it.

Yeah, I just haven't gotten around to it because well it's really cold outside and if I can't get the king quad to start then it's basically pointless

I could just throw everything back together and pull start it, but it's pretty hard to start with just pull starting it, especially in the cold
