  1. Those two stem trees are known as 'School Mar'm's' here.  Find bullets, fencing wire/staples. all manner of things.  Faller was felling an ancient Western Red Cedar up at Campbell River, BC. He 'rocked' his saw, sharpened it and was putting in the new undercut slightly above the original when he rocked his saw again.  He eventually dropped the old Cedar and the butt cracked and shattered as they often do with Red Cedar.  Imbedded in the tree was an ancient cannonball that had been fired from a sailing ship 160 years earlier.  It's in the museum now.

    Track chart

    image.png

The bear track is a composite Grizzly/Black front.

This is a Grizzly front track.

The toes are in a straighter line and touch.

Indents above the toes were made by the claw tips.

    Buick Roadmaster ????   maybe about 1955 ???

Ahhhh . . . a car from my era.  Four portholes (now just chrome) last of the vertical chrome grill pieces, and the radiused wheel wells (looked fast even when parked) . . . :classic_biggrin:

Four of us were at the hunting shack for 11 days. Put on about 250 miles. Ran through some pretty bad clay and places flooded by beaver. Had a great time. Today it was time for maintenance. Changed oil and filter, air filter, blew carbon out of exhaust and installed a new battery as the old one was 7 years old and didn't want to take a chance.

Me thinks you be moose hunters . . . ?

    Great Pics!G

Gun boots . . . . Kolpin shortened cap. Marine poly sealer, and added handle. We mount our Kolpins on the right side of the front rack pointing forward. Without the cap on, you can dismount while sliding the rifle out. It's quite fast.

  6. Mystery indeed . . .

Removed choke cable at the carb. Removed plunger, cleaned bore, plunger, spring . . . cable is free and lubed.

Assembled cable as before, but not attached to the carb.  Still very stiff, like the spring isn't seated, but it is.

Feels like the plunger spring is too long.

    Sorry to bother you guys  . . . . 😕

Maybe the fuel enrichment plunger's o-ring is worn out and the friction pressure on the plunger is what actually helps hold  cable and  then the lever in place

Thinking you guys are on the right track . . . . will pull it apart again and check the plunger/0-ring.

    Appreciate the help!

I just tried the choke lever on every Atv I got. Out of 9. The lever of 6 stayed where I put. Two are stuck.  Lol.   Only one was smooth and wouldn’t hold.

there is a steel clip that adjust the cable length.  Do you know about that.

Just put everything back together with the steel clip in the shortest cable position.  Still have to hold the choke lever for start-up. Head scratcher for sure.

  9. Removed the carb for cleaning, and disengaged the choke cable from the handlebar lever to let lube seep down the cable.

Put everything back together and now find that the choke is very hard to use.

It won't stay in the closed position and wants to 'spring back' to the open position.

The choke is smooth and free in the carb.

    It's something I've missed in re-assembly of the choke/cable . . .

    Any ideas welcome,

    Thanks

So is the tank of water for cooling used as wasted water cooling or circulated thru the brakes I’d guess the first

Hi Fish,  The water is gravity sprayed on the outside of the brake drums. These Hays/Pacific off road trucks often pack 100+ tons. Coming off the mountain in a cloud of steam and dust, they are a memorable sight to see.
