Try this -- put meter on AC scale - place red meter lead under BL/Y connector on the ign. coil make sure BL/Y wire is on coil -- black lead on neg of battery -- crank motor see if you get ac volts

That is AC volts?
-
Charge the battery up
-
You tested from y to y?
-
Test stator -- unplug the rectifier connector -- put your meter on the AC scale check between the yellow wires for ac volts when cranking
-
The stator you put in did have the pulse coil with it -- if so check the 2 wire on the connector and make sure they are in the same place as the old one -- I found some stators were backwards
-
-
Try this unplug the CDI connector and remove the green wire from the ign. coil -- check for continuity on the G/W wire on the CDI connector to ground should read zero
-
CDI connector have 5 wire or 6 wires?
-
Neutral light is on when cranking?
-
Have you tried CDI that came with the ATV again?

Some Ign. coils can be tested that way some not.
Does the ATV turn over real good when starting?

Kill switch needs to be closed --see dia.

I am signing out -- will keep thinking this over

Reads 4.3 with cap off.
ok

Ok try this with the coil -- put the spark plug in the boot and ground the spark plug threads to the engine real good -- leave the G wire on the coil -- remove the BL/Y wire from the coil -- now place a wire on the tab of the coil that the BL/Y was on -- other end of wire just tap it on and off on the positive post of the battery see if the spark plug sparks ---

Did you do all the tests above? BL/W -- G/W --12vdc

-
Ok -- do you have a service manual?
-
anything on the frame
-
Ok -- I will see what I can find and get back to you
-
Ok -- are you sure the ATV is 87 -- are there any tags on the atv saying what it is? I will see if I can find a print with 5 wires on the cdi with the wire colors you gave me

Does your atv have a fuel meter on it?

Any other tests you will need a Peak Voltage Adapter to test with your meter. Voltage at the Ign. coil should be100 VDC & 0.7 VDC at pulse coil
