  1. my last Buck I killed here in PA, I had ZERO plans to shoot this buck, has been trying to let it grow, passed on it dozens of times that season, was under my stand at about 10 yards the night before on camera at 10 pm, all healthy

next day it showed up limping with a  gun shot in it,(was in archery ONLY late season)

so, rather than see it suffer with a gun shot, I punched a tag for the last time

I managed the property this deer was on for almost 20 yrs, and the last 25 or so deer that came off it LEGALLY<  every single one when butchering them, we would find at LEAST 2 bullets in them, mostly 22 or 9 mm or even 45  pistol rounds

had a major problem with a  private community that was close by with folks driving about w=shooting out windows at deer, everyone knew about ti too, from local cops to state game dept, and yet they wouldn't;t lift a finger to stop it!

got to be so frustrating, letting bucks go to TRY and get them to live to get shot OUT of season, or just illegally!

and the amount of trespassers I used to catch on the land was insane, from walkers to hunters to atv riders!!

coudn't; tell you how many times I wished I could shoot trespassers, I'd of filled tractor trailers up some weeks ! LOL

had thousands of pic's of him, , a 3.5 yr old PA buck,  not many here make it that long , too  trigger happy hunters and cheaters about!

  2. well been a few yrs since I hunted, got burnt out on it after 30+ yrs of 3+ months a yr hunting all over the USA and Canada, I went from one extreme to another, from hunting WAY too much to ZERO, just woke up one day and decided to call it quit's

     or for now any how!

I have wildlife in my yard almost  every hour of every day, from big things to small

never hunted things near me, never seemed fair, too easy, so always liked traveling to try new places and see what I can find!

     TOODEEP
that's a LOT of deer there in your area

someone should really help put a dent in that population , too many deer, ends up causing some sort of sickness in things and can wipe out whole heard and such

hunting is a good thing for healthy animals, something many NON hunters don;t get!

Iv'e have many great deer hunts in SD, mostly the North west part of the state(or NE part of the state), never seen numbers like you got, but have seen a LOT of them in some places!

you almost make me want to go on a  hunt again!

must be a few big bucks in with all them deer! LOL

here is a pic of my Last SD buck, I missed judged size, but was close

I always set a 145 inch goal out west on WT's

and this one went 141 LOL

    so was close!

was in a great area with much larger, should have held off however!

  3. well took me 40 lbs of propane to torch my drive way enough to get truck up to top of hill and a walking oath  to shed and feeder!

and snowing like mad the whole, time, so minus my melted pathways, everything under the snow now is ICE, its like one of them memory games now, to NOT step off the melted path onto the darn ice LOL

that 2 B gravel I have down, is like a yard full of iced over marbles, thank God I don;t  have  job no more and have to DO things here!

as I'd be calling off and getting nothing done  !  my buddy fell yesterday on the ice by his house and shattered his wrist, now needs a few surgery's  and some pin's put in to try and keep it working!

I seen 3 cars leave my road today, LOL>< normally see about a 100!+ a day in and out here!

so, I gather some folks are using there heads and staying HOME rather than risking a crash!

MrBB ----  Maybe you can become a snow bird , migrate down to da'bayou  when the ice starts to make you stir crazy , then when it melts head on back to the house , them bears will watch your place while your gone

Fish I had wings I would fly some place else, but as is, honestly I am STUCK here, gravity and thick ice, ain't letting my truck move up my drive way

breaking out the flame thrower soon to see if I can melt some LOL

    this sucks

have 2+ inches on top right now, too! and still snowing now!

MrBB , I hear you on the ice , that don't sound like much fun .....

I am glad we got all this global warming going on , I couldn't handle it without it , right now at my house it is 39F , 20mph wind , 75% humidity and no sun today , worst day in a while , tomorrow is suppose to be colder

well global warming, climate change or what ever TERM someone wishes to use, I say weather AIN"T normal no more, things that for centuries could be counted on are  no longer valid

its snowing here now  so I now have a good inch on top of a 1/2 inch of ice

breaking out the propane torch tomorrow and going to try and see what it does on this much cold ice/snow!

as having to wait till MAYBE Sunday to see if things warm up enough to melt any, is a LONG wait and gamble!

even my township has NOT been up or down my road with a plow or salt truck, my street looks sketchy haven't seen a vehicle leave or come in all day!

