Yeah,  I don't have one of them, LOL I'm stuck with a soldering iron. Where'd you get the welder? is it pretty easy to use?

I tell you what, it sure isn't like it was last year.  We had so much snow and cold temps in 2019 I didn't think winter was ever going to end, we're supposed to have mid-40's by weeks end.  Certainly not normal, however our snow pack in the mountains is above normal, and we haven't had jack down here in the valley.  I've only used my plow twice and even then it didn't amount to hardly anything.  Here's some pics from last year, we had 32" in one day at one point, was glad I stayed ahead of it throughout the day.

TRX, Here's the photos of the plastic repair I did on my one Rancher, too cheap I guess to buy new foot well and rear fender.

One of my foot wells was pretty busted up, I drilled holes, ran zip ties then started melting it back together with the soldering iron, flipped it over and smoothed it out with the flat tip that comes with the gun. It wasn't perfect but looked better than the zip ties showing, and actually the zip ties kind of melted in with it.

I melted the crack around the hole on the rear fender from underneath and smoothed it with the soldering iron on the top, you can see the dark line where the crack was, I then put the graphic kit on it and never had a problem with the crack on the fender or the cracks in the foot well for the two years I rode it.

No, I haven't, There are dino bones out in the eastern part of the state infact some of the discoveries are here in Bozeman at the Museum of the Rockies at the university

Things aren't cheap up here. So it doesn't surprise me that it would be that lunch different down there.

 Been all over Colorado myself, amazing country. I did like Gunnison myself. Loved Durango, Silverton, Uray, all of them spectacular.  I hope to go back through there someday with my wife. Was in Ruidoso New Mexico one time, another pretty cool place, woke up to 24 degrees, dropped down to Alamogordo an hour later and it was high 80's.  A lot of beautiful country out there that's for sure.  I guess that's why I put up with the winters here, it cools down so nice in the summer.  Mid 20's here last night and slept with the windows open. Like sleeping cold LOL.

Honda is my wife's and has not been used that much. Almost new tires and runs very well. $1800 for Honda (Kawasaki is sold). This is 2 wheel drive. (This on is in southern Idaho 4 plus hours away.

 

Selling a 1989 Honda TRX 300. This is a clean older atv, that runs good and has decent tires. This atv is a 2x4, but still very capable off-road. It does not have a running odometer, so actual miles are unknown. (This one is in Northern Idaho 6 plus hours away)

Hey, we don't just have winter here ya know, LOL! These  taken in Glacier National Park. It's about a 5 1/2 hr. drive to the upper Northwest part of Montana. I'm sure Macarena Man has areas just as beautiful.  This is Lake McDonald in Glacier.       The waterfall in the 2nd pic is almost 500ft to put things into perspective.

Winter finally arrived to the valley. Now the temp is supposed to drop to low single digits tonight. 

LOL! retro, I know exactly what your talking about. Although yesterday wasn't quite like that I probably shouldn't have been out in it. Extremely low visibility once I got on the interstate,  semi's were

crawling, should of stated Blizzard like conditions. Our blizzards are pretty treacherous as well but probably pale in comparison with you having the lake effect weather. 

I like blizzards too we just have to eat them in the winter LOL.

Well woke up to a blizzard this morning had to head off to work drove in it for about 20 miles then it quit, roads sucked

Man, there are so many things you guys  have to deal with down there.😕. Those types of things just don't cross my mind.  I  guess we all have our worries in the areas we live in( at least where I kive) but it seems to me that it is always more life threatening on other areas of the country than it is here. We have cold weather and blizzards, bad roads, forest fires. Fires are probably the most concerning and scary for me but even then our city would not be in danger of burning up. There are areas or state that do flood , but even then it's not on my radar because we don't have a lot of flooding here. Once in a whle The rivers get high in new flood banks Folks that live by them Are in trouble. But what we call a river here is no more than a mere Creek to you folks.  I don't think I could handle the stress of having to worry about  Flooding every year, And then all the creepy crawlies it come out when that happens. Yuck .Snowing here today finally, glad to see some of the white stuff coming as we need the snowpack in the mountains. Winter weather watch over the next couple of days so hopefully will get dumped on. Don't mind the  Snow, makes my wife nervous when we have to travel though. A balmy 30ﾟ or so

