Delbert Buzzard 0 Posted March 25, 2020 In need of help I just bought a 2012 420 from a guy said it had a wiring issue my problem is that I am getting power every where but the ignition coil isnt putting a spark out to the plug and the coil itself is getting extremely hot just wondering if this could be as simple as replacing the coil or is my problem bigger than that? shadetree 5,543 Posted March 25, 2020 sounds like a bad ecu/ecm/c.d.i. , bad stator ?, bad reg/rec ?. all parts oem from honda on it now ?, or was parts purchased from ebay or amazon ?, DON'T BUY CHINA JUNK PARTS !.
shadetree 5,543 Posted March 25, 2020 run a check list from the service manual, start ohm'ing parts out, change spark plug with new, check all connections to see if they are tight and clean ?, check all fuses !.

toodeep 1,732 Posted March 25, 2020 If your getting the correct power and ground readings going to the coil it sounds like the coil itself is shorting out (getting hot).