  6. well guys, yes I did hear about your tornado, and feel for those that got damaged by it, them things are nasty any time of yr!

and as for me moving to a warmer place, no never ever entered my mind, I like snow, been a snowmobile almost all my life, so, I wouldn;'t even want to live where there isn;t snow.

its the dam ICE I hate,  most all my winters ICE like this has been RARE like once every 10 yrs

BUT the past 3 winters in a  row now its several times a week at times, with ICE, NOT snow, or just cold temps, but tons of rains in winter, something we never had before!

its NOT normal winters here no more, BIG difference iin winters here since about 2014 which was our last some what normal winter

ever since then things just ben wild with temps wings,

even having 60-70 degree days in dec and Jan and feb

     so, its NOT right!!

     NOW back to this ice

well, had me a first here today

I have wild life here all the time and when weather is like this and its NOT hunting season, I will help feed some things a little corn, have a feeder here I will fill in bad times

today, about 20 deer laying in back yard staring at all my windows, every time I look out a window there is one eyeballing me up LOL

as they too know the drill, when things get bad, food shows up here??

SO< I start feeling back and make an attempt to go outside and throw some corn in feeder!

trying to get down the deck steps was an adventure, and I salted the crap out of them an hour in advance, but the 1/2 inch thick ice, ain't melting much with new rain falling and freezing on top!

I manage to get down steps, and now its a DOWN hill on an angled slope(think side hill ) to my shed where I have the corn and then down an even   steeper hill to feeder!

everything and I mean everything has a 1/2 inch of ice on it

once at bottom of steps, I literally SLIDE like on ice skates PAST my shed half way down hill, and just out of control slide! LOL

NOW< below shed, and sort of STUCK there, couldn;t take a step forward, every time I tried I went farther backwards!@#~

NOW thinking this was a BAD idea,  deer down below looking at me like HURRY up where HUNGRY ! LOL

as even they had no plans to run or move as must be super hard on them with skinny legs and hard feet on ice like this!

I ended up down on my hands and knee's crawling to get to my shed

filled a 5 gallon bucket, and then SAT ON bucket and slide down PAST Feeder, lucky a NICE tree stopped me before going too far down

pretty sure deer were laughing at me !

NOW< below feeder and STUCK there, attempted the crawl and pull bucket deal and got NO where??
I was STUCK on the side of a hill

NEVER had this happen before ??

The four letter words were a flowing pretty good, thinking what a moron I must be out here in this crap! like what a BRIGHT IDEA THIS WAS????

so, here I am STUCK now

     what to do

well, Back to crawling> I managed to break a rock loose and was able to chisels away some hand grips and foot holds

to get me to my feeder, which is covered by a HUGE hemlock pine tree, so NOT Much ice near feeder, was able to stand back up and  re think things??

Shed about 50 yards away now, UP hill, then have to go UP hill across a slope to get back to deck??

after about 45 minutes of crawling and sliding BACK where I started a few times, and lots of cursing, soaking wet now too!, as I didn;t plan to be out there so long or would have dress better!

I managed to make it back to my house!

NOW< I DO OWN Ice grippers for boots, BUT as I went out, thinking I would be FINE without em  LOL
so lesson l learned on that thought process!

and I am 100% positive there ain;t NO way in ! my truck is moving any where till this crap melts

gravity wins when ice is down! 4x4 or not!

so, that was my day, deer seem happy, now all laying at feeder,a s I doubt they too want to try and go any where till it melts!

I see one with a  broken leg already!

  7. OK I am officially SICK of ICE

this weather any more just SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS!

its winter, its below freezing., why the ! is it raining??

been raining now since 8 pm last night, and 2 pm now!

below freezing, so all the rain is doing is falling and freezing, have a good 1/2 inch of ice coating everything, my street looks like a frozen river

there NOW calling for 5+ days of below freezing temps, so, AIN"T Like this ice is going any where any time soon!)

and worse yet there calling for a a few inches of snow, which will just insulate the ice and keep it from melting, adding  slick coating of snow on top of slick ice, is NO help or fun!

had one deer already show up with a broken leg today!

all yr we been having countless  temp swings, going a 100% in different directions in temps, from 90 to 40 to 20 to 60 degree's and so on, ,  in 24 hours periods,

and   NOW we need a warm up to get rid of dam ice

    and none in sight !!

heck calling for snow on top of this ice, with temps staying below freezing for next 5-6 days!

I can handle snow, , rain even,  even heat and cold, but this dam  ice, its terrible!!

I cannot imagine what and how many accidents are happening from it, NO plans to leave my place till its gone!, heck NOT even sure I could get out of my UP hill drive way if I wanted too, 4x4 or not, its a sheet of ice on a slope right now?

I might end up breaking out the propane torch just to melt some so I can walk without killing myself

as I know as I got older, the ground seemed to get harder when I fall LOL

  8. well way I see it is this,

if what your doing isn't being as good to you as before, take some time off and just do something else

as quite honestly, turning tools will always be there if you want o go back to it!

