What do you think of the EPS, Mac? I don’t have it on my 2015, no way to buy one without now.

I don't know about Mac but I love the EPS on my Rubicon.  I would actually turn it up a little bit if I could.  One time I did hit a square rut with one wheel and it quit working and showed a fault.  I turned the key off for a little bit and when I restarted it everything was ok.

my brother was using the bushhog, an got attacked by those little hornets. i was wondering how you find the nest, without getting stung? i gotta a plan... involves gas... 💣

How do you find them?  You get your brother to bushhog the same place again and you watch for the place where he starts swatting hysterically and jumping off of the tractor.  That's where they'll be.  😁

It was a few weeks ago that I was trimming around my trailer where some old wood was stacked.  I felt my legs start burning and when I looked down yellow jackets were all over my pant legs..  I took off swatting at them then stopped to knock them off of my pants.  They just kept on coming.  I got stung on the legs. arms and face.  I still haven't destroyed their nest.  This is the second time in my life that I've been attacked by yellow jackets.  The first time I was about 15 years old hunting papaws with my dad.

I don't know about ground hornets stinging at night but I can tell you that the hornets that have nests hanging from trees will sting at night if you bother them.  Don't ask me how I know.

Thanks for the link.  I'll do some reading up on the choices.  The modular engine did my no favors with a 2009 5.4 I had in my company heavy F150.  The cam phasers started giving me problems at 40K and at 50K the company mechanic thought being proactive and changing plugs would be a good idea except the damage was already done.  Two were fused in so bad they broke off.  The cam phaser problem continued on an off until we upped the viscosity of the oil.   Ford like every other publicly held company dropped the 460 and went with the V10 for one reason.   Reduce production costs.

Even if they didn't have the plug issues they seem to use more fuel than the 460 or 454.  As a last resort a Triton with helicoils would do but I want proof of the work.  After all, this is a Honda forum.  We demand reliability.

I have read that there are two versions of the Triton V10.  One with three valves per cylinder and one with two.  I also read that the two valve is the better of the two and that they only put the two valve in motorhomes because of space issues.  I have no idea how accurate what I just said is so take it with a grain of salt.

My 460 would tend to run very warm but never hot.  It was carbureted and that would cause it to vapor lock on occasion in hot weather but that shouldn't be an issue with the fuel injected models.

Good luck with whatever you wind up with.

  4. Hate to see you go because I always enjoyed reading your posts and looking at the pictures that you posted.  I guess the bottom line is that your health comes first.  I didn't know any thing about your stroke and I hope you get back to 100% soon.

I agree with you about the shape our country is in and it's continually getting worse by the hour.  I also agree with most all and maybe even all of the things you have said.

  5. I had a 1986 24 Class C with a 460 in it.  It was a good engine but like all of them it didn't get very good gas mileage but it had a C6 3 speed auto in it.  The only place I had trouble with the power was coming up a huge hill that I think was on the west side of Yellowstone.  To be fair I don't think anything less than a strong diesel would pull that hill with any authority.

I was under the impression that the V-10 was a good engine.  I know that they had some spark plug blowout and seizing issues with some of the early ones but there is a fix and most of them have probably been fixed by now.  If I bought one I'd want to make sure it had been fixed or was one of the ones that didn't have the problem.

Since yall are on electroncs repair,I have one of these in my 83 GMC.  For the last year or two, it only works when it's hot outside, and then only the tape deck works, not the display.

Maybe this winter I'll pull it out and start a "build thread" on it and see if ya'll can walk me through it.  I'd rather learn how to do it than just send it off to be fixed or buy a new one.

Bought mine in 1993 from Crutchfield.

I'm just a tech wanna be.  I can change parts out but I'm not very good at the diagnosing part of it.  Ok, I'm terrible at the diagnosing part of it.  Sometimes I get lucky and I'm the blind hog that finds an acorn  This is only a guess but it may be bad belts or the drive system needs cleaned up.  You might try taking the cover off and cleaning and lubricating all of the moving parts.  It wouldn't hurt to clean the controls either.

I spent $189 on an electronics parts order at Mouser last week and had a difficult time finding alternative parts for commonly available components. Capacitors (high quality. low ESR and also audio grades) were the most difficult components to find. I ended up buying 3rd choice parts because the best cap brands were sold out with lead times of several months.

So those experiences with quality brand capacitor unavailability made me look closer at quantities in stock for other parts that I know that I will eventually need. I bought the last 7 high-wattage DC/DC 5 volt Isolated power supplies that were in stock, despite only needing two of them right now. I took the last 9 dual-ganged audio taper potentiometers in stock too, although I only need 5 of them right now. Major brand tantulum caps that I wanted were not in stock, so I had to leave them out of my order for now. I bought extra voltage regulator chips and PCB mount relays as well, because in stock quantities were low. Its getting to the point that I may not be able to provide for all of my hobbies for very much longer...?

The most painful thing for me personally right now are the inflated prices we gotta pay for everyday goods and supplies though. I took two empty 6 gallon gas cans with me last week to refill with 91 octane premium, to keep all of my stashed fuel supply topped up and my $30 purchase only got me 1.5 cans, where in the past two full cans always cost me less than $30.

Meat prices and canned food increased in price this month again too. So I spent an extra $200 on meat hoping to avoid spending more for the same stuff next month. My food budget is pretty stressed out right now, but I feel like I'd better continue to expand my food stocks in earnest before much worse price inflation comes to pass during this late summer & fall.

This coming winter will be a brutal and challenging one as a result of fuel price increases and sparse availability of fuels and many other basic necessities. Y'all get crackin' on your supplies preps now, cause what you are about to experience will be memorable for sure!

