jeepwm69 7,752 Posted May 7, 2021 Local guy bought a 2003 450ES, said he has it back together and running, but it's missing the "speed sensor on the rear of the motor". I told him on an 03 the speed sensors are on the front diff, which he confirmed is selectable. But there's a spot where the speed sensor goes on the 01-down models on the back of the engine. Is that just a blind hole on the 02-04 models? Hard to see from the pics he sent, but I'm thinking it's like the castings on the newer machines where the mounting spot for the ES is there even on the footshifts, but the holes aren't drilled. Is that right? Anything supposed to go where the circle is? @Fishfiles
Fishfiles 20,147 Posted May 7, 2021 I just went and looked at the 2002 and the 2000 , the place for the speedo is there on the 2002 cover , but like you said the hole is not drilled , looks like the places for the bolts are there , not sure if the are tapped out or not

shadetree 5,979 Posted May 16, 2021 '98-2002 models have the speed sensor right there, all others are up front at the front diff.
