Correct.  I put 12's on all my machines.   Much easier to find tire options for a 12" wheel, and again, you need 12's to clear disc brakes on the front.

I wouldn't toss the 11's though.  You might find some cheap/free tires for an 11" wheel at some point and need the wheels, and they won't bring anything trying to sell them.

Yea, that’s true. They won’t cost me anything stacked up in the corner of the shop I guess.

12's are mostly common. i run 24x8x12 , and 24x10x12 on both of my atvs, one is a 1989 trx350D foreman, it calls for 24x9x11 all the way around ?, BUT !, i made and installed front disk brakes on it, in order to run disk brakes , you must have 12 inch rims in order for the calipers to clear the rims. soooo..now when i need tires on my '03 trx450fm ?, i can run the rims and tires off my '89 trx350D !. both have foreman rims and tires on them.

So what you’re saying is, with 12” rims and the 24x10-12 size being common, there’s no real reason to hang on to the 11” rims?

  3. Out of curiosity, what is a common 12” rear tire size? Thinking about selling the mud lites and 11” rear rims, but looking to the future for replacement tires, what would be a common tire size? 24x10-12 to match the 24x8-12 fronts? I’ll probably just stay with 25’s from now on, but just curious.

Earl from ? Ya think maybe a rear main or front ? ...if its the 350... i dont think ive ever seen one that doesnt weep around the valve covers... least back in the day.....and  I like the way you think.... You'd make a good professional PITA... maybe shade is right ? Maybe we be distant kin...i know one thing... two of us wont be good for this place..... when done we can leave a marker where this place once was....lol!

It’s a 2002 Toyota RAV4, 4 cylinder auto. I put a new radiator in it and then immediately after it started blowing motor oil from where the transmission and motor bolt together. It’s front wheel drive, so it’s mounted sideways. I can see where oil is pooled up but not sure where it’s coming from. Maybe a sensor is leaking.

Yer welcome....Tires for the gas sipper ? << (writing that one down) ... need i remind you tire threads here.. can cause some people here to come completely un hinged... lol....ill sure be tuned in for that thread..... 10-4 on the leak free (thumbs up)

Tires for the truck. The sipper may be down for the count, blowing oil out from somewhere. Yea I know what tire threads do to undies around here….. kinda why I wanna start one…..

Got another PLASTI_DIP video... and it's on chroming this go round and i think they have nailed it! The test samples Look great!... i'll send ya via PM.....

I’ll take a look at it, thank you! This has been on the back burner for a bit, had my gas sipper break down on me and the truck has to have tires to pass this year’s inspection so I’ve been dealing with those issues….. might start a tire thread for the truck lol.

The good news is my effort seems to have paid off, the Bridgestones have been leak free as far as I can tell, and look great in my opinion.

  7. Yes, I’m a glutton for punishment lol. I think silver paint will be the best, easiest way. I was just entertaining the idea of black wheels.

I really wish I could sell the mud lites and put that money towards something else, but I can’t sell them in good faith knowing they don’t hold air well.

  8. Thanks for the links, those are much better prices. I like the concept of the 424, but I can appreciate the simplicity of full time 4x4. I can also appreciate the clean looks of the 400AT route. Decisions decisions. Maybe one day I’ll actually ride the thing more than I work on it.

  9. So if a guy wanted to remove the warn 424 kit and make it full time 4x4 again, is a stock front drive shaft the only part I would need? I’d have to source one as I didn’t get the original when I bought it. Thinking about removing it and putting new stickers on the sides to cover up the mounting holes.

Import magisium i think ? Is the right color ... @toodeep ? Do you know how many years that paint color was used ? And on what models ? All i was told was the 300 wheels and engine is where that color was used... i never researched it, but from my own testing... plasti-dip bright aluminum is about as close as one can get.... i looked high and low for the longest time for import magnesium paint.. even hit a few custom paint dealers... no one could help me out.. and the few times i was able to locate it online... the cost was astronomical ... trick to dipping with PD.... many many many thin coats... and the longer it stays the tougher it gets .... this is the end result... i think a purdy good match to the color of the crank case (stock color)... i only clean these with viniger... nothing else.. and they do shed muck and slop better then stock paint... the catch is do not use anything with petroleum products on plast-dip for any reason but one... and thats to deslove the little patches left over (after peeling if any) before completely re shooting.... dw-40 is an instant PD desolver.

