  1. Fish, Hey now that hurts, LOL! I can honestly say I haven't had issue 1 with mine, course I don't bury them in mud up to the handle bars either LOL. Seeing Akunin's post above I may look more seriously into upgrading the shocks, for the most part our trails are pretty well maintained by the Forest Service but there are some areas where they built new trails and hauled in a ton of rock for the trail bed and that tends to be somewhat rough. Anything I can do to make it nicer for the wife is a plus for me😂. I know Can Am's are spendy and have checked into a few add ons for mine and decided to stay stock👾 waaay too much $$$$ for what you get. Aftermarket is somewhat better priced but think they are are alll in Kahoots together.
  2. Akunin, If you don't mind me asking what did those fox shocks set you back? I keep thinking about doing something like that for our machines as well but haven checked into it too seriously. Also see you're from the Black Hills, where exactly? My in-laws live in Rapid, as they are aging we are trying to get down there more often so see them. We were down at Thanksgiving and ended up staying an extra day due to the snow they got. Have thought about bringing the machines down but not really sure about the riding areas, I know there are a lot of road type areas, wondering if there are any 50" only trails? Be cool if we could link up sometime. FF
  3. LedFTed, That's fine I don't mind at all. That's cool, always wanted to paint. Before my dad passed away he was pretty limited to what he could do physically so he took a painting class. He painted 6 different paintings so each of us kids got one. Maybe some day I'll do it. Have at it👍
  4. I don't think that there are too many people that can experience that! We are blessed! I was able to take my brother in-law, who is from Dallas and by no means a stranger to "our type of Country", on a atv ride and hike a couple of years ago. He was blown away at how many people we didn't see! LOL. The hike was awesome and to a place that I hadn't even been to, well worth the effort. 9,989ft.
  5. Thanks, I'm sure you have some to match based on your Avitar picture.
  6. Fish I found it on line it was called a Bombardier Traxter 500XT 2-up. It came out in 2005 evidently was the precursor to the Can Am Max XT's
  7. SlammedRanger and retro, great idea, had noticed a change over there didnt seem quite the same. Thanks for the great welcome guys, you know I'm just kidding! This is pretty cool, did a bit of the chat room last night that was pretty cool to get to know a few of the guys a little better. Yes still in Montana Macarena Man, don't see myself going anywhere unless my property taxes get too high. Fish, yeah they have more power than I'll ever need most of our trails are too tight and winding to really open them up, not a bad thing just different type of riding here. Shoot my Ranchers had more power than I needed. Akunin and riverc, I sometimes cant believe I get to have the access to the mountains and scenery we do. Weird part is there is never anybody out there when we go, more times than not we don't even hear other machines let alone see anybody. Looking at Getting another 2-up instead of the single 570, they just seem to ride a little smoother, If I do you guys will be the 1st to know. Looking forward to a new Season o fridinging, already making plans and setting dates on the calendar with friends. Going to be more purposeful this year and try to branch out a little more do some other areas And tie it in with some camping. Well off to work fellows hope you will have a great day.
  8. Looks like I was directed here, Not a part of the REAL group anymore since I jumped the Honda ship I guess. LOL!!!. This is great, glad that there is a section for other brands of machines. What a cool Forum, thankful to be a part of it. Looking forward to posting pics and sharing riding adventures down the road. Here's my current up to date machines. We are looking at getting rid of the green 2018 and getting another XT model, the 2-up machines are just smoother to ride with the extended wheel base, and add in the power steering and the fatigue level goes way down, and if we want to take other couples out it is better to have a machine that is designed for it. Have really enjoyed these two atv's much easier on my wife's back, Happy wife, Happy life.
