oh400ex 629 Posted August 16, 2020 2008 Rancher 420 ES EFI with a starting issue. The customer said that it was starting rough after being in water and will not start at all anymore. After tearing into the starter I found that the magnets were unstuck and mostly powdered. So if you ever run into an issue where your starter went out (maybe slowly) and your relay is clicking so that you can hear it... take off the starter and look at the permanent magnets. Due to price concerns he will be opting for an ebay starter but I'll likely end up just using the middle barrel of the new one as the brushes and starter motor its self are in great shape. In my experience the aftermarket starters are always louder and makes your fix feel cheap or incomplete but the customer makes their own choices on that. oh400ex
