  1. They r about 20 some miles from. Colfax on Natchitoches lake. Not sure i spelled it right. Hahhaaaa
  2. Snow acumulation and warm temps didnt help any. A beam in the roof that dad had welded together to span the 30’ run broke at the weld, was a dirty no penetration weld and the fishplate for seam wasnt big enough for sure, Hanger had been up for 2yrs and this first winter we put plane under it, ive always swept them off thro winter, when i called dad in Louisianna to tell him the news he was sure bumbed out about it im sure he was looking forward to flyin it this summer.
  3. Well got the buggy about done, just need to bleed brakes, paint firewall and make seat pads. Ended up startin on another project a MCI tour bus into a motorcoach/rv for me and the wife, but got pulled off it cause the roof gave out on the hanger and squashed 4 out of the 6 cars and 1 of the planes. Been sick about it for 2days, even cried a bit, well mayb more than a bit, just finished up rebuilding the 1947 pa12/160hp for my dad this last summer, he got about 5hrs flyin on it and here i get to go again.
  4. I have a screen shot of post 11 so i dont loose it, THANKS, where best place to pickup the redution parts needed? Well in doing the front firewall and running brakelines now, REALLY gettin close to a testdrive now, snowing this am so ill bet that will b done in the snow. Hahahaaaa Interesting info on the 400 to 500 upgrade, probably think about doing that if i ever need to tear into the topend, it doesnt smoke as of yet, starts right up and idles sweet, but the top end sounds loose, could just need a valve adjustment, But now the way i built it not much fun gettin to the frontside of motor so mayb do a reduction and a topend if needed at sametime. Will c when time comes.
  5. Shade i can agree with u there but as unbelivable as it may b, i can still pickup the front and rear of it so ill bet in the end its not alot more than stock, plan was light, cheap, 2 seats, and still go in bed of ur pickup, remember i cut out alot of stock stuff beside just adding stuff. Ill keep u posted on the weight of it. Fish i like that idea and may copy that also, but now u have another piece to rattle around makin noise, and mayb forget to bring with u, plenty of places to hook a strap to already and i have reciver mounts already on the front and back of buggy for a winch, or a drop hitch, Flat Black is great, helps hide some of the ugly, and easy to touchup. I usually always have a case of Flat, and Semi Gloss black and 7220 self-ecthing primer in the garage. Hahahaaaaaaa Jeep, im super interested in that!!!! Think u said was a 14% reduction? Id buy what i need to swap that if u know where and what all id need.
  6. Well that is done, next project On to the front firewall
  7. Thanks Shrade, im getting there just finished tack welding up the rear brakes, way easier than the front was, And not cause was just one not two. Well off to finish weldin it all up and paint and mount up for good.
  8. Few more pic, Windsheild, Ect, Im makin the rear hyd brake setup now out of some of the stock stuff, modified, and some parts from the original Yerf Dog 150 spider.
  9. Thanks Guys!!! Nice to let ur mind wonder and make stuff from what u have. Alot of the idea here was to use up my stock of parts i have around and spend little amount of $ i can. Hahahaaaa here a few more pic, ill have a few more tonight, and im getting closer to a test ride now with seats to sit on.
  10. Well got a few more things done, seat frames with adjusters, rear firewall except for the rubber cover on bottom and left side for access to adjusting the ! linkage, tail/brake lights few other odds and ends. Next will b to cut open the door area and make open/closing doors, im already tired of climbing over that top roll cage bar. Hahahaaaa
  11. Fish, ohhh man that Mack is sweet, ive only cn a few of those around, my son is building a Brockway he got from me, think its 1951 but they look way older. Shrade, in 46 they where all painted. In 47 they started with stainless, so i think ill keep it painted trim, and stick with good old black and white
  12. Its a 1946 Diamond T on a 85 CC chevy dually, with a 500ci caddy motor/tranny. I built the visor from scratch, and thats the stock cab hight of an earlie Diamond T
  13. Here a few pic of a couple rigs i own, have built, use to build least one every winter, when was more motivated i use to do two a winter.
