Okay battery is good -- bike will start and run? -- when you turn key on bike shows neutral light on display?
-
HI: I am back home again --- Okay lets start with the Battery test -- place your meter leads on the battery and leave them on while doing the test -- take a reading then turn the head lights on for 30 seconds voltage will drop -- turn lights off voltage should ramp back up to what the meter read before turning lights on. what did you see.

Okay Retro I will try to keep him busy --- now unplug the 5 pin connector of ECM and check the Green wire for continuity to ground

Yes that is correct
-
Ok -- Now put the jumper back in the relay connector -- unplug the ECM -- and check for 12VDC on the R/Y wire of the 5 pin connector for ECM - black meter test lead on neg. of battery when testing.
If you don't have 12VDC on the R/Y wire of the connector -- check for continuity from the R/Y wire on that connector to the R/Y wire on the relay connector.
-
Also when you check for 12VDC on the shift motor was the relay plugged in?
-
Is your bike in Neutral when doing these tests?
-
Yes that the relay -- You are doing fine with your tests
-
Wish I had your bike in front of me ----- Do this unplug the Engine relay (4 wires on it) test the harness side for 12VDC on the R/W and Green wire on the connector
-
Hi: both probes in connector -- harness side
-
-
OK -- unplug the shift motor and do that test again with the jumper and check to see if you have 12VDC on the connector to the shift motor -- key on and push the shift buttons.
-
Did you have the jumper in place when you tried to shift?
-
Ok that's good -- now go to the relay connector and place a jumper wire from the R/Y and R/W wire and see if the bike will shift
-
Check Bl/O wire again on the relay connector with the ECM plug in -- both connectors on the ECM with key on
-
Was the ECM plug in and the key on when check for 12VDC on the Bl/O wire?
-
Hi: also do you have 12 VDC on the Bl/O wire on the same connector with the key on?
-
-
Hi: I am just going to jump in here while you wait for Retro --- key off -- unplug the ECM and check for 12 VDC on 5P connector 5 wire connector for ECM that is the R/Y wire -- should have 12vdc on the that R/Y wire with key on -- red test lead on the R/Y wire and black test lead on neg. of battery.

Hi: Big Welcome Here
-
Hi Big Welcome Here: -- You need to use a Multimeter do your testing --- unplug the connector for the Up/Dn buttons -- on the harness side you should read 5 VDC with the red test lead on the Bl/R wire and the black test lead on the neg. of the battery -- with the key on

Good -- Unplug the connector for shift up & Dn buttons and check for 5VDC on the Bl/R wire --- everything else plug in
