Operation 424 rebuild..

Recommended Posts

Have 4 cables installed. Had an issue with one where it was kinked crushing inner cable sleeve. Ended in breaking but saved it. Added a hose & will add clamps. Not super happy with the way ends came out. I had too much wind & am going to fix them… but four more 424s about to come alive!!!

Another 424 ready for action!!! New cable, bearings, seals & slide springs!!!!

Lesson learned! No Amazon bearings! I thought I’d try them for the price. COMPLETE GARBAGE!! Shafts had play like they were beat out! So I had to eat the cost, go get 2 more seals & good bearings! I knew better, but thought I’d try!

I had a new 2nd/3rd gen I sold a couple of weeks ago for $800.  Buyer was willing to pay $900, but I'd had it listed at $800 so I honored the ad (he offered extra for me to ship it).

Sold it pretty quickly.  I think the guy that mods those to fit a 1st gen charges a couple of hundred bucks minimum to do it, so this really isn't a bad deal if you really want one.
