2014 TRX250TE No Start, No Fire.

Recommended Posts

This is crazy. Normal components ck great. So back to basics. Ck power, ck grounds, All good. BUT, I left my ohmmeter hooked between the battery ground and engine. Happened to turn the switch on while still hooked up. Now my meter went from .03 ohms to -4.5 ohms. Neg ohms?? And cranking ohms go crazy. All on the Neg side. So I changed my meter from ohms to DC volts. Cranking I get .03 Volts. No, not bad ground. I hooked my meter from the battery to the other end of the cable. Same.

There are several grounds... there is a ground cable between the motor and the frame too, held down to the frame with a bolt. There is also a wiring harness ground bolt. All of them may need to be removed and shined up.

Do you have spark?

If not, have you checked your voltage regulator?

the meters probably picking up stray voltage,  in Ohms mode it will  go crazy

Try unplugging Voltage regulator and see if crazy readings go away

voltage regulators have diodes that go bad that could possibly back feed voltage to ground

Also, bad regulator can make a no spark- no start condition

Let us know what you find
