shwagy357 4 Posted June 24, 2020 I got my cylinder bored .25 over, and have a new shindy piston and rings I need some help identifying which ring is the top ring. Is the black ring with the chamfer for the top ring?
Fishfiles 19,750 Posted June 24, 2020 You need a manual ? from memory the top ring has a beveled edge on the inside top of the ring with the bevel facing up , the second ring is beveled on the bottom outside of the ring
shwagy357 4 Posted June 24, 2020 The manual says the narrower ring is the top. The shindy instructions say the lighter colored ring is the top. Seems like the black ring has the narrowest width and thats what is confusing.
Misterclean 406 Posted June 24, 2020 The chrome ring always goes on the top. All bevels and marks go up too.
AKATV 746 Posted June 25, 2020 both should have 'T" marks facing up smaller ring with outer silver ring goes on top The larger ring is 2nd ring I think Shindy means that the" lighter color ring" being the silver outer ring, not the color of the ring itself Things get lost in translation sometimes
shadetree 5,543 Posted June 25, 2020 beveled shinny edge top ring, dark wider ring is second ring. top ring with shinny bevel faces up !. stack ring end gap AWAY from next ring !. do not line end gaps up with wrist pin end area !. that letter T tells you they face up.
