Check the Ign fuse
-
Hi @jeepwm69 unplug the ign. switch and put a jumper between the Red & Black wire on the harness side -- check voltage on ign. coil.

Hi Patrik: Good to see you fixed the problem -- here is something you may already know about the Pull start
Pull start TRX420
The pull start on my TRX 420 auto/es - EFI-- Has a pull start kit that came with a new harness, condenser, rectifier (diode) and relay. It will not start on a dead battery or battery disconnected. It also states with the instructions that the pull start is only to be used to start the engine when the battery is low. So in my case the pull start is no good to me if the battery is dead and they can fail when needed.
So I carry a booster packI did some testing on my TRX 420 before – This is what I have found as soon as the key is turn on the console lamps discharged the condenser right away, before I could pull the pull start.
Also check the system out and found that the condenser has to power the following.
Engine stop relay
Fuel pump relay to start fuel pump
Fuel injector
Ignition coil
Light up console lamps

Hi: Check this -- go to my post 6.57 PM look at the 2nd picture bottom right hand unplug the 2 small connectors Diode & Condenser check voltage on both red wires --what did you find?
-
Do this unplug the Key Switch -- on the connector side jumper the Red & Black wires together -- check the voltage on the ign. fuse
-
Hi: Like I said above disconnect the KEY Switch and measure the resistance across the red & Black wires -- should read zero -- I have replaced a few key switches on the 420 Hondas
-
Also disconnect the Ign. switch and check the continuity with the switch closed between the R and black wires

Hi: This could be caused by a dirty carburetor, dirty fuel filter, dirty air filter, bad petcock, valves in need of adjustment, faulty spark plug -- what are you using for gas?
-
Welcome Here -- If you haven't cleaned and tighten the battery terminals do so.
-
Hi Jeep -- the only thing I can think of is the ing. coil the woman replaced -- is that one of the wires on that coil is attached to the metal part of that coil or like you said bad coil.

Well yesterday we had power blink off for a second, and when it came back on 1/2 of Mom and Dad’s power didn’t come back on.
Dad had already checked the two big tube fuses in the box where power comes into the house, and they were both hot. He was headed to the basement when I got there.
The basement revealed this…..
House was built in 1919. Every one of those fuse boxes is hot on one side, not on the other. Of course, they’re all daisy chained off of one another so hard to tell where the actual supply line is for all of that.
So does that make you electrical types skin crawl?
Knob and tube wiring in most of the house.
They did redo some of the electrical coming into the house several years ago when they installed a new central air unit, so I’m guessing the part of the house that is still working is hooked up to the new side
Hi Jeep: Did you cure the problem ??

Now that is looking for trouble for sure -- gone to the limit of being stupid

We have the same trucks here (not painted up like those) they haul gravel -- they have a conveyor belt bottom for unloading.

I would start with looking at where the new wiring was connected to the old wiring coming into the house for a bad connection on the neutrals.

Hi -- you have lost the Neutral some place.

Your are great at getting things done ☺️

That's good

Hi: One other thing to try may have high resistance -- unplug the CDI connector and remove the wire off the positive post of battery -- then put meter on Ohm scale -- check from the BL/W on CDI connector to the wire removed from battery -- should read zero
-
Okay -- battery is good
-
Battery test --- place your meter on the battery -- take note of the battery reading -- leave meter on battery-- turn on head light for one minute and then turn off -- battery voltage should ramp back up to voltage before turning lights on.
-
Do you have a headlight on the ATV?
-
Okay -- Unplug the CDI and make sure you have 12vdc at the connector G/W to BI/W when cranking over the ATV

Take a wire and place it in along side the Bl/R of the ign coil to the positive of battery -- check for 12 volts on the unplugged gray connector Bl/R wire
