After getting the fiskars splitting axe, I don't know that I'll ever use a maul again.  If the splitting axe won't get it (smaller stuff) I'm going to be using wedges and a sledge anyway.

Ditto on the Fiskars Splitting Axe.  It is awesome.

Thanks on the advice.  Haven't heard back from the guy with the Pace Arrow but the wife found a real nice 2003 V10 powered one with a great description,  great maintenance including plug changes and even better condition.   Problem is we are # 4 in line.  The three before us are all traveling distances between 200 and 400 miles.   I'm not holding my breath.

I think the fall would be a good time to look as well.  You might get a deal on one because someone doesn't want to pay storage for the winter.  Good luck.

  3. You can't go wrong with the Ford V10.  I have the V10 in my 2000 Ford Excursion.  It's a proven engine.  Only downfall with mine is the 3.73 rear end for towing.  I am contemplating doing a gear swap considering the cost of vehicles right now.  I've owned  three 7.3's and they were all awesome but diesel will never be cheaper than gas again.  The maintenance cost is substantially more as well.  With the fuel prices continuing to rise i think we're going to see the prices of used trucks drop.  I'd wait it out if you can unless you get a heck of a deal.  So many people are gonna be upside down in these loans 🙃.  Good luck in your search.

  4. Well guys I am a sucker for vintage Honda's.  My buddy has a couple bikes and he has been trying to get me on a bike for awhile.  So I actually bought a vtx 1800 off a guy at work.  He gave me a good deal on it.  I knew it was too big for a first bike.  So I sold it and bought this 1985 Nighthawk 450.  I am really enjoying it.

Here is how I  mounted my Kolpin  gun boot  -- straight up draw

I like the way you mounted the gun boot.  I haven't had a lot of good luck with my guns staying zeroed do to the rough ride on a quad.

  7. I have been super busy with work lately.  I get one here daily and see what's going on.  I did put the Foreman to work the past few days while clearing some honeysuckle.  I used it to haul my tools around.

Just to update everyone on this issue and to help others out later, this problem came back, and worse then ever.  And I was getting very frustrated with it not staying in gear.  But the problem is now resolved.  Here is what I did to fix it....

First I removed the front & rear fenders so I could get at every electrical connector.  Then I unplugged every electrical connector I could find and packed them with dialectric grease and plugged them back in.  Next I cleared all of the error codes and a memory clear on the control unit.  And last but not least I then did a Angle sensor adjustment.  So the problem ended up being electrical, and not mechanical after all.

    Glad you figured it out.

  9. Well guys I ended up finding a matching set of red oem side panels.  My plan is to paint the right side cover blue.  So I was looking out the kitchen window the other morning waiting for these to arrive and the mail truck rolls up.  Then I about faint when I see the mail lady trying to stuff the covers in my mailbox.  I watched her make two attempts to get the package in the mailbox and on the third attempt she gets the package stuffed in.  It took me a few attempts but I finally got the package out.  Luckily they were intact.

Ok. The guy who's picture I included above replied back. He's not using the 350 front shocks in back. Here's whY he wrote"

" I used both. The front 450 shocks I put on the back. And the back 450 shocks I used on the front of my 350. The shock lengths match up better that way. Had to grind on the eyelets of the shocks to make them fit the front of the 350. I also had to swap upper bushings around in the shocks. I was surprised how easy it all went together."

I read about this years back on the highlifter forum.  If you are doing a lot of trail riding this would probably be a good idea.

  11. I am looking at purchasing some tires for the old Foreman 350d.  I am staying with the stock size.  I use this thing on the grass quite a bit so I am not doing a ton of trail riding with it.  I do use it for hunting season.  I am not looking to spend a ton on tires for this rig.  So I have narrowed it down to a couple options.  The Gbc Dirt Devils  and the Deestone d930's.  They have both been around for a long time.  The only knock I can see about the Deestone's are them being 4 ply.  Here is a link to them if your not familiar with them.

    Has anyone ran these tires?
