  1. I might just attempt it. Would be a bunch of grinding and welding. But doesn't look like it would cause much of a problem. Except maybe on the steering end.
  2. ! yeah fish, I'd like to see it. Someone told me about it, but I was having doubts about it
  3. Ok, well.. I'm gonna start this thread since I've already begun tearing apart the parts bike(well it was already mostly tore apart). Plans are to clean (lots of walnut blasting) the case. Rebuilding internals. Possibly going to remove the rectangular frame rails from parts frame, and weld them directly on top of my frame for a slight body lift. (Haven't decided on that yet). Definitely doing an oil cooler relocate since I'm 90% in mud and water. Hooking a toggle to the engine fan so I can kill it while in water and mud. Aside from these things, I will remain mostly a stock bike. I'm DEFINITELY open to ideas and suggestions. Remember this is a mud bike.
  4. There we go! I knew it was something like that.. I try to do some research before spouting off 😁
  5. No worries fish.. I'm probably just gonna use them in the engine I rebuild and see if I cant blow this one up and play mad scientist fixing it lol
  6. I'd be using new gaskets.. both motors ran. But I did take one down after the idea this morning and that's a no go.. other motor I picked up temporarily from a friend cause he needed cash.. kinda like a pawn shop deal.. he wants it back eventually if he can, but I'm free do do whatever with it.. he said it needed to be timed before it would run
  7. If I'm not mistaken the 26t was for a 16% reduction and was in the '85 or older.. and would require the bore to be machined as the shaft diameter was smaller.. so 14.5% should be plenty fine to keep me from stripping 1st and much less work. Also I think with the 26t you have to destroy the stock primary to get the brass bushing out undamaged. So definitely 27t for me.
  8. I know I'm way late on this thread, I did however want to share some advice pertaining to blasting. (I'm by no means an expert). I would highly advise staying away from glass bead on internal parts. It leaves a whitish powdery grit on everything. I spent countless hours with an actual brass wire brush trying to clean it off. Reason for staying away from glass is if not thoroughly cleaned out, it can get into moving internals and lock them up. Ie. Intake manifolds, cant get it all out, doesn't wipe off. I personally like walnut shell at 90 psi. I'm going to attach pics of the intake manifold off my 85 dodge that I "refinished" (still finishing). Before and current pics (mind you I picked this truck up running for 500 bucks lol)
  9. I'm planning on rebuilding one and over boring. I'm talking straight swap as is just so I can still ride while I rebuild the other. In 3 hours I'm straight outta oil. Burned off currently
  10. Ok... so I know in my intro that my 450 smokes bad.. definitely needs rings at minimum. My wonderful devious mind just thought of a quick temp fix. I actually have 2 other 450 engines sitting here.. should I swap the jug and piston till I rebuild one of the motors to swap? Or am I tired and not thinking of everything?
  11. I was considering the 14.5% or an 18% but from what I read the 26t primary gear from an older 300 is hard to get, but the 27t I've seen all over Ebay. Reason I wasn't looking at the 34.5 yet is I do quite well as is and there are some places we ride that I gotta get thru fast (cops/trespassing). And the guys I ride with are far faster on stock bikes than I am currently.
  12. Yeah I don't know why I was map marked across the globe.. I got it fixed now
  13. Hey yall, just saying hi, I just recently acquired my 1st 4 wheeler on a deal that I couldn't pass up. I got it rideable and have took it mudding. It's a 2004 foreman 450fm. The gearshift arm was broken when I got it, and it smokes. Also needed tires. Fast forward 2 weeks after getting her home, gearshift is fixed and she's sitting on 29.5 outlaws. Next step is rings and a gear reduction. So since I'm new to all this, I joined to try to learn a bit. Guessing this would be a good time to mention that I'm a mechanic by trade on everything from helicopters to construction equipment (and certified!). So tools and general knowledge I have, just looking for insights on the more intricate details.