 

 

 

Weather didnt amount to what they said as usual, called for 15" I think we got 6". 10" out at the job I'm working at, now they are issuing avalanche warnings due to unstable snow pack.

toodeep, Yeah, I even laugh at the fact we call them rivers,   What's cool is, I do live about 20 miles or so from the head waters of where the Missouri River starts.  Our Jefferson "River", Madison "River", and Gallatin "River" all come together just North of a little town called Three Forks, hence the name of the town. Is pretty cool, during the spring thaw there is a lot of water flowing down out of the mountains in these 3 "Large creeks" (LOL) and it actually has flooded a time or two at the convergence of these three "Rivers". But the fact that it starts here 25 miles away and flows through eastern Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Missouri then into the Mississippi is pretty amazing. The one River called the Gallatin River flows down out of the Gallatin Canyon, in the middle of the River is a huge rock called House Rock that sticks out of the water over 20' during regular summer flowing.  During the spring thaw water completely covers and flows over the top of the rock. Like I said these river "creek" beds are pretty deep and not a lot of flooding that goes on.  Pretty cool that the Canyon Highway follows the river all the way down the canyon and out into the Gallatin Valley so when the nut job kayaker's are riding the rapids you can pull over and watch them risk their lives. Boneheads!

Well, all I can say is you folks down south deal with some pretty scary stuff, I don't know how well I would handle having to worry about flood waters, hurricanes and all that comes with it.  I guess we have a few things here that could be worrisome for some but nothing here seems to be as concerning as what goes on down south along the Mississippi, in the open prairie states, and along the gulf and south eastern coast lines. Our Blizzards pale in comparison, IMO one of our biggest concerns is forest fires and I think one of the main problems is improper logging practices. With Montana being so rural we have a lot of western small towns that are surrounded by millions of National forest, and when its dry we get very concerned.  Our rivers would be considered mere creeks to the most of you, and most of the creek beds are deep enough they don't really over flow their banks, only after they come out of the mountains into the large mountain valleys and eastern prairies, and even then the flooding isn't as destructive as what we've witnessed from afar.  You folks are tougher than I would be dealing with the situations you do. Hat's off to you!

We"ve about 4" or so, still snowing👍, boy do we need the moisture. Glad I have inside work.

We took a drive yesterday to go look at another 2 up machine. Went to the city of Great falls about 180 miles north of us, had a horrendous cross/tail wind on the way up there. Knew what that meant for the trip back. Got to Great Falls and wind was blowing so hard it uprooted. blew some trees over onto power lines and knocked a bunch of lights out so getting to this guys house to look at the machine was a nightmare.  Looked at the machine and was disappointed,  it had been stored outside since new under a cover too small. They had two dogs who had been using the tires as a hydrant. Only had 532 miles on it but looked like it had been rode hard and put away wet so to speak. Swampy type grass hanging from the frame and wrapped around wheel hubs. Pulled the air filter it was filthy, another bad sign, to me anyway. Popped the plastic gauge cluster off to check the coolant reservoir,  couldn't see a drop of coolant in the reservoir. Checked the oil it looked clean, he said he had it changed last spring but hadn't ridden it all of last summer. Asked if the differentials had been changed he said no but they had been checked. Can Am recommends all fluids be changed in the first 10-20 hrs, then every 100 hrs after that, on our trails that would be about 150 to 200 miles for the first fluid change. He only changed the oil and that was at 150 hrs.  We decided to pass. All of that to say it was a windy miserable trip home with a cross headwind blowing my crew cab Duramax all over the road. When we got home we were looking at the news and they said that Great Falls head sustained winds of a 102 miles an hour. If we'd been on the coast somewhere that would have been a hurricane LOL!  By 9 o'clock last night there wasn't a stitch of wind  Outside, and we woke up To it snowing this morning with snow falling straight down. Finally, glad to see some moisture on the ground it is a little bit of wet snow so grateful for that as well  We need the moisture. Got the 4 Wheeler out and did a quick plow job of the driveway and up-and-down our street, Old guy on the corner  Was glad to see me as hes got a lot of sidewalk In front of his house and down the side plus he owns the next lot down so try to keep him cleaned up.
