jeepwm69 7,721 Posted June 3, 2020 So, bought a parts 300 a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday I more or less popped the big dent out of one side of it. Paint's in good shape. Inside is clean. Then I look and the threaded shank that the petcock screws onto it gone! Anyone every have this happen? I'm wondering if I could braise a nipple on there, or if it's scrap. Melatv 797 Posted June 3, 2020 All you can do is try -- my Boss many -- many years ago said to me just get it going -- whittle it out of a piece of wood if you have too.
shadetree 5,969 Posted June 4, 2020 if it broke off, then more than likely its rusted very bad around that area inside, and out. i have never had one break off, but i have seen a ton of them rust out, pin holes, you name it around that threaded part. your best bet is try to jb-weld one back on ?, then use a product called '' seal all '' all around it. other than this ?, that tank is scrap. jeepwm69 7,721 Posted June 4, 2020 Kinda what I was thinking. Paint's in good shape, inside looks clean. I don't get it, but it's looks good enough inside and out that I hate to scrap it.
