  1. I've always gotten good, fast service from them. Ordered some parts from the over the weekend or end of last week? Can't remember. They showed up today. Every time I've price shopped a decent size order, it has always been cheaper to get the entire order from them even though a few items may be cheaper elsewhere. So I quit looking. Thanks for the heads up though, I'll look around before I place another order.

Retro , read the nearest power pole to you is 1.25 miles away , did you ever get a price on them running power to you ? It must be an astronomical amount of money to do that ...

I don't have cable TV to my house , it is a tad bit over 400 ft to the road that has cable , they told me it would be  $8,000 to run it 400 ft to  my house , because they say it needs to be  "key" wire for any distance over 300 ft , told me to split it with my neighbors , but there is only two of us on this entire street

what company was that? I built a house 12 years ago that sits a little over 400 ft from the cable run. That was back when Comcast had a local service office where you could walk in and sit down with the boss, which I did. They told me the same thing; will require a hard line, will cost a bit, etc etc. But then after a few minutes the guy looks up at me and says, “I tell you what I’ll do. If you’ll sign up for TV & internet, I’ll run the line for free.” So that’s what we did. 12 years later, I still have the internet but not the TV.

my first thought is leaking gas cap ?, or seeing how you have not over hauled the carb ?, you might be smelling blow back from the air vents on the front fender ?.

Gas cap doesn't leak. But again, it's not a gasoline smell. More like raw exhaust. There aren't any signs of exhaust coming out of the vents up around the front fender, but still could be fumes coming from there I suppose.

Never seen mention of dumping the tank , cleaning the tank and the carb and  filling it with fresh fuel ---  6-8 years is a little while

I should have elaborated more about that. He quit using it except for occasionally, but didn't let it sit with fuel all of those years. I've had for the last 2 years pretty much, probably ran 8 or 10 tanks of fuel through it. There isn't anything wrong with the fuel and there aren't any fuel leaks anywhere. It's not a gasoline smell that gets on you, it's an exhaust smell.

  5. I took the crankcase breather hose loose from the engine and at the T under the seat, and blew out all 3 lines with compressed air. They were clear though. I didn't see the breather tank dohicky, so I'm guess the foreman doesn't have it.

The spark plug is definitely covered in dry black soot in short order. I changed it last year and it was no time time until it was covered in soot again. The carb has likely never been off and no telling how long it's been since the valves were adjusted. Dad parked this machine for the most part 6 or 8 years ago when he bought a new one. I brought it home last year and started fixing stuff on it. But then quit when I got busy with other things.

I took the cover off the exhaust last year and cleaned it per the manual, but I don't doubt there is some build up in causing some back pressure. I'm not sure how you'd check it though. I have an exhaust back pressure gauge but there isn't a test port on it. Suppose I could have my friend who owns a muffler shop weld one in. Probably easier to just replace the muffler though, can you still buy one that will work with it?

  6. This one has been doing this for a while so I don't suspect the gas.

What about the crankcase breather tanks on these? Do they have some mechanical internals that go bad, anyway to check them out for proper function? I see they are no longer available. Haha, what a surprise.

no gas leeking down on the engine case ?? ... plugged blowby tube ?? next thought would be the valves might be out of adjustment ... because the intake for those is right there close (right and left) upper front fender..

No gasoline leaks. Not sure about the blow-by tube, is that what's it called in the manual? I'll look into that, that very well could be the problem. Valves likely do need adjusting, but it doesn't rattle. Still going to do that soon though.

I've ordered a rebuild it for the carb also. But again, it's not really a gasoline/flooding smell. It's more of an raw exhaust vapor smell. It's almost as if the exhaust is blowing back on the the driver.

@FIshfiles Haha! Probably do! I just put around most of the time. It's so bad though that I have to take a shower after riding the thing to the mailbox and back (300 yard or so round trip). Should be walking no doubt.

  8. Quick question on the older TRX350Ds. Everytime I ride my '88 I smell like exhaust when I get off of it and I can't figure out why. It's worse if I'm just putting around on it but still does it even if I maintain a constant speed. I've smoked tested the exhaust but didn't find any leaks. Seems like even if it was leaking, the wind would prevent it from getting on you at speed, but it doesn't. Do you other guys that ride these older machines have any issues with this?

