run your chainsaw. if its mixed, it will keep, running, if not, it will lock up..

just funning, dont do that.. the gas should have a green tint to it.  What is worth mentioning though, i had an opac gas can an the color of the gas would change, if left in the sun. just dont buy a gas can of this type to mix gas. store your gas different. probable best anyway.

I did what you suggested and my chainsaw is now a brick.  Thanks.

Just kidding, I didn't do that.

i marked my gas can for my chain saws with a black magic marker, weed eater, leaf blower, i run all of them just like i did when i had my 2-stroke , 25hp outboard mercury, 40:1 mix.

Mine is marked now, but this new can I failed to do so immediately and wished I had.

    Blue is mixed.

I mix mine a little heavier than the 50:1 that most of my stuff calls for. Spark plugs will foul a little quicker, but cheaper and easier to swap a plug than a piston.

Won’t hurt a car/truck/Jeep engine to dump it in there, so if you feel better doing that, pour it on in

I think I'm going to use it as vehicle fuel just to be sure.

    Thanks for everybody chiming in!

WM, the blueish is definitely the mix, any idea how much 2 cycle oil you added for 2 1/2 gallons?  Should tell on the oil bottle how much to add and usually have a site window to see the amount.  Next time I will drive down to make sure you do it correctly....lol

I put the correct amount in, and is actually the reason I got the 2.5 gal cans.  The bottles of mix I use go with 2.5 gallons of fuel.

Odd thing, though is that it didn't TASTE oily, is that normal?

Hey ,  I am with you on the idiot thing !!!!   LOL -----      only 2.5 gallons of mixed ,  I'd burn it in my truck , mixed in a full tank ---- if you don't feel good about it ,   burn some ants , have a campfire , send it to needy Ukrainians so they can  make Molotov cocktails with it , naw , you couldn't ship that , I know , you might need it like them Ukrainians in the near future

Mark the can before you fill it , next time  !!!!

Can is already marked!  Before I came in to post my question I marked it.  Those that don't study their screwups are destined to repeat them and all that.

I think I'm going to top off my Wrangler in a few days to get rid of it.  Though I would potentially waste some oil, it's a far more expensive mistake to make if I fry my cainsaw.

  7. I purchased two 2.5 gallon fuel containers.  One of them was to replace my smaller fuel container I use for my chainsaw.  I filled one up and set it aside to mix in some oil.  I then went and did something.  I came back and grabbed the other EMPTY 2.5 gallon container and thought "WTF" didn't I just fill that?  I filled it and added the oil, went to get my can of spray paint to mark the container and of course never did, but I had GREAT intentions!

One of my containers has fuel with a blue tinge to it.  That should be my mixed fuel.  The other fuel (non-ethanol) is fairly clear.

    Questions:

1 - The blueish one should be my mixed fuel, right?

2 - If I am unsure, what happens if I just pour both of them in my vehicle and start over to be sure?  I know if I use the wrong fuel in my chainsaw, it's cooked.  Will the added oil just cause a bit of smoke in my Wrangler?

    Lessons:

1 - Don't do the job half way.  Mark the stupid fuel can and add the oil when the fuel goes in the can

    2 - See lesson #1

    3 - Drink heavily

Yes he disappears quite often in chat, I know there have been times in the past where there were disconnects but I haven't seen that on my end at all lately.

He shouldnt be scared of you wm he supposedly is 6'8", but you know the bigger they are the harder they fall....

What if the bigger guys fall on ME?  If we were both in the woods and a bigger guy falls on me, who will hear me whine about it?

  9. I forgot to mention that we did 5 loads of wood.  Easy day.  One guy sawed and the rest formed a chain through the brush to get it to the trailer.  Each year we start out like this and get what we need to last through the season.  We have discussed buying the wood as it all takes money for us to drive from various places to get there, but we enjoy hanging out, moving a few stands, and getting the wood.  AND eating like pigs and drinking various beverages.

I don't get to gather and process firewood much, but I enjoy the work.  Maybe because I do it so infrequently?  This weekend was our initial visit to our hunting leas to prepare for the following deer season.  We do this and that and gather firewood.  We gathered enough logs from a few blow downs to more than get us through our rifle season.  We will let it sit where we stacked it and then split about half of it on the next trip.

Wow.  Looks like the two girls that went down before her cushioned the ending of it a bit.

  12. My trailer is very similar, yet a bit shorter.  I can put quite a bit of weight over the axle and put the nose of my atv on the front rail.  I ratchet the front down which takes care of that.  For the rear I use the pocket d-rings that go into the 2x4 slot (image below) and go from them to my hitch.  I slightly compress the shocks to add some tension and it's worked well.  If my trailer was longer, say a 16' one, then I wouldn't do it this way.  I also purchased the flush D-Rings the go into the bed and planned to use those, but since this is working so well I'm not going to do that.  On a 16' trailer I think I would, though.

I take it as Kev is a 15 stone man , so that makes him about  210 pounds , and he wants to know how much corn can a cornchuck  chuck , if a   corn chuck could chuck corn , so then add another 300 pounds of corn ( about 21.5 stones ) on the front and back racks , everything bigger than a 250 recon  will handle that 36.5 stones GVW

I would agree.  I bounce between 240-270 lbs (two boulders).  You and others know more about the minimal engine sizes, I just have experience with the one I have.

  14. I'll jump in on this as I haul bags of corn as part of our hunting.  Not only do I load my 420 up with bags of corn, I often use my trailer to haul much more.  A key, among the other suggestions in this thread already, is your gear selection.  Obviously you gear down, go a bit slower so you don't stress the components of your ATV, etc.  I have a trailer that is rated for 1500 lbs, and have had up to 800lbs of corn in it.  I went all over our lease, down old logging roads and sometimes less, filling feeders and checking cameras.  When in certain areas, I'll put in 4 wheel drive to reduce stress on the machine and all is well.

How much corn do you think is the max that you would haul at once?

  15. We got a steady day and a half of rain, then a mix of rain/snow, then snow.  Quite a base of ice on the roads and snow on top of it.  Trucks would not salt too early as it would just wash off.  In the greater area there are two plows in the ditch.  The interviewed one driver and he said he was on a straight stretch and on one part the road is slanted and he just started to slide off, nothing he could do.

Of course, I have a Jeep Wrangler, so I'm immune from all of this and will do wheelies everywhere I go.
