  1. I was looking in the book, and there is no gap spec. It would be kinda hard to move it, because the holes are where there are.
  2. It idles great! I've never had a problem with it not starting/ idling. It's when I put the throttle to it, the spark comes and goes, and it misses. I have not replaced the stator or flywheel. I believe both are original, but I do not know, I've only owned it since August 2020. I also put a Brand-new OEM coil in it, and it didn't change anything.
  3. No, I have not. Pardon my ignorance, but what would this fix/change?
  4. Ok, I got the new pulse generator yesterday, and pet it in. After waiting for the gasket material to dry, I fired it up, and nothing has changed, so what's next?
  5. Rockymountainatv's vin range doesn't have an x like mine does. 478TE150XPA522693 That's my vin
  6. I don't see a way to check my VIN on Rockymountainatv.
  7. The plug on my dad's box says HC4, and the plug is reversed as well, which I thought was odd.
  8. Although there are some that are 93 only. And I just looked and my box says HC5 on it. This is the box that was only used in 93. So could this be the issue after all?
  9. Not disagreeing, I just don't own an 88.
  10. I am on Partzilla RN, and it goes 88, 89-93, 94-97 (some are 94 and 95) and 98-00
  11. Ok, maybe my brother bought an 89-93? Idk. Are 90 and 93 boxes the same?
  12. I actually took the boot of my dad's, and it immediately ran better. So, I glued up mine, and it seemed better. I've heard about what you said, but with shaving cream. But starting fluid is a better way to do it in my opinion. Btw Dad's honda is a 1991.
  13. Funny story, the insulator boot on the motor side of the carb had a nice big split it, and it was sucking air past it, in effect making the mixture leaner. I patched it up, and it ran so much better, but not as good as I would've liked. So we started to investigate other stuff that might cause it to not run right. And now we're here.
  14. Well, I actually thought it was a carb problem, so I bought different jets to play around with it. I couldn't get it to run right, and my dad suggested ignition timing. So, we hooked a timing light to it, and indeed we had a problem with loosing spark. So like I said we changed the spark plug, coil, and cdi box. It sounded identical every time I changed anything. We tested the PG with a voltmeter, and like I said only 0.2 ohms within spec. I haven't had it out to look at it/ replace it, so it's still a suspect. I'll know for sure when I get the new one. Since my brother was having cdi trouble with his 1990 300, he bought a brand-new OEM box, and I tried it just because I was curious, and it was exactly the same. Said box is for an 88-93. And since this is the 4th box I've had in there, I think it's safe to say I rule out the box. If you have any other ideas, let me know, and I can try them.
  15. I'm a redneck, and I live in the PNW haha.
  16. Is the ground bolt you were talking about the one that shares a bolt with the starter? I had the engine completely stripped down, so, I don't think it should be an issue.
  17. I've run it before, and i always thought it wasn't the best for it, but I don't think it will hurt it.
  18. No, it does it with the battery too, I just have the rear fender off, to check plugs, and connections. Would running it without a battery cause damage to any of the electrical components?
  19. Without a fuse it still runs Haha, I have the back plastic off it, so it has no battery, or anything that goes in the battery box. Runs fine other than lacking on the top end.
  20. Trust me, I've ran into some weird stuff as well. I play with my kill switch often, so I don't think that's the issue. I think the PG is the issue, because it was 359.8 out of 360 ohms, which means it's barely strong enough to pass the test, but too weak to provide the motor with enough spark at a higher rpm. Would a bad fuse cause the motor to lose spark on the top end?
