twofiveoh 0 Posted March 12 Hello everyone, Im hoping someone can help with a potential issue im having with my 2022 rubicon. I purchases it second hand, "as is". 2022 Rubicon 520 IRS EPS manual shift. 90 hours 1500 km. Ive tried searching this issue online and i am not finding whole lot of information on the matter. There is a ratcheting/mechanical noise when i use the rear brake. Doesnt do it with the front. The shop thought it was the brake pad and replaced it. Didnt fix the problem. It will do it in any gear and in neutral with the bike off. Seems to do it ones the brakes warm up. Ive attached a link to a video rolling down a hill in neutral with the bike off. Of the little info ive found on something like this, ive read that it could be normal and ive read to cut any losses and sell. Any help would be greatly appreciated. https://imgur.com/r4HGyQU
jeepwm69 7,611 Posted March 12 I wouldn’t say “cut your losses and sell”, but yes, it’s not uncommon on these IRS machines with the rear brake on the driveshaft. I have a thread around here somewhere where I went through the same concern with the wife’s IRS 420. It seems to be an irritating “normal” for Rincons and other IRS Hondas. Most of my machines don’t have functional rear brakes, because the rear drum brakes on these machines don’t hold up to the mud and water I ride in. The front brakes have more than enough stopping power. On the machines I have that still have working rear brakes, I use them for a parking brake.
