Going to be hot again today! Smoke so thick from fires to the west of us the sun disappeared at 7:00 last night,  didn't even see it set, was a bright red ball  then just vanished, very strange.  Going to be tough working outside this week!😕

I guess we all have our worries,  and you are right fire takes everything. Our friends are a testament to that. The pics I saw of their property was sickening. They had a beautiful spot on the mountain with a spectacular view. Only thing left was foundation and garage pad. This was his text to me the day I contacted him.

"Thank you so much for your concern and prayers. We were down at Hebgen lake over the weekend and went up yesterday morning to be ready for the possibility of evacuation as things were only smoldering at that time. By the time we could visualize the Bridger‘s we realized the wind had whipped up the fire into a frenzy and we received the evacuation notice on my phone. We were barely able to get into our house and have 20 minutes to remove valuables. The flames were licking over the ridge right behind the house and we could feel the heat and hear the trees exploding as we left the house. It will be only by the miraculous hand of God if our house did not burn to the ground."

They have had a rough year, back in February his wife was diagnosed with Lung cancer, never smoked a day in her life. Her parents neither.

Fish will be praying for yours and everyone's safety through this storm, be safe!

Thanks for your prays FF, sending some your way ----

My sister in law was diagnosed with lung cancer last year in January  , she never smoked , she went to John Hopkins and they done the DNA testing and found she had Exon 20 lung cancer which is hereditary and not caused from environmental factors   , her mother also died of lung cancer

Heading out to fill propane tanks , gas cans  and get a couple of ice  , just in case

Other than forest fires, the flooding would scare the crap out of me! Sorry to hear that.😕

heres a pic from early in the year ... (note the buttercups) ... this was the drain a few minutes after the rain stopped .. this is a mild flow compaired to yesterday ... but i was so busy ... yesterday ... i couldn't make it down to the cave for fresh pics ... but i sure could hear it .. i have some videos ... i emailed out... I'll see if i can locate them ... today . in one i actually fail... .. but thankfully i landed on solid ground and not the rushing  waters ... most times this is a very small flowing stream..

had to jump on the board (sorry, don't do it much I know), but just watching the weather again.. was thinking about some of ya'll that continue to catch it from ol Mom Nature

I know we have a month yet ahead of us, but I've been very surprised that my lower South CArolina side of things has not had a worry yet this year.

Gotta say it's a huge relief to have sold the house down there a couple years back...to not have to worry about that when these monsters starting aiming for our coast.

My Mom rents a place down there, so she does have belongings, but she understands when the forecast says it's coming her way, that I'm going to be running down to pick her up and bring her inland...that said.. we've been surprised more than once to have a storm still at near cat 1 levels when it comes this far in...enough to still drop trees, cause flooding...so even though I'm no longer a coastal dweller, I do still keep the generators and other supplies at the ready.

ya'll stay safe and hope you get through this next one without any major problems.... Ed

It goes to show how unpredictable these storms can be , it veered east but then back to the west , now they are upgrading the prediction that the storm will be a Cat2 with 105 mph winds when  it comes ashore , the storm hunter plane has it at 92 mph right now and she is exploding and growing fast , what is really bad is it is expected to only move 30-40 miles in a 12 hour period , slow moving storm , suppose to start kicking up at 7-8 tonight

On an unusual and interesting note there are 5 named storms in the Atlantic right now  at the same time

We had a long heavy storm here Saturday afternoon.  Nothing like @_Wilson_™ or @Fishfiles are seeing though.

Glad the fires are somewhat under control out there @Freedomflyer.  Things are hazy here, supposedly  from all the fires out west.

live been noticing ... just a few times when the sun breaks in.... @Derf40 had mentioned the smoky condition out where he is ... just hope the firefighters get a handle on things ...lord knows those guys have to be over worked by now ...

Keep your head down @Fishfiles. I hope that you and your wife get through it without any serious property damage.

I hope that track wins so you'll be on the slower side of the eye.

On the map  we are right on top the l of New Orleans , as about as close as you can come ----  west side is always the better side to be on , lighter wind and rain ,  lesser chance of tornados and winds are pushing the water out , water is high here , at all the coastal fishing villages the water is over the roads already -----  lets say a pray for Biloxi , Gulfport and Bay St Louis

Slowindown is your daughter going to evacuate a?

I have a buddy in Gulfport.  Need to check on him.

I called my Redneck buddy this morning , he  lives in Bayou Caddy , which is next to Bay St Louis , all was good with him , he was actually working in Bay St Louis this morning at 8 o'clock , he lives two blocks from the sand beach of the coast , says he never seen too much , 8 inches of water on the road to the Silver Slipper Casino , not too much wind or rain

The most I seen was 20 mph wind and no rain to speak of ,  a  light on and off drizzling rain
