ES to foot shift question

Recommended Posts

Is the stock ES foot shifter shaft weak, and it just does not hold up over time, if you put a foot shift on it ?

And also assuming you remove a gear from the shift motor.

I see on here where people mention that a stock foot shifter shaft is a different part #.

2004 450 ES

The shaft itself isn't any weaker, it just has the hex end instead of the spline end to mount a shifter to easily. Yes they remove the reduction gear to remove any resistance from the gears and motor while shifting. On the 450 they did use different transmission gears between the electric shift and the foot shift but you will be fine unless your are very abusive to the machine and in that case both possibly could give you issues.
