  1. Wow thanks for all the input guys. Means a lot that you are all willing to keep putting your advice and knowledge into this to help me out. I know its going to be the best idea to split the cases and clean the engine out properly... so that's what I'm going to do. I'm not sure when I'll get round to doing this, it might have to wait till around June or so. I'm 18 and have exams to prepare for at the moment at college (college is a bit different over here lol) so most of my free time is going into that currently 😞 lol. I might end up doing it over a period of time I'm not sure, the only negative to that is I'd probably start to forget what goes where lol. So doing it when I'm totally free looks to be the best option. Appreciate all the help
  2. @shadetree I ain't got a air impact in my workshop/shed unfortunately. So should the kickstart shaft wobble? And yeah the mesh was very mucky to say the least lol... You'd probably strip the engine out and rebuild, and that's probably the best thing to do here. But right now I don't have the time for all that. I'd prefer to just get her running for the moment lol... she'll get an engine rebuild one day I promise.
  3. Should the kickstart shaft wobble?? It feels like it shouldn't... just checking. Still haven't got that second clutch off lol... Gonna make a holder that bolts onto the 4 bolts.
  4. The problem is more that this inner part now turns because the springs aren't in anymore 🤔
  5. @jeepwm69 Yeah the mesh was pretty nasty lol. Thanks for that jeep. Jammed the gears with a leather glove and the first clutch is now off. How do you get second one off? Because you can't just jam the gears with it. The inner bit turns now that the springs are off. I don't have an impact either 😞
  6. Also what's the best way to hold the clutch without a clutch holder? Or do I HAVE to have a clutch holder?
  7. Thanks man. So I should just clean out that crap as best I as I can? And get on with changing out the cam chain?
  8. So the cover is off! I feel like that's definitely going to be the easiest part of this job lol. Got to say it's not looking too clean in there 😞 .... At the bottom there is a layer of grey gunk stuff with what looks like water droplets, as well as black bits of debris. Here's some pics for you shade lol (and everyone else :)
  9. I've just got to the stage of removing the cover. All the bolts are out and all parts in the way taken off. But the cover still feels like it's bolted on, but it's not lol... Do I just need to tap it with a rubber hammer round the edges to break the seal or something? Thanks
  10. Yeah that's what I thought, I have just changed the oil but this still looks dirty. What are the signs of water in it? I'm gonna try get the cover off today, fingers crossed it's all good.
  11. Ah okay I'll remember that. Bolt has been removed as well 👍 Thanks man
  12. Here's some pics of the oil filter: The filter itself looked pretty clean but there was some grey smudgey stuff and black oil at the bottom of where the filter is held.
  13. Is it something to be concerned about if the reverse lever shaft pushes in and out slightly?
  14. Thanks @retro. Gonna go have a little play now. Take some things off ready to get the cover off 🙂
  15. Okay great. I drained the oil a while ago and replaced the old oil filter and engine oil. This was before I knew the engine was bust lol. I remember a few bits of grey/white ish gunk come out but not loads. The old oil filter was in good condition as well and not filled with crap. When I started doing this work I drained the fresh oil I'd put in as I knew I was gonna be doing the cam chain. That oil came out looking good with nothing in it. I'll check out that fresh oil filter I put in and see how that looks when I go to remove that cover. Might get into it today, but if I don't it will have to wait till the weekend... bit busy with life stuff at the moment lol Thanks guys.
  16. No I wasn't planning on splitting the cases if I don't have to lol. I was only planning on taking the right side cover off to replace the cam chain.
  17. So while I wait for the gasket kit and valve compressor to arrive. Can I start taking that right side cover off and change out the cam chain?
  18. Wow this looks soooo incredible man. Makes me realise I need to make some time to get mine done lol. This build looks so epic 🤘
  19. Yeah you did haha. I looked for one back then but the only thing on fleebay in the UK is this full gasket kit which isn't cheap. So I wanted to wait until I knew if I'd need the top end gaskets or not before buying. I'll order it up now though 🙂