How many cans did you use? I looked on amazon and that stuff goes for about $23 a can. Kinda steep, but if I only need a couple cans that might be the route I take.

mines hydro as well, thats the part i had to fix !..and it was rough pulling it part by myself..but i did it.  and yes..i am by myself as well when busting tire beads down. i do not use a board, i simply drive straight at the tire, then get my truck tire next to the rim center, then turn my truck tire around the center rim bead, pops the bead every time. maybe you need a chevy tire ?..lol.

I used to be a hardcore Chevy guy. Now, I own a Toyota, a Nissan and two Hondas lol. There’s not a domestic to be seen in my yard. Well, there’s a dodge charger, but that belongs to the county. Definitely not my first choice.

Honda made a hydrostatic 4wheeler.  You should get one!

You sir, have lost your mind lol.

Walked out to the shop today to grab something and kicked the tires as I walked by. All four seem to be holding air like they should, so I guess all the work has paid off.

  12. lol I’ll bet not. No it has the hydrostatic transmission. It’s nice to have, just have to make sure you use low range whenever you’re pulling anything. I just wish I had a trailer big enough to haul it, my trailer is a 6x12 single axle. I don’t feel like it’s quite big enough.

  13. That’s a B2400, 4x4. It belongs to my father in law, but he never uses it so I keep it at my house. Same for the grasshopper zero turn mower in front of it. He has two so I keep one at my house since my mower died. It’s way overkill, but it’ll last me forever.

I used wd40, but maybe starting fluid is easier. I ended up using your method with the tires as well. I would drive up on the board to get the bead separated, then turn my truck wheel and drive over the tire. Stop and turn my wheel back and forth. But I was by myself, so it was get in, drive up, twist and turn, then back down, get out, readjust tire, get back in truck, and repeat. I mean, it only took two days lol.

  14. Success boys and girls. After parking my truck on this tire for another 24 hours, I was able to get the beads busted. These 589’s are no joke, and jeez they’re heavy. Got the second one broken down and spent some

time on both rims with a drill and wire wheel. Managed to get my shirt wrapped up in the wire wheel. Sorry, no pictures of that, I was too busy cleaning my shorts out. Anyway, after the wire wheel I hit both beads with some emory cloth to smooth them out. I’m hoping my effort pays off and the beads don’t leak. The front tires seem to be holding air so far so we’ll see. In my opinion Bridgestone is an upper tier tire so I hope these will hold up well. My only real complaint with the mud lites is that I couldn’t get the dang things to hold air. While I had it up I took the axle housing off and greased the bearing in the tube. Now I just gotta get some plasti dip and get the rims all one color. But at least it’s down on all 4 paws. And on a positive note, I’m getting pretty dang handy with a set of tire irons lol.

  15. One down, one to go. The tire came off the rim pretty easily after I finally got the beads busted loose. Got the truck parked on the other one now, gonna give it a bit and go fight it some more. This one will need some attention from a wire wheel. I’m sure the other one will too, these tires have been mounted a long time.

  16. I did manage to get the other front tire seated. Had to take the valve core out and take the chuck off the air hose and just shove the fitting on the stem. It worked, so at least the front tires are ready to go. Definitely liking the look of the 25’s so far.

  17. Got the 12” rims home yesterday. Got both front tires on the rim, one seated and bolted back on. The other front tire is fighting me on seating the bead. Started to break down the 589’s from the rear rims, and this is not going to be fun. They are 26x12’s so they are already tight against the beads, so I’m going to have to get creative to break them down. Got a radiator to swap out in my Toyota today so there probably won’t be any progress on the tires.