I have to ask what kind of electronics do you work on?  I work on vintage stereo stuff a little bit but I'm not very good at it.

Oh, and the shortages.  There's a shortage of smart honest politicians.

I guess I should have been more clear.  The man on the tv program doing the editorial (the one Archie was watching) at the beginning of that clip was the one that I thought was Sorrell Booke.

Also, the Maricopa County AZ election recount and forensics audits just began on the 23rd and is estimated to take the three primary forensics teams about 18 days to complete. We will learn about the frauds that were committed there in about 3-4 weeks. Professional folks in the know say that the frauds that will be uncovered in AZ will also provide proof that 16 other states were jimmied in the same manner, by the same perps.

The dems have been trying very hard to shut this down but so far haven't succeeded.  I hope it's allowed to continue and be finished.  My only concern is that it's been so long since the election that there has been ample time to change and cover up the fraud.  Hopefully the truth will be exposed.

I have read that in 2019 during the Ky. governor's election that there was a ballot dump late that day in favor of the dem who supposedly won.  He's been trampling on our rights ever since he got in office.

The regular MS180 has two nuts like a normal chainsaw.  This one was an MS180C with "easy start" aka the rope breaks if you pull on it hard, and this crappy "quick chain adjuster"

Here's a link to the Intenz bar like I have.  If you ever come across one run away.  I'm going to go ahead and buy the adjuster screw and I still won't have much money in it.  I'm sure glad that my other saws are a lot better than the Poulan.

Took the MS180 out to cut a bunch of saplings this weekend, widening out the trails on the farm.  It does a great job on small stuff.  I think I might ditch the "tooless chain tightener" and get a regular side cover with nuts to hold the bar in place.  Not a big fan of this "easy" crap they put on the homeowner saws.

My new Forester bar and chain will be here today.  Be interesting to see how they work on this saw.

Are you referring to the Oregon bar that adjusts with the bar itself.  If so you may be able to get an adjuster that'll fit the side cover that you have now.

Not too long ago there were two saws and two trimmers at the end of a driveway that said free.  I picked up the saws because they looked to be in good condition.  One was a Poulan 3816 and the other was a Homelite XL Little Red.  Cheap saws but what the heck because they were free.  I put new fuel lines on the Poulan to get it going and it's running pretty good but still needs the carb tweaked some.  It has the adjuster in the bar and when I tried it out it threw the chain twice.  I got to looking at the clutch cover and I believe I can just buy the adjusting screw with the other parts to make it work.  If I get it working well I'll use it for my grubbing saw so I won't mess up my good ones.  The Homelite would run but not for long.  Probably the fuel lines on that one too.  I would have got the trimmers too but couldn't get them in my car trunk and they were gone when I passed back through.

  13. It's built like a tank and rides like one too.  LOL

I'm a Honda guy too but those things have gone out of sight pricewise since this time last year.  I'll let you all know if the carb clean and valve lash adjustment helps.  Might be awhile before I get around to it though.

I did ask the guy if he had the original carb and he said no.  It probably wound up in the garbage.

  14. He said his son rode it on the family farm so who knows what that really means.  He also said that it was a 2002 but after I checked the numbers I found out that it was a 2000.  That could have been an honest mistake though.  They've probably already ran over a tank of gas through it so I doubt at this time it's the gas but it could be.  I got a parts bike with it that he said was running but knocked.  He took the engine off and took the outside covers off.  I might try and work on it later on.  It has a china carb on it and if I can't get this one straightened out I'll swap them out but don't have much hope for that to work.

  15. I did put a new plug in it but didn't seem to make any difference.  I put some fuel treatment in it and it seems to have improved a little bit but I'm guessing with it's age that it's had gas left in it for long periods of time and the carb is due for a cleaning.  Even if it doesn't need cleaning it won't hurt it.  While I'm cleaning the carb I'll adjust the valves if needed and check the cam chain out.  I guess if the valve lash is too loose it could cause it to do what it's doing too.  It's running good enough for them to ride but it isn't exactly right and that bothers me.

  16. It is a miss at high rpm.  It doesn't really run erratic but just kinda flattens the rpm out so that it has to be shifted.  It really doesn't affect it very much unless you're running through the gears at full throttle.  When I get around to taking it apart I'll check the float level and the main jet for sure.

  17. It was me that was looking for a quad for the grandkids and I bought a 2000 220 Bayou a little while back.  The carb probably needs cleaned or adjusted because it has a burble (couldn't think of anything else to describe it) at high rpms.  Other than that it seems solid.  The grandkids love it but I don't like riding it.  It might have been ok if I hadn't been riding my Rubicon first.

  18. I've bought quite a few things off of Craigslist and Facebook through the years and have sold a few things.  There were a couple times that I felt uncomfortable but nothing that really stood out.

Last year in Louisville, Ky. there was a young guy who wanted to go look at a phone that was for sale on craigslist.  It was in the bad part of town so his dad decided to go with him.  They got ambushed and the dad died of a gunshot wound.  I think there have been 9 shootings in just the last two days in Louisville.

Last Saturday my granddaughter had a cheerleading competition in Louisville and there were BLM protesters there confronting these young girls shouting to them about their white privilege through bullhorns.  Some of them had guns and one person had his finger on the trigger.  Some of them supposedly exposed themselves to the little girls.  The media didn't report the part about the guns but the pictures were on facebook.  I think with the political climate that we have now some people feel emboldened and do as they please and even if they are caught and arrested the charges usually get dropped.
