  1. Awesome.. Thanks for all the help peeps. I have a new cam chain so the next step will be removing the rocker cover box, check the timing properly, check the valves and probably try to get a look at the piston and cylinder. Thanks everyone
  2. It was cold. The bike doesn't run lol... so I can't get it warmed up. That's why I'm doing this compression test to figure out what's up with it. I know the timing is out for sure.
  3. Ah I think I see where I've gone wrong lol... my carb isn't on the bike. So the carb needs to be on to hold pressure in the cylinder? What does the oil do? Does it create a seal between the piston and the cylinder?
  4. So I've done a compression test and the results didn't look to promising.... I got a result of 50psi. I'm yet to check the timing but I guess it's probably a the valves or piston rings? Thanks
  5. Thanks retro. So I might as well do the compression test if I've already turned it over?
  6. Ah great thanks, keep meaning to get a compression tester to do a test before doing the timing. But you suggest getting the timing sorted before the compression test?
  7. Any progress on this sweet little project shade? Need some pics hahaha
  8. I'll try get a kit with a 12mm adapter on. Thanks
  9. Hi guys. I'm out not with my quad at the moment and I'm getting a compression tester. What size thread is the spark plug? Could anyone tell me? I think I remember it being 12mm but not 100% sure. Thanks
  10. Okay awesome! So I guess I'd have to take the timing chain out anyway to get to the valves? Thanks guys
  11. Okay great so I'll order some of that Hondabond 🙂 . Yes I'll check the timing before taking the chain out. I was gonna look at the valves as well? Is it worth doing that? Thanks guys
  12. I've found some Hondabond online. Is I this the right stuff?
  13. Just looked into it and it says something about RTV. So that's a no lol. Why is RTV bad? Thanks
  14. Yes I'll be getting a right side gasket. Would this stuff be suitable? It says honda bond?
  15. Great thanks shade! I'll go have a look about. Thanks man 🙂
  16. No worries haha, just a miss understanding man 🙂 So if its 114 links it'll work? I'm still new to the world of timing chains... lol

  18. No I don't mean to come across like I'm questioning your advice, your advice is extremely appreciated! I'm just trying to see if I can get a D.I.D chain from the UK. I've messaged the seller on eBay for the chain you posted to see if he can ship across the pond. Hopefully he can 🙂
  19. So you a D.I.D chain would be the best? One of the chains I posted a picture of is D.I.D? Found this as well.. what are the specifics for this quads cam chain? Does it just have to be 114 links or are there other measurements? https://www.bandcexpress.co.uk/buy/DID-DID-Cam-Chain-(endless)---219FTH---114-links/219FTH-114.AC4#eq1
  20. So I've had a look for cam chains and here's what I've found. Any opinion on what looks best or what you would suggest?
  21. Thanks shade haha. Sorry for the stupid questions lol Went and checked the tensioner earlier today and found out I more than definitely need a new cam chain lol. Here's a pic
  22. So remove the bolts and push it in by hand? How about when the bolts are in? I'm guessing they should be in all the way?
  23. What should the tensioner look like if it isn't stretched?
  24. Hi guys, hope everyone is having a nice time over the holidays. Just been looking through the manual and remembered about the cam chain tensioner. Would this impact my starting if its not putting the right tension onto the cam chain? I remember when I first took the engine out of the frame at the start of the build, the two bolts holding the tensioner in were very loose and I just tightened them up so it wasn't hanging out. Is there a specific setting for the tensioner? Thanks guys!