  9. Thanks F250 guy. Been looking at the Hatfield and McCoy trail system looks pretty cool. But boy is that a long way to go for me to ride. LOL
  10. Yes both of them have 3 different settings, They have a crazy amount of power, more than I will ever need, our trails are just narrow, we have specific trails for 50" machines, they weave and switch back all through the National Forest Service. If these 570's were any bigger it would be hard to negotiate some of the switch backs. I did love the simplicity of the Honda's and they sipped the fuel I consistently got over 40 miles to the gallon with the fuel injection. and even at 28 horsepower it was plenty when my wife and I were riding double, all boiled down to the suspension and no power steering.
  11. Retro, bcsman, riverc, and _Wilson_, Thanks. Retro and Wilson, thanks for all you guys do, you guys are truly amazing, love the rebuilds wish I had a 100th of your talent and knowledge. I thought I was doing good when I pulled the plastics off of my Ranchers and applied the graphics kits. LOL.
  12. Thanks TBRider and toodeep, Fun to be a part of such a great group of guys. I have learned a lot from the forums as well as youtube, I just enjoy the stories and expreriences that everyone shares. Those are my sentiments as well, in the short time that we've been involved in this wonderful sport, (4 years) it's about going out and having fun and enjoying our areas we get to ride and the company of the people that we are with. I think one of the best times my wife and I have ever had was with a group of people that had a mishmash of machines. Anyone that had any issues was immediately helped out by everyone, I even had some carburetor issues with a Grizzly that I owned at the time. Everyone stood around scratching their heads along with me, eventually hooked a tow strap on and took turns pulling me 15 miles out. Ended up needing a carburetor rebuild and a new petcock, once that was replaced ran like a top. To me it's just getting out with folks and enjoying what God has created for us. As for what we ride.......we ended up settling on Can Am's. We started with a 2013 Honda Rancher, picked up an old '98 Kawasaki Praire 400 with only 234 miles on it, that thing was awesome, ran like a top. Cleaned it up some and repainted the wheels and sold it for $1000 more than I paid for it, then picked up the 2008 Grizzly 400 with only 282 miles on it owned it for a summer and the wife said she wanted another Rancher so found another '13 Rancher and rode them for a couple years, my wife then decided that as dependable as they were (ARE) they just were too hard on her back. It wasn't worth recovering for a week and a half after every ride, the solid rear axle and 1 shock swing arm just beat her to death. So in order to keep her interested in the sport I started looking for machines with IRS and 2 years ago came across a 2018 Can Am 570 Outlander with 38 miles on it. The guy was in trouble with his wife for having too many toys and had to unload it, it still had a warranty and it was about $1500 less than brand new. He must of really needed to get rid of it because he brought it to me all the way from Boise Idaho to Bozeman. (500 miles) We've had it for almost two years and it has been an unbelievable dream to ride, power steering made all the difference in the world for my wife. We liked it so much we sold the 2nd Rancher and I drove down to Loveland Colorado and picked up another Outlander later that summer. A 2016 570 2-up, that particular machine unfortunately didn't have power steering but was still much smoother to drive and be a passenger on. Then this last October I happened across another '16 570 2-up in a town about 80 miles from us that had everything I wanted, Power steering, heated grips, winch, plow mount, and brand new Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 radial tires with only 392 miles. I bought it sight unseen and drove over and picked it up, hated the yellow color but switched the plastics from my other Red 2-up Outlander and put my old one on Craigslist, sold it in 7 days for $100 less than I paid for the one with all of the upgrades. Looking forward to spring already so we can get out again. So............even though I jumped to the dark side, I have always enjoyed the guys from the Honda forum and they haven't held it against me too much. LOL. I just really love the camaraderie that seems to be there. Here's a couple of pics of our current rides. Not the Yellow one, that's my old one I sold, this is after I switched the plastics out. The Green on and red one are our current rides. If Honda ever comes out with a 2-up machine, I'll be back😎
  13. Thanks for the invite, I know I'm not in the Honda club anymore but I have to say the people on that forum are by far the friendliest guys over all the other forums I've checked out. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone's posts. Have also enjoyed sharing pics of our rides as well.