I was sort of forced out of my job with a back injury after almost 24 yrs, then company left the country screwing all its workers left behind

still have back injury(no fix in that) and have since now been out of work since 2009

I don't buy into folks die after they retire, or at least that the retirement had anything to d with it

Life style changes MAYBE, but odds are if your a guy that stays busy at work, your going to stay busy when you retire, or all folks I know that lived by ALWAYS being busy, that is what they all do, !, a good portion of them I think NOW work more hours and harder than they did before they retired!

I'm always busting there ! about it as well

I mean, Crap, point of retiring IMO< is tyo enjoy time off to do things you couldn;t when working

if your going to retire(Make less $$) and just plain work more

     WHY did you even retire??

I can honestly tell you I don;t miss my old job at all

I DO miss the income and the benefits it provided me and its been a struggle to adjust to there losses, I miss my health more than anything as its  been a hard pill to swallow daily ever since!

Maybe it all comes down to how much you like or dislike your job too though!

    SHade IMO

if working on atv 's and such, ain;t making you happy as it used to

     DO something else I say!

never know till you try as they say!

yes the first one, the video makes me laugh every time I see it LOL

and the second one,  , has a ton of top names in it, , yet seems rather unknown!

they don't play a lot of good songs on radio or satellite, so many go un noticed and are some great songs too boot, a shame they, seem to just play same things over and over more than a new one now and then!

well I worked in a music industry of sorts, my company produced and made music , cannot tell you how many bands I sen in person  walk thru the company's door's were in our studio's and just walking about, had countless chances to meet in person  major bands and artist's

seen a LOT of bands fly in  to the private helicopter pad and then walk about us while we worked, or would have private meetings with them and get silly things like autographs and albums  or T shirts or crap like that!

some days it was a royal pain, as they would cause crowds in long lines, making just getting to to your JOB a problem!

and let me tell you there are so many groups most never heard of that made albums

here is one many never heard but might find ?? LOL

sorry on the language, but most adults here I gather

  12. well I'll add this, just due to I am still not happy LOL

I USED to use Schumacher tenders' and well, battery chargers

till like 2 yrs ago, I went and bought  some new tenders, BRAND NEW one's

hooked one up to a skid steer I had and the tender went nuts and over charged my system, ruined battery and a whole bunch of electrical parts on machine, costing me a LOT of money to repair

things fail I get it, BUT< when I contacted  Schumacher, they were nice and understanding and CLAIMED they would stand by there product and help with repair costs due to tender was under warranty and  all, they started a claim for me, and then, STOPPED responding to calls and emails and just plain refused to ever get back to em after they opened the claim and SAID they would help

been 2 yrs now and not a single reply to any reach outs from me,  and even if I use a different email address or phone number, once they know its me, they  stop talking!

SO< this being said, I will never use any of there products again! there customer service was filled with nothing but liar's! apparently and they DON"T stand behind there products at all IMO or experience!

I am now using Battery tender plus maintainers and so far all seem to be doing what they were made to do problem free!

  13. well MY # 1 would have to just be a EXTRA large shop that is insulated, heated AC, and well great lighting, NO super lighting!

I'm tired of needing light when working on things

and a few bays, one for welding, one for washing, and one that is rather clean for more detailed work!

never have enough dam room in a shop IMO
    after the size of shop

Guess, all the basic tools, in NICE cabinets,  preferably on wheels, so you can move them as needed without dropping a nut!

this way also, so things can be found when needed and NOT scattered all over, making you curse to find things that AIN"T where you thought they were!

like any thing, only thing you don't need will be what you cannot afford, ain't every heard anyone actually complain about having a  ODD tool when they needed it!

things I like to keep on hand, is a LARGE selection of extra nuts bolts and washers, is countless sizes and materials(grade 5-8, stainless steel, galvanized and such) and in both SAE and Metric!

as cannot tell you how many times I have dropped one and it to go MIA  , into some black hole into space far far away never to be found again LOL

      and need a replacement!

and a nice big cabinet full of assorted chemicals, like carb cleaner, brake cleaner, oils, wd -40  and so on, never seem to have enough at times of one  of em!

many times its the small things than can make  a shop nicer to be in!

  14. all the stores up here are out of ammo  or darn close and  I was told NO more ammo will be carried at Walmarts

if you ho to there main web site, they don;t list ammo any more for sale

all ammo here was on sale a LOT a few months back , big discounts on it,  sold out in most stores near me too!