  14. Well few more pic, cant find any seats i like that fit worth a !, so decided to make some, here is start of one, and the front disc brake setup i came up with, should work out ok, and only cost about $20 in hardware.
  15. Here a few pic of the linkage, revese lever is on shifter lever.
  16. Ill wire in a aftermarket switch, i reall dont want the speedo so thats good news, already did all 3 of the lights it came with, been buildin stuff to b able to use factory honda stuff without modifing the honda parts, except the driveshaft and frame, hahahaaaa for the shifter i used solid linkage, and a bellcrank to make work, short automotive shift lever, and a piece of handlebar tube slippedmover shift lever and the original left side hand brake/reverse lever mounted there. B nice to pickup another handle to put on so not have to mod it all over again. Starter making my own disc brake conversion lastnight,(polaris rmk donar parts) doing the frontend first, got rotors mounted up, need a few bolts/nuts, just need to make the caliper brakets now for the front.
  17. Ok guys, Question-how important is it to have the instrument cluster hooked up, mine is shot, but dont really care to install it if not needed. Or mayb an aftermarket speedo? But ive heard to not use aftermarket Chines junk on a honda. Also ill be looking for a few parts to finish up stuff, and to fix broken/workin stuff i dont like. Ing switch and key, front left brake handel that also pulls lever for reverse lockout. Just needs to pull reverse lockout. Also very interested in the reduction setup that Fish mentioned with the change of parts from 300 to get 14.5% redution. And r most guys buyin the SuperATV disc brake conversion for front and back? They sure proud of them huh. $229 front and $229 back. Think ill look into making my own disc brake setup for front and back. Unless u guys know a trick. Hahahaaaa
  18. Mmmm thats to bad i like the 2 450 Yamaha Wolverines 4 wheelers i have they been good to me. But ive always been a honda lover bought my first new one in 1984, honda 200x, $1845 on christmas sale, regular price $2120. Gave me enough left to buy a Simpson model 52b hemlet. Hahahahaaaa i was 14 yrs old then and had some $ from workin the family goldmine. Hahahahaaaa
  19. Im a goldminner here is Ester, 34yrs on same ground now, half a mile from the PO. but my family been mining since 1977 around Alaska. I've built everything seems like, and for the lasy 3-4 yrs its been airplanes, have 3 flying now, one was a flyer when i got it, and built the other 2. Yea the garage/man-work-cave has all a guy would need, recliner, directv, coffee pot, fridge, microwave, plus every tool i could want, ect, but its not a wood stove, im to lazy for hauling wood, Hahahahahaaa, i spend losts of time in there in winter, and have a 6000sq ft shop here also for the planes and equipment but dont heat it in winter too spendy for fuel. Yea it was a 97 honda 400 foreman 4x4, and a center section from a yerfdog spider 150, Im not lookin for speed, and dont mind the 4x4 all the time, im building it to go slow and mayb anywhere u point it so the gear redution is of intrest to me for sure. The yamaha is my 18yr old sons its a 81 heritage special 400, u can c him sittin in the chair in one of the pic. He is 6'2" and the youngest kid. Hahahaaaa
  20. Hahahaaa thanks buddy!!! Ill have to say this was a frozen, boredom, set in brainstorm for sure. Mayb some MJ in there to. Should b good for haulin fishin gear, and good for a wore out guy to get in and out of to. Hahahahahaaa
  21. Ok guys finally got a free min to post on the custom build im doing. Hope u guys like it, feel free to ask questions or give ur imput for makeing an even better machine.
  22. Well YaHoo i made it, thanks shadetree for the invite, u wouldnt belive it but took one of the ones id been tryin to use just a new day. Anyways ive been building a buggy from a 97 foreman 400. Has an8' center to center wheelbase, stock width, and still pretty light, make a good fishing buggy and alot cheaper than buyin a side by side. Hahahahahaaaa hope u guys like it.
