  1. Thanks for the links Wilson, will check them out when I have a chance. Concerning vibration, I screwed on some rubber tube under the base to dampen things out. Stops the annoying sound of the rounds rattling in the mag. That said, this is an un-scoped battle rifle. Used as a club as it's secondary function.

  2. Not finding anything on the market to suit my needs, I built this for my M1A some years back. Muzzle pointed down to the right because when riding on two way trails, it points away from traffic. I don't ride with a round chambered, but in case I forget, I put a metal plate there to deaden a bullet if accidentally discharged. I put foam in where it sits so the rifle sits snug and mounted rubber tube on the bottom of the base to prevent rattle and shock. I can mount the whole rig on either rack and in different positions.

I carry this in addition to my primary hunting .338 winmag rifle in a Kolpin carrier. I like I can get to it quick for sudden encounters by a grab and flip of a bungie. Bears for example. "Jippo rigged" as my logger father would say, but it suits my needs. I have a picture on my profile page with this config on my Ruby.

Downside, it gets mud on the muzzle, so I have a little polyester sleeve I put over it sometimes. Once I lost control of the old King Quad it is pictured on. It rolled over 7 times down a hill and broke the stock. Ran with a folding stock for awhile but didn't like.

no not really, (its good exercise)  I've been hand splitting since i was 15 years old (off and on) the worst to mual / wedge split, has to be elm, or bodark. (locust) ....i use this fiskars axe now (pic)  how do you split yours ?

I split with maul and wedges too. Try to get birch mostly and sprinkle in some spruce. The twisted birch and knotty spruce are tough to split.

I was probably 12 when I started splitting. My old man was a logger in western WA. He'd bring a dump truck load of doug fir logs home, dump them in the yard, then buck them into 2 to 3 foot rounds. Pointed to me and said there's your job. Lots of wedging back then.

Went for a spin on the bike today, beaver dams have about a foot of ice now so I can go and get the trees from the middle, dry as a bone bark fallen off, gives amazing heat, from standing to the stove in under an hour.....

I came across some beaver chew a few years back. Birch, was great stuff.

there you go! one good thing about a Polaris name. lol!

I own Blackberry phones. No problem leaving them lying around in public. In fact there is a funny video about a kid getting robbed, then the thief giving his Berry back.

Wife has a RZR 800. Bought it for $5000 and spent $7000 working on the HOS. Son has a 500 Sportsman. Among other things, he managed to bust the frame crossmember the front strut connects too. Amazingly thin metal there.

  6. I have a write up on the other forum about changing this. I got lucky and found someone who had a new tranny and never used it. Bought it for $1000. I was able to sell the old one for parts on ebay for $200. I never took it apart but suspect that main bearing was going out because I found plastic bits from the bearing race in the oil system.

I didn't see it mentioned, suggest you change the oil pump while you have everything tore apart. Open and clean the oil tank too.