I know you hate to see them almost be tame around you and then get taken during season.  Hopefully they remain very wary of other humans.

bears are a LOT smarter than many folks know and they do know the difference between ME and others

as even if I have people here many won;t show  themselves till they leave

more than 30 yrs of me being about bears this way, adn I don;t think I have caused any of them to loose there fear of humans or become  nuisance bears, I have a close relationship with the game dept, and  small towns here, so words travel fast and no one complaining, minus a few odd occasions when there trash gets torn up, and honestly, thats on them, for living where bears are and taking simple steps in  preventing it from happening

has nothing to do with me IMO
bears live by there noses, your over fill trash cans with lots of food and goodies that smell and well your asking to trouble

this is and has been all my life a HIGH bear number area

and folks here know it, and have, and most all know how to NOT have issue's

I am again not against hunting  and hunters getting some,  its part of things here and its again GOOD they get hunted, it makes for healthier bears ion the long run!

but it does  sort of sting a bit when you help hand raise one , and over so many yrs, helped it thru other health issue's

and have it about for almost a decade, when its been like a pet of sorts in a  ODD way  to me I think it was more like a friend, than a pet relation ship

     LOL
, and it ends up getting killed, and leaving behind its cubs(like kids)

that are helpless without there mom

never easy watching small things  that are cute too, come into hardships!as they say all things come to a end,!

just nature at work some times, and not always the nicest of things either!

  16. well seems my one orphaned cub, made thru LEGAL bear season, just showed up on my deck!

so   now he  has to get thru rest of deer season (dodging cheaters) and  then hopefully, learn to den for winter and sleep  a few months

the state claimed to have set a new record bear kill in PA. this yr, and I sure know My area took a BIg hit on bears, I normally loose 2-3 bears a  yr and this yr lost 12 I am positive of!

which is a HUGE difference than the past 20+ yrs here average of again 2-3!

doubling the amount of bear hunting, sure  got the numbers down IMO

I hope they don;t go too far in the reduction of them, a shame to see a state that worked so hard to have the bears we do /did

     to go the other way!
bear success was one of the game depts, best things they did and received a ton of awards and advanced the know how about black bears several times over due to how in involved this state got in learning about them

only time will tell I guess!

  17. well it is now 50 F here and getting warmer they say by morning MID 50's

they said 30's this morning and now changed there minds on temps, as seems a warm front moved in? LOL

and now calling for 5 days of rain, then a COLD front with snow mixed in with the rain,

so mid 50's tomorrow morning and SNOW by days end! and then mix of rain rest of week?

went like 100+ days with rain this spring/summer. with it raining every 40 hours, I am SURE hoping winter ain;t going to be this way

not sure what happened to just SNOW In winter time, but these rains this time of yr SUCK IMO!

as temps drop, it gets all ice, and  ice is way harder to deal with than snow!

  18. its 33 F here and raining like mad,  its going to drop into the low 20's tonight and  be a mess outside here< I Hate ICE!

as it doesn't go away till a good warm up, and its winter now, shouldn't have  any of them NORMALLY, but, these days never know

  19. was 12 F here this morning, light snow a falling  and rather windy, making it feel colder than it is!

I don;t mind the cold or snow, but I hate the ice, this last rain storm went from rain  to sleet to snow, and  was below freezing the whole time, so that left ice under  and on everything,  can plow the snow off the ice, but till it warms up, the ice ain';t going any where here, solid 1 inc thick or more in spots on the driveway

funny part is, since I am at top of MY here, if I go about a  1/2 mile in any direction from me,

all the snow and ice is gone already

that little bit extra elevation, sure can make a difference in things melting or not! or just snow, to rain!

  20. back injuries suck, I have had more than my share

one of my last one's and  this is 100% true

I was getting out of a chair at work and  tore a  some muscles in my upper back, should have seen me  going into my bosses office to tell him I got hurt on the job getting out of my chair LOL

its weird how things can go bad

and I'll tell you this, once you have a bad back, its pretty much a keeper for life and as yrs go by it only gets worse, or that's how its been for me

I have many days I am useless, don;t know what to do with myself, cannot sit, stand, lay down, or move, breathing hurts

and to those that never had a BAD back, or bad back pain, they have NO clue what it really is like, till THEY experience it

its real easy to say, its NOT that bad or live with it, deal with it

and a whole other thing when its your back that is depleting you!

and trust me when you hurt your back  in the right way, it will drain your energy faster than about anything, and prevent you from doing even simple things

  21. I was thinking a little here

something you can do to stiffen up the plow blade would be to add a much larger thicker wear bar across the bottom

and on the adjustment place where things mount and plow angle adjusts

but as for the mount where plow attaches and angle is adjusted

A good machine shop I am sure can make you one out of thicker metal if you wished,

but you might end up bending the ! out of your frame from hitting things, , as if plow does't bend, something else will maybe?
