250 trx kingpin lock bolt

Recommended Posts

hi - I damaged the threads on the bolt and nut that lock the kingpin In on a 87 fourtrax250. Was able to bang the bolt out but it took a lot. Got a replacement and today tried to put the new bolt in and I stopped after hammering it in about half way. The replacement bolt I got from eBay is OEM and it seems to have a bit of. A wedge on one side of the bolt. I read the service manual a few times and not seeing any special instructions for replacing this bolt.

anyone familiar with these older arm/knuckles and been through this before? Maybe I just have to keep hammering but something tells me there is an alignment of the bolt that is needed.

thansk much!

the wedge section of that king pin bolt must line up with the sinch bolt on the side of the knuckle, this keeps the bolt in place when installed.