I do need rebuild the carb (yeah, I know, still haven't done that) and adjust the valves, but the smell isn't really flooded, gas heavy smell. It's more of a raw exhaust smell.

Harbor freight has a cheap one for $17. I really have nothing to lose in trying, I guess, and have plenty of junk fenders to use for welding rod.

I fixed the fenders on my 350D last year with that very welder, because I didn't want to get into sanding/painting the plastics. Ordered toolbox from the same model from PSN to use as a rod and just trimmed narrow pieces off of it. I used a wire mesh (I think it came with the welder kit) and the welder to embed the mesh into the plastic from the backside. Then I welded the seams on the exposed top side. It looks a heck of a lot better to me than it did before and it has held up fine thus far. In fact it may be stronger than was before with the wire mesh embedded in it. Now it's not perfect and you can definitely see the repairs, but it's functional, which is all I was after. I've got some pictures around here somewhere, I'll see if I can locate them.

Maybe he's not played against a defense good as LSU.

Dont think that’s it. His throws were off. Just not his night maybe, don’t know. Besides he dismantled Alabama last year and did wasn’t too shabby against Ohio St a couple weeks ago.  But that’s not to take anything away from LSU, they were clearly better.

  11. Wow I had a total failure on that prediction! Oh, it was an interesting game up until the part of the way through the 3rd quarter at least. It was obvious to anyone who was watching who had the better team for sure but dang Lawrence had the worst game passing the ball I've seen him play, which is not very many.

Seen some prices for tickets to the LSU/Clemson game , nose bleed section of the Super Dome is going for $1,600+ , premium seats have gone for and are available for $10,000 -15,000 , Wow

Some folks got more money than sensed I guess. Never had much of either myself. Haha. It would quiet an experience to be there though. I’ve watched the Saints play there a few times.

Started the New Year off good.Shot a 8pt at 7:20 this morning.

Good deal! Haven’t had much luck yet myself. Shot a doe for a friend the other day but that’s about it. I have video of a pretty good one a couple days ago though, so hopefully my luck is about to change. He was in front of the camera at 11:00am the other morning with his tongue hanging out, so I’m guessing the rut is heating up here.

  14. Glad you're making progress.

Many years ago we use to install Linux on headless servers (no monitor, keyboard, or mouse) using a serial terminal with the files hosted on a networked NTP server. Now that was fun. Also did the Linux From Scratch thing a few times. It was a lot of fun but that was back when I had more time than sense. Haha! Anyway, point is Linux is fun to play with for someone that likes to get their hands dirty, dig in and see what makes it tick. You have total control over the OS, which can be good & bad.

I need to install a modern distro just see how it compares to Windows these days.

The targeting call to me really changed the game , might have  deserved the 15 yard by today's standards for helmet to helmet , but I didn't feel it deserved player ejection for targeting  , the QB lower his head into the on coming defender , who to me was trying to hit him in the chest , till the QB dropped his head to take the impact he seen was  coming in his chest ----I think that if they are that concerned about a player taking a hit to the head while being tackled , then change to game to flag football

I don't agree with the rule but that was clearly targeting as the rule is written. The officials have to enforce the rules as written. The defender dropped his head and lead with the crown of his helmet. It doesn't have to be helmet to helmet for it to be targeting.

Here is an article from a couple years ago regarding it:

Clemson completed a pass and fumbled it , OSU ran it in for a touchdown , the receiver took 4 steps with the ball secured , it was no doubt  a catch and a fumble for  touchdown , just that play alone was the different in the win or lost ----   numerous pass interferences calls against OSU that were not much , and blatant interference by Clemson that wasn't called  -----  many holding calls and blocks in the back that were not accessed against Clemson , and just the opposite with OSU ----the commentators on every sports show I watched and listened to said the same thing ----- there were so many bad calls , even OSU's coach made reference to it without actually calling out the refs , cause  he is not suppose to do -----  I seen the entire game twice and it was a recorded version  ----- no doubt their was favoritism by the refs in that game for Clemson , maybe they bet on it

The officials REVERSED that call. They don't do that if there was any doubt. It was not a catch therefore no fumble. The rules expert on the coverage I was watching agreed with the officials that it was not a catch. One of the announcers did disagree with him though. Turn the slow motion off and watch it. I don't believe for a second that the crew working that game showed any favoritism to anyone. OSU didn't do enough to win, plain and simple. Was a great game to watch though.
