Kevron 68 Posted November 18, 2020 Hey guys , I’ve got a husqvarna 455 rancher that the handle and fuel tank is busted. She slid off the back of a flat bed. Anyway I found the body of a husky 460 and was thinking of trying to swap it out. Does anyone have experience in swapping the motor from one case to the other? Just wondering if I want to take it somewhere or try myself. I’ve never really tore into a chainsaw before. Thanks
LedFTed 1,145 Posted November 19, 2020 (edited) i just swapped out the case, so to speak. some parts are the same. shows up on the parts fich, which will interchange. i dropped a tree truck, an it fell, clipped my bro-in-laws stihl chainsaw. opps..🥴 one from a different model fit perfect. 😁 [was the handle that got clobbered].. the morel of this story is; keep borrowed saws, away from the way you think the tree trunk will land. Risk your own!! i thought the trunk was 15' tall, but when it hit the ground Edited November 19, 2020 by LedFTed
jeepwm69 7,783 Posted November 19, 2020 Looks like the handle is the same (not the fitment/ compatibility at the bottom) https://www.ereplacementparts.com/handle-half-right-p-617667.html https://www.ereplacementparts.com/cap-handle-left-p-1041777.html Not sure about the tank, but according to this I would tend to believe they are the same. https://randysengine.repair/products/husqvarna-5372825002-537-28-25-02-crankcase-455-rancher-460-chainsaw-part-oem I tore down an MS180 Stihl and replaced the crankcases. If you pay attention to detail it should be "take apart, put back together"
