No neutral light no electric start

Recommended Posts

I have a 1998 honda foreman 450. Out of the blue my green neutral light quit coming on and electric start wont work. Runs fine pull starting. My fuse block has 3 10 amp fuses in a row and 3 15 amp in a row. The middle 15 amp fuse keeps blowing. My cover is missing and I cant find anything on line telling me what that fuse is for. I tried bypassing the neutral safety switch but it does not appear that is the issue. I read something about turning the kill switch off and then turning the key on but it still blows the fuse. Im at my wits end with this. Does anyone have any wisdom to share on this. I sure would like to know what that middle 15 amp fuse controls

Welcome aboard.

Looks like the middle 15A fuse is the lights.

I'd unplug the tail light and then the headlights from the main harness, and see if it keeps popping.   Check the wiring to see if you have a rubbed/chaffed wire that's grounding out on the frame.

The electric start has to have the green neutral light to function, so until you get a green neutral light on the dash, your electric start won't work.  While I don't think your fuse issue is related, I'd try to fix it first just to make sure.

Once you get your light fuse not blowing, let us know if that fixes your electric start issue.
